They get to appoint commissioners and heads of parastastals, prepare a budget, can impose curfews, sign bills to become law. In fact governors are mini-presidents.

Ministers can be fired at any time. Governors only by the electorate, HoA or the courts.
A governor can siphon billions without breaking a sweat.
No comparison at all.
