They stole the country blind. Excess crude, wiped out. Pension fund, wiped out. NHIS, wiped out. Foreign reserves, wiped out. Sovereign wealth fund, ditto. They could have drifted until 2023, but the global dip in crude prices has left them broke.
Shege!

There was never subsidy. They just don't know how to justify it with the price of crude oil at all time low.

We have heard this crap several times, which was why you guys increased pump price when you came to power and yet, we later heard you were still paying subsidy. Kuku tell us you want to deceive us again as usual so you could prevail on increasing the pump price further.

Wait a minute, where are the proofs of what you said you would use the proceeds for, which you showed us on telly in 3D when you took office, begging us to endure and comply with you? Where are the jobs, improved security, the massive infrastructural development, good health care, etc which you promised us the subsidy proceeds would be used for ? Are we not the biggest country in africa with the least number of ventilators? God is so merciful on us. Had what hit newyork been our experience in Nigeria, by now everyone would have been long forgotten , given your ineptitude. Tell us you are increasing the pump price again and stop talking about subsidy removal.
Well this time, I don't think they have a choice, like coronavirus is dealing with the economy seriously.

But when crude oil price falls from $60 to $20 per barrel, you reduce pump price of petrol by only N20. Crooks.

So, why is NNPC still fixing prices?
Why not allow marketers sell at market prices ?

The mere fact that NNPC is still fixing prices to allow for uniformity nationwide
means there will definitely be subsidy

Indeed. Deregulation and liberalisation go hand in hand. It is either all or none. That is the difference between the success story of telecommunications and the failure so far of the power sector.

No one told them what to charge for their services and where they decide to deploy. When goverment begins to fly the kite of so called 'security' meaning they are prepared to distort the market then nothing can be achieved.

They can decide to mess up the Dangote refinery for instance overnight.

Because our government have two mouth, their will say yes today and still come out to say no tomorrow.

d game dis time is to remove d subsidy, prices will keep increasing from d current one till it meets international market. They wanted to do that since December 2019. I assure you by d end of 2020, you will say bye bye to subsidy grin

Whatever.....but we must never pay more than #145/ltr again in this country. Otherwise another round of street protests await any inefficient government that cannot fix local refineries.

One of the few countries in the world today that sell raw materials to buy finished products at a very exorbitant price.
Nigeria as a country cannot refine crude that is under their feet.
Useless leaders without focus and direction.
Start building refinery even if you can't complete it and it must not be in the north because of the cost of pipeline installation and crude transportation.

If this "No more subsidy" statement is true then it's a welcome development.

I pray coronavirus (Covid-19) reset our coro-idiot government officials and every one close to power. Once their brain is reset to coro-sense, they should go into action and do the the following:

Our refinery should work in full capacity.

Our hospital should be well equipped.

Our healthcare workers (Especially in government hospital) salary should be upgraded.

Our security system and judiciary should be overhaul.

Our Ports (Warri, Calabar and Port Harcourt) should be utilized to reduce delay in clearing of goods at Lagos.

And government should award road contract to contractor that will give 3-5yrs guarantee.

Let the above be the change we expect.

Oil isn't bad and shud be a blessing bt our over dependence on it is ridiculous, even the US doesn't depend on its oil that much. UAE/Dubai have used it to their long-term good bt here our leaders are behaving like mentally challenged people who can't plan for just next 5/10 years adequately.

Obasanjo and yaradua are the only ones who didn't try to depend on oil and had long-term plans.

The rest were myopic idiots and criminals.

Don't be deceived. Since they are now broke,
they won't go after looted funds, they won't ask politicians to validate the source of their wealth, they won't cut down on frivolous spending, hell no will they make government more efficient.

What they have done is to simply pass the burden of any price increase to the citizens.

No matter how bad a government looks, there are people who will benefit from such government, that doesn't mean that those people are in the government or at the corridor of power, in as much people criticize a government for poor policies etc, wealth will still be created.....

Though I don't believe in this government because they don't have the will power to execute most of their policies......
I will categorically tell you that I have benefited from the past and current government....

I don't depend on Nigerian government, I only depend on God for success, I look at government policies and find a way align myself and get maximum result.

In a nutshell, the Mr.Kyari has spoken well, but let's see if they will implement their nice plans.

But the greatest Zombies are those who are not government employees but depend on the government for their daily bread / survival but start crying when their hopes are dashed.

NEXT TIME VOTE WISELY.

Another dimension to tell the people to prepare for pump price increase. Yes we know where the pendulum is swinging toward. This is the same subsidy removal that necessitated the increase of pump price when you guys came on board and all the promises that the subsidy removal would accrue to us have not been fulfilled. In all of my existence I have not witnessed a system that is so deceitful and pretentious as this! I pray this covid-19 pandemic would teach the rulers some lessons.

Remember that the oil marketers belong to an association which might force thier member to sale at a range of price which might probably be exobitant

Am of the openion that govt should regulate the price.

My friend keep ur mouth shut if u don't understand or know what to say!

The sharp drop in crude oil in d international market would've given rise to sharp drop in d petroleum product locally but d only drop we witnessed is a paltry 125 or 123,50. It would've reduced below this but for d subsidy removal.

This is d best time for govt to subsidize but if they don't, then we will b into a big mess subsequently if d price of crude at d international market improves. Then it will b difficult for us to remove subsidy regime and any attempt at that, will inflict untold hardship on d masses.

Prior to 2o15 if there was a prophesy that PMB and inept apc will scame the people, nobody would have believe. This is a man who said" l don't know subsidy". He won the election, proceed to increase fuel price from N87/ litre to N145/litre only to turn around to pay the highest subsidies to cronies. The roads, hospitals, factories, refineries, power, security, food etc promised are now been built and florishing in the sky. The secretes they have been keeping as to no subsidies has now leaked. Of what benefit is the removal of N20/ litre to the common man? Why not mantain the normal PRICE and use the excess to equiped our hospitals and deplorable roads, health care, power etc. Transporters still mantian same fare and even higher. Where did they kept their brain? God help us. This covid-19 has help to expose the ineffectiness of this govt DE- service to the people. Only on radio and paper palatives are BEING distributted to the citizens. When will all these LIES come to an end?!

Please people should stop comparing bthe telecoms sector to the oil industry. There is absolutely NO basis of comparison.

Govt never regulated the cost of calls, even when it was only NITEL running everything in the telecoms sector. NITEL had no competition back then.

All govt did was to liberalise the sector, by allowing GSM companies to come in. A bidding session was held, frequencies were sold, and new firms came in to provide telecoms services.

There was already pent up demand, but zero infrastructure, so the new firms had to start building backhaul to carry voice traffic on the GSM network.

Initially only two firms appeared on the horizon - MTN and CELTEL (which later became Zain, VMobile and finally Airtel).

Other firms were later licenses to join them (i.e. Etisalat and Glo).

Prices were never fixed for this sector so the question of deregulation never featured. Instead, it was competition and new entrants that drive down the pricing.

Glo came in with per second billing, and that was the game changer for the industry. Other firms who had initially declined to offer the same pricing, had to get in board in order to remain competitive....
