Nobody can accurately verify what the nurse said or didn't say. People exaggerate and twist things alot in Nigeria. That's one of the reasons I left. At times, you would tell a Nigerian patient what the prognosis or complications of his medical condition would be, only for them to tell their relatives that "the doctor said I will die". Then, you would immediately become their enemy. Nigerians are not easy to deal with.
It may even be that she was jokingly saying that to her colleagues after the patient has already started leaving, but of course, just because it was alleged to have come from a healthcare professional, it'll immediately become a problem.
Since u aren't in the system, den u are not in direct touch realities in the medical profession. If u noticed in my quote, I mentioned a personal experience. That's where I'm speaking from

Plz don't say this trash you are talking here. In the medical profession, there has to be some form of decorum accosted with the profession. Is coronavirus a death sentence why must we always act and talk out of ignorance

That's how most of you talk stupidly without having the basic information.
Why not first ask if they have PPE in that hospital? I hope you know what PPE is?
Without it, no one has any business attending to a suspected case of Covid-19.
Most general hospitals in Nigeria don't even have hand gloves, let alone PPEs.
Your guys are ignorantly focusing on the health workers who are given nothing to work with, instead of on the government which has failed to equip the hospitals.
Yes but they are more, professional ways to conduct yourself instead of running away in front of a patient.

The only time you talk sensibly and professionally to a patient with a contagious disease like COVID-19, is when you are suited and kitted up as if you are going to the moon.

Like this guy below

We are also calling on volunteers to directs patients in our various hospitals< no particular certificates required>. You'all armchair cheerleaders and commentators should endeavour to apply.
as a matter of fact I am a volunteer. All army medical staff have been activated.so pls don't say what u don't know . The problem is some of our medical staffs are not professional also there is a lot of ignorance going around they have not been properly educated about the coronavirus, most think its a death sentence. For your information, Ebola is far more deadly

Egun is careful this time around. I can't blame the doctors and nurse for running, but that still doesn't go hand in hand with the ethic of the job and even I would advise they should be sacked..... But on a serious note, there's no point attending to someone with covid 19 when you don't have the necessary equipment.
You are right about them being sacked.they didn't have to to attend three should have just directed them to the right hospital that handles such instead of running away and shouting covid 19 is not my portion

It's well, they should have contacted the NCDC for them to be moving around like that without security escort is wrong, the environment of the hospital just have to be fumigated.

Lol. I am a Doctor. In one of the FMC where I work, even ordinary normal saline (the most common drip u can ever think of) is like gold. We had to borrow from ICU (imagine a Doctor borrowing drip upandan for a critical case when he should be racking his brain for correct diagnosis and treatment)when we had a case of Snake bite in the accident and emergency over night.
You now want me not to run from Coronavirus. Have you seen the military going to war without guns?. I can't come and die for nothing biko.

Abeg, let's not excuse stupid behaviors. No one is saying they should or must attend to them and treat them. Rather than running away and shouting this is Corona virus, they should have just redirected them to the appropriate place for attention, simple.

I totally agree with you but you know how Nigerians are, you know how our mentality be cheesy

Will you blame them, when some of them get paid mere 30,000 nairas a month as salaries to risk their lives, while the so-called senators get over a million naira a month for sleeping on duty and looting the treasury.

I prefer where I am now, where I have the facilities to work with; where patients are more enlightened, take meaningful part in their treatment, and have regards for their healthcare professionals; and where the government places values on its healthcare system, patients and the medical professionals. At the end of the day, everyone goes home fulfilled and happy.

No one wants where he will be improvising and sweating out his blood, and at the end still gets trampled upon by the same ungrateful people he's working and improvising for.

I really understand you perfectly well. They might have acted unprofessionally as you said. This covid-19 is wrecking havoc and since there is no known cure for now everybody is afraid. Do you think a simple phone call to the right hospital for the treatment of the patients would have done the magic? I thought referrals are accompanied in a written form according to health laws in Lagos state. I also read how LUTH rejected a convid -19 patient on the ground that there was no bed space though I don't know how through is that. The health sector has been stretched to the limit. I blame our politicians because they are not trying at all as regards equipping these hospitals, if they were truly trying I am sure individuals will support them.
thanks
I understand you as well. All hands must be on deck to manage the situation on hand the best we can. Otherwise disaster will occur, especially with our apologetic health care system.

A lady who claims to be a nurse have already created a thread saying she is going to resign so as not to contact Corona virus. Nigerians don't care about professionalism, they work to make money that's all. They don't care about doing something for humanity or honour or integrity except themselves.
This mentality is everywhere, our civil servants, politicians, lecturers, doctors etc we are just too selfish.
Civilians who are neither medical practitioners or military have volunteered to work aboard a ship that was turned to isolation center for the infected in America.

So their first and only response is to be shouting "God forbid, Coronavirus is not my portion, security come and send them away"? Even if you won't let them disembark, why not turn them back(refer them to the right place) in a sensible and professional manner? Not surprised at y'all responses, it's how you guys act in your various places of work...it's in the blood. This is Nigeria...bunch of unprofessional idiots.
Your comments here gives insight into your level of reasoning... Media told you the health workers were shouting ''God forbid, its nor my portion, security come and take them away'' and you blindly believe it all.
