CanadaOrBust: I dont no about d weather but I think inbuilt immunity acquired over time has been helpful. Symptoms of corona include cough, catarrh & sore throat which are what we get here on regular basis, take a few drugs & its gone. Some people even take orange for catarrh. There's something WHO just aren't looking at to address d issue |
Re: Coronavirus: Ayo Alaba Idowu, Birdview Group Boss Speaks On Infected UK Returnee by CanadaOrBust: 4:11pm On Mar 18, 2020 |
lexy2014: Nah, cold weather people have much more experience with respiratory diseases than we will ever have. The flu kills 40,000 people in US every year, zero in Nigeria. I believe it has a lot to do with immune boosting vitamin D from our hot sun (which u can’t get by taking pills). People don’t realise how important that is. In those high-incidence countries people cover up their skin due to cold. Day in day out, no sun touches them. Also cold weather has been shown to suppress the immune system to some extent 1 Like |

CanadaOrBust: There have been different views and opinions regarding the hot or cold weather but if truly the hot weather hinders the growth and spread of the virus, places like Qatar, Oman, UAE, Kuwait shouldn't have any cases. As per hot/warm water, it is known that at certain high temperatures, some bacteria/virus do not thrive and I guess that's why everyone is recommending drinking of warm water. |

Re: Coronavirus: Ayo Alaba Idowu, Birdview Group Boss Speaks On Infected UK Returnee by CanadaOrBust: 6:00pm On Mar 18, 2020 |
Olubee22: It is not views and opinions. It is called SCIENCE. The places u mentioned are not among the hot spots of corona. Also they are neither humid nor poor. If a place has too much air-conditioning corona will spread indoors. The criteria are WARM, HUMID, and relatively POOR. In other words tropical weather and poor. Drinking warm water and avoiding ice in a hot place to kill corona is ridiculous. Does corona reside in the stomach? |
Re: Coronavirus: Ayo Alaba Idowu, Birdview Group Boss Speaks On Infected UK Returnee by Olubee22(f): 7:47pm On Mar 18, 2020 |
CanadaOrBust:I never said it was Liberal arts. The virus has been likened to common flu where transmission is quite efficient in under cold and drier conditions but less in humid conditions. However, believing that warm weather alone could stop the spread is still far-fetched. As I had written earlier, "some bacteria/virus do not thrive at certain high temperatures, so I'm guessing that's the reason why everyone is recommending drinking of hot/warm water". This isn't the normal food bacteria or germs that we know, so I do not subscribe to over heating food or drinking of hot/warm water, but it doesn't hurt to stay hydrated. |

lexy2014: A country has to be warm AND humid (tropical) AND relatively poor (otherwise there’d be too much air conditioning and corona will spread indoors) |
Re: Coronavirus: Ayo Alaba Idowu, Birdview Group Boss Speaks On Infected UK Returnee by lexy2014: 10:14am On Mar 21, 2020 |
CanadaOrBust: Then that automatically knocks out& negates ur theory on vitamin D as acquired from exposure to d sun. Going by ur a/c theory, it means those who enjoy a/c in nigeria should be down with corona by now. CanadaOrBust: Australians are also exposed to sun touching them. Based on d above, then they shouldn't be having corona virus |
Re: Coronavirus: Ayo Alaba Idowu, Birdview Group Boss Speaks On Infected UK Returnee by CanadaOrBust: 4:58pm On Mar 21, 2020 |
lexy2014: How does it knock out vitamin D theory?? The AC has to be pervasive and strong which only RICH countries can afford. This stuff is supported by both scientific and anecdotal evidence. Scientifically, Corona does not do well in warm humid climate and breaks down under sunlight. Anecdotally u can’t mention any warm, humid, relatively poor country where corona has succeeded |
Re: Coronavirus: Ayo Alaba Idowu, Birdview Group Boss Speaks On Infected UK Returnee by lexy2014: 6:25pm On Mar 21, 2020 |
CanadaOrBust: Earlier, u had said that d weather in Africa was responsible 4d low covid19 infection rate in Nigeria. And I responded that it might not just be down to weather. I stated that it might be due to inbuilt immunity which we had acquired over time due to our exposure to d symptoms of corona like catarrh, cough and sore throat. But u then retorted that our exposure to vitamin D which is gotten from sunlight was what is responsible for that immunity. I then informed u that if getting vitamin D from d sun was d reason for our immunity, then Australia wouldn't have recorded 7 deaths from more than 1000 cases. U then changed ur story & came up with d a/c theory that it is because Africans are poor& that we don't use a/c but that Australians are rich and that they use a/c that's why they have corona & we don't. Is a/c a public infrastructure in Australia? Are people cocooned inside a/c even while they walk on d streets that prevents them from accessing sunlight? Are all Nigerians and Africans so poor that they can't afford a/c? Are u saying that africa is so poor that no one in africa uses a/c? D ones that can afford a/c or have access to it, why have they all not been infected since a/c makes people susceptible to corona virus? Except u are saying Australias sun doesn't have vitamin D, u successfully negated ur own theory by urself. FYI, Australian weather is very similar to Africas |

