COVID-19 Patient Flees Bauchi Isolation Centre by etokhana: 3:40pm On May 06, 2020
An unidentified patient, who tested positive for coronavirus in Bauchi, has fled from an isolation centre.

Bauchi Deputy Governor, Sen. Baba Tela, who is the Chairman of the Taskforce Response Committee on Lassa Fever and Coronavirus, confirmed the development to newsmen at the Government House ,Bauchi , the state capital while giving a situation update on Wednesday.

He said: ”We had at least a case where a patient ran away though we have security personnel at virtually all isolation centres but they are also humans. They have to protect themselves against further exposure to avoid more positive cases in the state”.

”Once a patient is diagnosed he/she ought to follow the medication recommended by the doctor, no patient should run away from isolation centre”

Tela did not disclose the identity of the fleeing patient but noted that manhunt has begun and urged members of the public to be vigilant.

bad...not a good news coming from naija abt this covid recently. the other day its Covid patients protesting and now they are running away from isolation centers and i think mayb its because they are not given a proper orientation abt this virus and that its beatable and not a death sentence or they face stigmatization or poor health medications and welfare inside the isolation centers because i see no reason Y sick people will run away from the hospital that can help them, or they feel happy running away to thier family which is a big risk because they can infect thier environment n thier family members too or they still think and believe this corona pandemic is a scam and not that deadly??

Ignorance is a disease.

So now that he has escaped isolation centre, how will.he be treated? Or is he thinking the isolation centre is actually a place for condemned Coronavirus patient?

Safest bet for anyone tested positive of the virus is to submit self to the isolation centre. Running away from the centre is pure ignorance. And it is this ignorance that will spread it more in the society until the govt is overwhelmed. Now, he has escaped to go and continue spreading it.

Mchew.
ignis:
In a sane clime, the government would have passed a law that any COVID-19 patient who abscond or escape from isolation center will be shot to death without trial.
Maybe this will reduce the number of these ugly occurrences.

Absconding or escaping the isolation center with COVID-19 is tantamount to wearing an explosive bomb round the market.
Pls which of the "sane climes" has ever done this to a COVID 19 patient?

Abi you sef just decide to use "sane climes" because you dey see people dey use am?

Don't come here and start blaming the victim for fleeing the centre... Your question should be; Are these isolation centres conducive enough for these patients?

Are they well taken care of by the government?

Apart from Lagos and Abuja..... Most of the isolation facilities in other states are nothing to write home about. So people feel safer and properly catered for at home than in these facilities.
