POLICE BURST A FOUR MAN SYNDICATE IMPERSONATING GOVERNMENT AGENCY ON COVID-19 IN ANAMBRA STATE

Recovers Several Surgical masks,hand Sanitizers against deadly Corona virus which they produced locally under unhygienic conditions

On the 31/3/2020 at about 3pm,following intelligence report,police operatives attached to Central Police Station Onitsha arrested the following syndicate,
(i) Anthony Chidubem Oyatubo 'm' aged 30 years of Nimo,Njikoka LGA.
(ii)Nwachukwu Chidi 'm' aged 31 years of Awka,
(iii)Chris C.Okeke 'm' aged 30years of Awka and,
(iv)Olisa Moura 'm' aged 25 years of Onitsha.

2. Suspects who allegedly claimed to be officials of the Ministry of health, fully kitted with reflective jackets and Caps with inscriptions"FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19"were arrested with flyers,hand sanitizers and face masks which they produced locally under unhygienic conditions and selling the products to the unsuspecting members of the Public as well as distributing same to various outlets in Onitsha before their arrests.

3. Meanwhile,preliminary investigation revealed that suspects were neither government workers nor health officials as they claimed but misguided elements who took advantage of the present pandemic situation to market their unhygienic products to the oblivious buyers.

4. Exhibits recovered in their possessions includes,three cartons of hand sanitizers, flyers,Several reflective jackets,Four Caps and over fifty nose masks.

5. Case under investigation after which Suspects would be charged to Court for prosecution.The Commissioner of Police *CP John B.Abang,fdc* once again enjoined the Public to be wary of such syndicates and refrain from patronising them in order not to expose themselves to other health hazards please.

Didn't see anything really dubious in it... just impersonation of the of health ministry officials whom have not even cared to distribute, share or sell these amenities..

Moreover its hand sanitizers and masks(essential commodities), if Nigerians had not gone into mass production of mask and sanitizers, what do you think would be the price of dettol hand sanitizer or purell?..

The point am making is... why call them dubious when you have not provided an alternative..

Homes are making hundreds of litres of sanitizer and tailors are sewing face masks for commercial purposes aswell, which dont get approved by any regulatory body all over the world because of its urgency

funny thing once there is an issue some Nigerians see it as a means to either scam or sell fake products. honestly we just blame the govt all the time what we citizens do to ourselves is worst than what the govt are doing. take for example a woman was caught sell Lipton tea she repacked to market women as drugs to help them with joints and supply blood at the rate of 10k and she allow them pay her bits by bits imagine all this old women and their fellow woman decided to take advantage of their ignorance and scam them, just imagine such people in the realm of power, i cant just imagine the pains we cause for each other, if they wanna sell do it in a way that wont backfire or make people feel its scam why do we see every bad situation as an opportunity to scam and steal its obvious we don't love ourselves in this country that's why the govt keep treating us as trash
