consul general is basically an Ambassador. If they do anything to any ambassador of any control at all... They'll get the full wrath of every other nation. If you don't know countries are already considering taking legal and serious actions against China. Doing anything to the CG would worsen the perception people have of them.

The Chinese official had nothing to say. She even denied that coronavirus started in Wuhan when the Nigerian CG mentioned it. She denied and was going to argue. She was speechless when the Nigerian mentioned that passports belonging to Nigerians were confiscated, she even wanted to deny that it happened till the CG proved her wrong by saying that he retrieved the passports and that those were properties of Federal government of Nigeria and that China has no right in taking the passports away from their legitimate bearers.

Those people have been living in China legally. The CG told the Chinese official not to be discriminatory towards Nigerians. Those who came into the country were quarantined for two weeks and the CG argued that they should’ve been given some document to prove that instead of attempting to take them into further isolation.
