think before you talk, if you have surplus money all fingers are not equal
consider the low income citizens before any government can make policy, most Nigerian's are struggling with daily feeding. government should look into this situation critically before further actions

They are not well informed. Tell them if they want to go out they are free to go to New York or Italy and roam around freely since they don't understand the situation the World is in at this time. Rubbish

They are well informed, particularly by the walls of their stomach. Ordering a lockdown without providing adequate palliatives to cushion its effect is grossly unfair and insensitivity. US, Canada and other sane climes are providing cash and food aids to their citizens to encourage them to stay indoors. Have these guys been given any?

For those of you saying the govt should extended the lockdown to increase testing and contact tracing, let me answer you, did the number of test significantly increased during the additional lockdown from 5000 the first two weeks to 10000 plus for the second two weeks? Answer is NO.

A typical scenario is an Antelope that hid in a cave with nothing to eat for days and a Lion waiting patiently to feed on the antelope. Do you know naturally, after the antelope wait a while with no hope of food in the cave, the antelope will risk it and run with the hope he can outrun the lion and get to a safe place to get food, that is exactly how this situation we are battling with is at the moment. Whether you extend lockdown or not, people who need to go out and look for money to buy food will not stay at home because they cannot watch their young ones die of hunger.

The best the government can do is to implement a partial lockdown not a total lockdown. Total lockdown cannot work in poor African countries like Nigeria. Schools,Churches, Mosque,Parties, Clubs, crowded markets like trade fair, Computer village etc can stil remain closed for now. Commercial buses like Danfo in Lagos will either comply with conveying 60% load capacity or remain closed for now. Every citizen must wear a face mask and other preventive measures be in place. Those found wanting should be slammed with 2 Months prison sentence or 100k fine.

This is the best option for poor african countries because it is obvious the govt of Nigeria cannot even provide for 5% of its people.

the truth is that Nigerian government cannot afford an extension of the lockdown. if people cannot be provided for they'd fend for themselves.

is this a joke? grin grin grin grin grin provide these guys with Visa right now and I can assure you that area will be deserted
Who should provide them the visa then? Smh

That's not the reason and stop lying, the reason is because they are hungry and not allow to work.
Re: Lockdown: Ongoing Protest In My Area, At Ibeju Lekki by kokomilala(m): 11:53am On Apr 27, 2020
@Powerintoxicate, they've got the right to protest. The government, by fiat, took away this right initially. Then they boxed them into a crypt without food or anything. Protests are also going on in some states in America, like Texas and others.
The government, the world over, apart from Sweden, have acted impulsively and almost irresponsibly in locking down economies, because the concomitant effects are untold and disastrous.
It's not the time to shut down the economy. Africa cannot afford that, because she doesn't have the buffers to rely on.

Very pedestrian analysis. Why didn't you address the other equally key issues of hunger and conflict? It takes less than a minute for a bullet to extinguish life out of the healthiest person, it takes 3days for hunger to kill a human, it takes 14days for corona virus to even begin to manifest symptoms with a 95% recovery rate. You're a pseudo intellectual because you're too lazy to task your brain to carry out holistic analyses.
Powerintoxicate:
who's a pseudo intellectual? You definitely don't know what you saying. Ghana opened up like you suggesting and did you see their numbers? This is a war situation as the difference here is we battling a disease. You guys don't understand what you all writing here. The NMA has advised for a an extension. You don't have a say in this matter. Are you a doctor or a nurse? If shit spreads can you treat anyone? Only doctors and nurses have a say here cos they'll be in the Frontline when shit hits and they've advised for an extension. So go sit down your opinion is useless

Ipod envious cretin will bring their usual foolis.hness to the thread. Your people are protesting and dying of hunger in imo state but you won't face that. Your fooli.shness, jealousy and obsession with SW wont let you think straight.
If you investigate the people burning tyres in ibeju, you will discover that 80% of them are ipod miscreants who escaped poverty in the SE to sell gala in traffic in the state they hate the most. Animals
This foaming from both sides of your mouth in anger and guilt won't change what I said and the truth therein.

Whether the poorest is from southeast or not, the truth still states that people like you will still vote in 2023 out of tribal sentiments; and posterity won't be kind to those of you who vote incompetent people just to gloat over your stupidity.Karma will judge you all.

There are two sets of people
1, People who poor and hungry
2, People who are rich and afraid of COVID 19
New York and Italy people are not hungry , there is adequate provision for their feeding
So when U make example and comparison next time, think very well
I hope U understand
If U fo to scene right now with 10 bags of rice, they will stop rioting
Thanks

Lol...cry me a river. You animals wanted to vote Atiku because he is saint Michael or because he chose adaobi the gay man as running mate? The problem with you ipod idi.ots is that you don't use your head. It's always emotional sentiments. You want to vote Atiku over moghalu but come here to yap nonsense about other people who voted Buhari? With the way you id.iots brag and cry every day on the internet, one would think the whole of SE looks like Dubai, meanwhile ya'll running away from your region because its inhabitable.
This is the problem with you guys. You always vote out of spite and hatred.

How can a reasonable person compare buhari and atiku? On what grounds are you comparing them, Age? Education? Fairness? Exposure? How many companies does buhari as to atiku?

You wouldn't want me to compare osibanjo with Peter obi, would you?

This is my prayer for you, may your life be managed as buhari is managing Nigeria today and may my life be managed as Peter obi managed anambra state. Amen.
