Hi house,
Guess it's the effect of boredom from this Coronavirus sit at home thingy.
I was wondering why it is easier negotiating bends/corners at high speed with a German machine compared to any other vehicle.
Is it that other manufacturers are just dumb or the technology is beyond them?

Car gurus, your contributions will be appreciated.

Fallacy of Generalization.

I have navigate bends at 120km/h in a Lincoln Navigator.

It is not a German thing you have not just driven other better cars from other manufacturers. God deliver Nigerian from the shackles of tohyortaa kamury and korola grin

With an SUV?
Wow, but can you help explain what makes it easier to do so in some cars compared to others.
Also i think driving skills apply.

Build quality and technology incorporated.

If I knack your head with Toyota linkage you will feel pain and scratch it.

If I knack your head with Benz linkage you will wake up in the hospital a week after .

You’re correct but as long as we’re comparing apples to apples.

A Toyota Camry can never match a BMW 3 series in handling performance. And it wasn’t designed to. The business model and acumen is different.

The reason is that BMWs are designed specifically from the ground up with performance in mind.

The Navigator isn't just any SUV it packs a punch in the suspension area and the steering isn't your average one, it has a special lock position mechanism that stops understeer or oversteer.

But all things being equal, every vehicle is a machine and has limit if you try to re-write laws of physics you will end up in a bad place no matter how overengineered the vehicle is

Re: Negotiating Bends At High Speed by spinna: 11:07am On Mar 29, 2020
Rear wheel drive, which most German cars have, makes high speed bends easier because the drive is from behind pushing the car. With more throttle it can even spin tyres but still push through the bend (powrslide as oftrn seen on Top Gear). Porshes are good at that because their engine is also rear mounted

Honda's Prelude coupe, now in its third generation design, is one of the first cars to have four wheel steering, a system that steers the rear wheels as well as the front ones. ... Honda's system uses front and rear steering boxes connected by a center shaft.

Lol. Please keep your craze locked.
I can do 160-180 on a straight road. 120 at bends, but definitely not sharp bends.
Watched too many race movies gone bad

Define your speed here
Re: Negotiating Bends At High Speed by HeavenlyBang(m): 12:44pm On Mar 29, 2020
It's not a German thing.

An Infiniti G or Nissan 370z can do it.
Any car with SH-AWD can do it.
A Toyota 86 or BRZ can do it.

Just depends on suspension setup, weight distribution, possibly AWD system.

Define your speed here
Doing 180km/h (speed limiter) weaving thru traffic or potholes without touching brake.
Doing over 100km/h around very hard turns without touching brake but skimming on your accelerator pedal while your tyre squeals.

That's child's play compared to Milliken hills.

I don't think anyone with any car can drive beyond 40km/hr on that hill
