When you "dethrone" a king, another must take over. However a king can be exiled without dethroning that king. No man born of a woman can "dethrone" the oba of Benin. The natural heir to the throne is the king's first son, and the position is not contested like it's done in other parts of the country.
These guys who believe they know us better than we know ourselves will never get this.

What you fools still don't get about Benin Kingdom is that the Oba of Benin can only be succeeded by his oldest surviving son. Benin Kingdom is not defined by any Nigerian constitution. And Oba Eweka 2 and Oba Akenzua 2 were very involved in politics. They led the push for creation of the Midwestern region.

lmao. The funniest joke of the day? Is Benin a different country outside Nigeria with their own different constitution??

Stop talking irrelevant rubbish, there's a difference between succession and state law's supremacy over traditional rulers.

Any state in Nigeria can dethrone any king regardless of the replacement or succession line.

I honestly think I'm wasting my time with this comedian.

He was dethroned by Awolowo but what happened thereafter? Awolowo died a very shameful death and Bode Thomas his right hand man barked till he died.
How did you know this? Are you Yoruba?

You still don't get it.
What you are saying may apply to every other traditional ruler, but it doesn't apply to the Oba of Benin.
The Oba of Benin is much like the delai lama. You just can't remove him. Even in exile, he is still the Oba of Benin. Remember the Vikings. The first son of Ragnar is called young Ragnar and upon the demise of Ragnar, young Ragnar becomes Ragnar. That is the same thing with the Oba of Benin. No constitution can change that.
And Benin Kingdom is not defined by any Nigerian constitution because it was there probably thousands of years before Nigeria was created. It is defined by its people. We are Benin Kingdom. We already know who our next king will be. So take your constitutions and shove them where the sun don't shine.

All Obas and Emirs are answerable to common local government
Let us learn further from history.
Ovonramwen Nogbaisi of Benin was dethroned in 1897
Also Sultan of Sokoto Ibrahim Dasuki in 1996
And finally Almighty alafin Adeyemi was also dethroned in 1955.
Tankio. I didn't have strength to counter one kid talking about ovonramwen Nogbaisi as an "untouched."

Losing a war to the British is quite different from being dethroned by a local government, don't you think ?

It is weird that you would mention Oba Ovonramwen who ruled his country (Benin empire), there was no country called Nigeria. He fought a war against the British empire and lost that war. There was no such thing as Nigerian government back then. When a king loses a war he generally gets exiled, which is what happened.
You are confusing losing a war to an other country with actually being dethroned by a local government in the set up that is Nigeria.

Not the same thing at all.
Re: Sanusi Lamido Dethronement: Three Untouchable Kings In Nigeria by Nobody: 11:39pm On Mar 10, 2020
Any government can lose power after being defeated in a war ! Not just traditional governments ! Jesus Christ losing a war against an other country is not the same as being dethroned by a local government. What the hell is wrong with you guys ? Is this just jealousy ?

Questions, please tell us where the Oba of Benin gets his staff of office from?

Where? From himself or from the governor?

Your comedy is really getting stale.

Who gave Oba Ovonramwen his staff of office ?
We don't give a fvck about any staff of office.
I think you will never understand this, just give up and keep talking about your own traditional rulers who keep being deposed whenever the state government wants to.

The Sultan of sokoto has been dethroned before; the alaafin of Oyo also.Even the oba of Benin can also be dethroned.

The British dethroned Oba of Benin, burnt his palace and sent him into exile in calabar. What happened? Nothing as usual!
These Edo folks brag alot just like their lousy yoruba brothers. Go and read history and be informed.

No king in Nigeria is bigger than any local government chairman.

If France attacks and defeats nigeria in a war today, they will remove buhari from power and exile him.
Does that mean that any local government can remove buhari from power ?
You people's logics.

Leave nigeria and settle in England or America, get the citizenship of the country and broadcast from there.