CanadaOrBust: CanadaMon I raise a toast to ya brother. Your's is a calm, reassuring voice amid the raging tempest, barely heard above the deafening roar of blind panic that can infest the mind of even the most rational and objective human being in times like this. Despite fleeting moments of nagging doubt regarding the efficacy of tropical heat and humidity as virus transmission suppressors, I agree with the basic premise that you have enunciated so eloquently in several previous posts, namely that due in large part to that tropical heat, there will ultimately be comparatively fewer in-country Corona virus infections within West Africa, in conjunction with statistically fewer mortality rates among those that import their infection into West Africa from the current hot zones in Europe. Today the world finally saw the fabled "Italian Man" who FIRST introduced Nigeria to the Corona Virus, posing for a group photograph with the Nigerian medical personnel that saved his life and set him on the road to a full recovery. Must confess that I did get a little misty-eyed looking at those pictures, since they beautifully highlighted the impeccable professionalism of the Nigerian medical crew, while also hinting that a significant degradation of virulent potency may well indeed, be attributed to West Africa's current heat wave. Contemplating the undercurrent of welling panic and grim resignation that infuses so many online opinions, one wonders how many people, on witnessing the conveyor-belt removal of body-bags from residential neighborhoods via television footage beamed over time zones from the hot zones, wind up losing their marbles and committing suicide by their own hand even before the contagion starts to claim geographically close victims . Oddly enough it was the earlier Ebola epidemic that just about rendered me catatonic with fear, thanks to copious media coverage and its point of origin in the Congo's tropical heat, yet today in 2020, despite the horrifying death toll reported in Italy and Iran from the new Corona virus, I sleep peacefully each night, while remaining cautiously and guardedly optimistic about the odds of surviving the current storm relatively unscathed, over much of the West African sub-region. 1 Like |

lexy2014: You don’t realise how confused u sound. Remember this is SCIENCE supported by OBSERVED EVIDENCE. It is not my opinion or I change my story. It is right there for u to see. (See screenshot below). I never discounted your immunity theory. They are all part of it. The weather I described is tropical weather. Australia is sub-tropical. As for AC, walk into a public hospital in Australia or Dubai then compare to 9ja - strong AC in public and private places all over, that’s what’s meant. Also remember Australia is NOT one of the hot spots of corona - Italy just had 627 corona deaths in ONE day!

Re: Coronavirus: Ayo Alaba Idowu, Birdview Group Boss Speaks On Infected UK Returnee by lexy2014: 7:23pm On Mar 21, 2020 |
CanadaOrBust: And I never disputed ur weather theory. I only said it is not as straightforward as u put it. I clearly don't see what d confusion is about except u are d one who is confused& maybe u feel ur ego has been bruised. Whether a/c in Australia or Dubai is strong or not, d a/c theory is null& void. Is a/c a public infrastructure that is used on d streets? Is it used in beaches or at Australian open tennis events? So at one point or d other, these folks are exposed to d sun. I don't even see why u are trying to make d distinction between tropical and subtropical. Does d vitamin d from d sun in tropical defer from d vitamin D in subtropical? Again, ur theory that Africans are poor paints a picture of people who have never used a/c or who don't no what it is. If that isnt s case, that means that all those who use a/c on a daily basis should be down with corona. What is confusing u about that? |
Re: Coronavirus: Ayo Alaba Idowu, Birdview Group Boss Speaks On Infected UK Returnee by CanadaOrBust: 7:50pm On Mar 21, 2020 |
Jakumo: Thanks bro. I saw this post: If you randomly pick 100 people infected with coronavirus, LESS THAN 2 will die. And that <2 persons are probably OVER the age of 60 or have a pre-existing medical condition (someone whose immune system is already weakened by another illness). Here’s where it gets interesting: 96% of those affected just test positive and recover on their own. 80% never have any symptoms and 98% of those who test positive fully recover. Not only that, those 2 people will probably not have the benefit of immune-boosting vitamin D from our hot sun, nor the corona-weakening benefit of our hot humid weather! 1 Like |
Re: Coronavirus: Ayo Alaba Idowu, Birdview Group Boss Speaks On Infected UK Returnee by CanadaOrBust: 8:17pm On Mar 21, 2020 |
lexy2014: I mean no insult but u sound so mixed-up I don’t know where to start. Let me try. 1) AC. Where would corona patients be? Hospital. It is easier to spread corona if the hospital were cold than if it were warm. Same applies to other places where many people gather. I hope that has resolved that. BTW let me confess that is from scientists not me. 2) There are three conditions that have to be present a) warm b) humid c) relatively poor 3) Now is summer in Australia, which is very likely why it is NOT one of the hot spots 4) If Australia had numbers like Iran or Italy you’d have a point. But they have practically no corona compared to those people, likewise other warm/hot places. 5) Find a corona hot spot that is warm and humid otherwise stop making baseless argument |
