Illorin is now under Fulani wrap, next one is Lagos, plans are already on the way, dangote refinery already bought lands from Lagos, signed and sealed, so basically the area belongs to federal(fulani) government, give them another 20years and they will install emir in Lagos, like they did in Kwara state, muslims already controlled lagos, thats the first step to getting hold of Lagos, they know Nigeria won't last for ever, so Fulani getting a seaport state like Lagos is there main agenda,i just pity Yorubas they are not good in holding there territory cos of there accommodating nature, which the Fulani's used to there advantage in Illorin to install an emir, and Fulani's will never let Biafra go,until oil dries up and Lagos become there territory..

The ruling caste of Kwara state are Fulani's
They claim Fulani but are neither full blooded Fulanis nor can they speak the language.
The Ilorin people are more Yoruba than Fulani even the Emir,Chiefs and all. They bear Islamic names first, followed by Yoruba names then either another Islamic name or Yoruba name as surname. Even the Emir of Ilorin.

There are so many intricacies associated with Ilorin and as a historian that is what makes history interesting. The Illorin people have learnt to embrace and live with the intricacies of their history. Let us respect that.
After all how many of us can tell well detailed history of our ancestry beyond grandfather n at most great grand father.

I think the Ilorin people have a rich cultural heritage.

Actually:

Actually a huge number of fulanis breed with women from various tribes and origins, the tribe of their mothers has no relevance to them. Their mothers are just vessels to them. Just like the Arabs who have female African DNA.

A Fulani with a non Fulani mother is still considered 100% fulani

No Fulani is 100% Fulani. It is all about the paternal line.

Why then do you yorubas have an Emir of that land instead of an Alaafin or Oba?
You can even greet Emir Sulu-Gambari Alimi with 'kabiyesi o'. You'll be thrown out of the palace.

Please I need an answer. I want to learn bcus I'm a history student.

Being a student of history, go and read these books: History of Yoruba by Reverend Samuel Johnson and Ilorin: The journey so far by L.A.K. Jimoh. You will understand the whole thing.

I never said that Fulani's are the majority, the ruling caste are Fulani's by way of conquer and culture assimilation. Similar to the Tutsi in Rwanda that make up less than 10% of the population but control the political base of that country.

Fulani's are astute politician, they are the political caste and current president in Senegal, Nigeria, Gambia and Guinea Bissau and the major opposition leaders in B Faso, Guinea, Niger and CAR. They adopted the Hausa culture and rule over them, the second-largest slaveholding country in the 1800s was the Sokoto Caliphate to this present day, the Hausa are the underclass across Nigeria despite having the richest culture in West Africa. There is close social similarity between today Hausa and Africa- America in the US, both ethnic group are currently underclass of their respective country and were in servitude in the 1800s.

Unfortunately for the Fulani's, western civilisation and modern technology have superseded Islamic and nomadic culture, that were instrument that Fulani's elites used to dominate and assimilate their conquered victims. Over the coming decades, Fulani's dominance will begin to wane as West African will be force to industrialise, thereby replacing Fulani's feudal elites with a professional middle class elite.

Actually we don't let the yoruba claim Lagos, and we don't let the Yoruba speak on our behalf, but the Yoruba are scam artists.
They will rewrite your own history before your very eyes, you will of course know they are lying but the unsuspecting foreigner would believe they speak on your behalf. They lie too much.
You saw what happened between the Oba if Lagos and the ooni of ife.
The ooni took Yoruba madness to a new level by claiming Lagos was founded by an ife prince and the Oba of Lagos didn't like that Yoruba lie and showed his appreciation to the ooni of ife.

4) ife Republic

6) Yoruba Republic

The emperor of Benin empire is titled:
OMO N'OBA N'EDO. Oba in short.

In the precolonial era, Yoruba chiefs didn't refer to themselves as "Oba". Rather they referred to themselves as ooni, alafin...
In the colonial era Yoruba chiefs started naming themselves in the following manner: "ooni of ife, sir adeyemi", "alafin of oyo, sir adetoye"...
Notice the introduction of two non Yoruba words: "of" and "sir".
The "sir" is a word from English nobility which the yorubas borrowed from the British in order to add some prestige to their titles.

However, later in the colonial era, the Yoruba dropped the word "sir" and replaced it with the word "Oba", yet an other non Yoruba word.

The word Oba belongs to Benin empire, it is how Benin empire calls it's emperor as witnessed by European visitors in the middle ages.

Basically, Yoruba copy other tribes a lot:
2) emir from Fulani
3) "sir" from the British
1) Oba from Benin

Even some Benin traditional swords were copied by the Yoruba.

You guys like to imitate other people's cultures, face this fact and move on.

Rather than claiming what is actually yours (illorin) you are too busy trying to claim the emperor of Benin empire as a "random Yoruba Oba".
Well it is good to dream, but reality says otherwise.
When you copy other people's titles you should say thank you to the people, not turn around to claim those peoples king belongs to you.

Ogiso are myths. Ife is a small village while Benin is an empire. What Yoruba like you confuse with Benin empire is its capital Benin city.
You guys just love to claim other people's cultures.
Your ooni recently tried to claim Igbo.
Your people here are trying to claim gambari...
You used to claim "sir".
Now you are claiming Oba...
Can you see the pattern ?
You are a tribe of ungrateful copycats.
Soon enough you will be claiming emir.
Your ooni also recently claimed the internet is derived from IFA...

Put this in your scull, Yoruba are not conquerors, they are a conquered bunch: much if the Yoruba descend from slaves who were liberated in the Americas and dumped on our shores, some of you guys are brainwashed Edos, some are oyos, some are dahomians, some are Ijebu...You have never conquered, you have always been conquered by whomever tried you. This might be the reason you want to attach to Benin with such desperation.
