No amjaris in Kano again, they've long been taken off to Niger etc, that's since last year before the Pandemic
Are you being serious here? Maybe for your side in Kano, I live in Kano and there are many Almajiris here

My fear now is KANO STATE. We need God's intervention for them. If u know Kano people well, you'll understand the reason to fear.

I agree with you. The increased testing will reveal more cases not only in Kano but in other states as well.

The shit is getting real. NCDC had been romancing us with low figures in the past. Let's brace up ourselves, encourage physical distancing, wash our hands at all times, use the surgical mask and continue to pray.

pursuing Lagos
Kano has always wanted to compete with Lagos before now, most especially for population.

Center of Excellence vs Center of Commerce

The northern part of the country has just began her COVID19 journey.

Exactly my thoughts, Kano has always wanted to compete with Lagos in numbers, watch as they're going to release crazy figures daily!

This is getting serious.... But the increase in the number of confirmed cases could be as a result of increased tests.
May God help us all

Our Egungun don finally enter express, na to dey pray sey make motor no jam am remain.

Hopefully, those silly northern governors can now wake up to their responsibilities. Kano hitting 12 in a day should wake up every single one of them. If things get out of hand in Kano, the entire north west will be messed up. The time to lockdown the entire country is now.
Which lockdown, do you think that there is a genus lock down in the country

Are they still bringing this virus in? And why are cases just been discovered, where are these ones getting the virus, they need to tell us more how these figures are been made... Nigerians need details, the new cases discovered, were they infected by the ones still in isolation or the discharged already...we need VAR in dis scenario grin . THE lockdown don tire us, if this is just a way to loot, abeg loot without using Covid19 o because we all need to get back to our earnings o

The figure from Kano is troubling because the state is densely populated. If one of those Almajiri children contracts the virus, it will spread like wildfire in the state.

The truth is that there is so many Almajiris still roaming the streets in Da state,

Why can't NCDC give accurate number of samples tested? So that we have correct perspective on these new cases.

On their website it has remained >5000 for the past one week.

With the increment in testing capacity coronavirus will soon be contained

Kudos to the NCDC,their effort is highly commendable.
The increased in positive cases is due to increase testing, it's no cause for alarm as the graph must increase and afterwards come down
Indeed.

I ran away from Kano three weeks ago when there was no case and Lagos was just starting to boil.

They're in for a very very very long ride.

Well, it won’t help to heighten our fears, we are already getting used to the increasing numbers. To the dreamers saying it will soon be over, this and that, they can please save us the hackneyed consolation.

People complain that Edo state has not ordered lockdown, some are blaming the Federal government for extending lockdown, who are the hypocrites, really? A time might come when people themselves will be begging to be on an enduring lockdown without the government admonitions.

The most inane quote ever seen on Nairaland undecided

Seun:
We’ve seen this play out all over the world. By not testing enough, people are deceived into thinking the virus is not spreading. Meanwhile, the virus keeps spreading on the down-low. When they finally start testing, there is an explosion of new cases. In some cases the virus spreading has advanced to a point where they lost all hope of containing it and only test people with major symptoms who need to be hospitalized.

There is no alternative to testing. Lockdown and even wearing face-masks will only slow it down. Testing sufficiently can stop the virus. If you can find all the people that are currently infected and isolate them, the diseases can no longer spread. You have to keep testing as many people as you can and eventually it will get to a point where the new cases will start dropping. It happened in South Korea and Taiwan. The longer you wait, the more massive the testing you have to do to contain the virus. Not containing it is not an option.

The policy of only testing people with travel history was terribly, comically, and obviously unwise.

Thank you, this is exactly the point I have been hammering. With less test, we'll have this scourge spreading within the population silently and exploding suddenly.

More medical laboratories should be designated as testing or collection centres. Infact private labs should be brought into fold (as long the FG can supply them with Biosafety level 4 PPE equipments and funds) and designated as collection centres where people can go submit samples for onward transfer to a centralized covid-19 testing laboratory.

We can have at least 1 collection centre private lab per local government to gather samples and send to centralized medical molecular labs.

There is no other way.
