Good evening OP.
I want to give in my candid contribution. For clarity sake... This is not coming from the bank (not that it can't)

This compromise or leakages is coming from the BVN platform and I can prove it beyond every reasonable point... Because am tired of customer or the general public pointing accusing fingers on us...

I enrolled a customer on BVN. Normally it takes 24hours for BVN to be proved. Due to some factors, I couldn't open the account within 36 hours (3 days).

To my surprise, they called my customer that I haven't open an account to, to go to the bank and pick up her ATM card afterwards send them the cards details for proper maintenance...

(Take note, BVN is not the property of any bank.. The same people managing National ID are same people managing your BVN. Its federal government initiative.)

Sometimes you get confused how they got to know your bank, its simple.

They get that information from your BVN, on your BVN (if verified,) there's a colon that shows the bank u enrolled your BVN from....

For those once that called to tell you that they are calling you from your bank....

These set of fraudster are either not from the bank or BVN system.... They get your information From social media... Trust me when they approach you with that line, they don't know your bank...
They are using psychology on you... If your not careful, you'll be the one feeding them with information that they will in turns, use them against you. So be careful....

Please my people spread the gospel....
Na so one called me and he said he is calling from my bank and I said which bank . He then paused for sometimes and said your bank now Union Bank plc meanwhile I don't even accounts with Union bank. Though I played along for sometimes before he cut me off. Bad market. We just laugh over it in the office.

What a useless country.
The fraudsters even continues to use the same number for long now and our useless intelligence can't track them down for a good mob action before hanging.

What a shame.

I'm sure it'd be one on this mischievous sacked staff of a bank...

Based on your moniker, I wonder which country God is actually punishing now.

customers will always talk. But what remains true is that one should never reveal his secret pin to fraudsters. Forget about how they get their details, even the devil knows your name too.

I am not surprised because we have criminals working as bank staff. One time I withdrew counterfeit currency from a bank's atm. Most of these bankers are thiefs and fraudsters looking for vulnerable victims.

Alot of Nigerians are being tricked by various apps on the play store to reveal their bvn...most of these apps are run by criminal networks all over the world.

Some unscrupulous people are also tricking Nigerians to give up their bvn when registering for national ID.
My gf was asked to provide her bvn when she went to register her national ID recently.
Fortunately for her she called me and I advised against giving it up.

Someone should correct me if I'm wrong but is bvn number now a requirement for registering a national ID card?

NIMC already registered NIN for everybody that has a BVN.

When such a person comes, they just regularize the data.

That is the reason, when you come to them, they ask for BVN in order to pull out the data.

It is real. A neighbor was also called. They told her she will receive a code which she did. She called out the code to them and that was all. Her money was wiped. She didn't even divulge any card details.

They fooled her. The code sent to her was an authentication code for a transaction, and it is meant to be her last line of defense.

Immediately she provided the code, she has inadvertently authorised the transaction.

Posted April 23rd, and making front page after 1 month.
If truly there was a leakage of confidential information, or fraudsters were making progress in their hack, it will take a month for the mods to put it on their domain's front page.

But write about Regina Daniels tattoo, or snake killed in a bush... And watch how it will be on the front page.

To OP...
I don't think having your BVN by those fraudsters will gain them access to your money. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Most transactions will require either your pin, secret question's answer, signature or their combinations.
In all, let everyone be careful with their details.
That's what you get when incompetent people who place more priority on news of snakes being killed at a farm and E-money stepping out looking dapper on suit are appointed as mods/supermods of the biggest forum in Africa. This is not the Nairaland some of us use to known from way back late 2000s to around 2012-13 where educative, Informative and rich contents grace the front page.

Keep supporting your Yahoo brother or relative okay. Now the fowl don come house long ago to crow.

An elderly man (pensioner) in Benin city was scammed 1.6m of all his savings. The thief is in one side balling away his kidney and health.

Politicians that cause your so called predicament are there enjoying their lives and you turn to your fellow struggling man to unleashed your evil on them?

Whoever that support evil doers is worst than them. Capital punishment is what they all deserved.

In January we invited the officials to.come to our office for 2 days (naturally we paid them), to register all staff and their families (on the side if you get what I mean). They requested our BVN number as well as the phone number linked to it.

guys. Please no one can do anything with your money bybkbowing your BVN. BVN is not a secret number. It takes a banks cooperation to work out any activity without your consent and they will become liable.

Here is what they do, whenever they want to load the machine, they exchange some of the real notes with the fake ones and mix them together in the machine for customers to withdraw. That way they steal the real notes

You're an idiot for bringing tribalism into a thread that has nothing to do with it. The cheap scammer that called you is ill-educated just like you have ill-educated people in every tribe. You said yourself that bank workers are well trained and have good command of English. I don't need to remind that you that we have thousands of Yorubas working in banks and some of the MD/CEOs of top banks are Yoruba. Why then the incoherent insults of Yoruba Olodo nation and other gibberish you wrote in the screenshot attached to your post?

Seriously I don't understand what they need the date of birth for. One would feel it's stuff like ATM PIN and OTP code they'll need to steal your money.
