1. Changi Airport, Singapore
The focal point of Singapore’s status as a world-class aviation hub, Changi Airport is an unforgettable tourist destination in its own right. With a slew of accolades to its name, Singapore’s main airport boasts a trove of exciting activities, from shopping and dining to entertainment.

The airport comprises four terminals and Jewel Changi, a ten-storey lifestyle hub that seamlessly links to Terminals 1, 2 and 3, and fuses artistry, architecture and nature into a single structure.

Much like Singapore—which is globally renowned as a ‘City in A Garden’—Changi Airport is home to green spaces and verdant gardens for travellers looking to unwind and stretch their legs after a long flight.

To witness the most spectacular of these spaces, take a stroll over to Jewel Changi, and marvel at the HSBC Rain Vortex, a 40-metre-high indoor waterfall flanked on all sides by tropical plants and over 2,000 trees.

Smaller spaces that are no less charming include the Butterfly Garden at Terminal 3, the Sunflower Garden at Terminal 2 and the Cactus Garden at

Terminal 1—featuring over 100 species of cacti and arid plants.

Nature lovers visiting the latter will be able to deepen their knowledge of nature’s intricacies, as they witness butterflies emerging from their chrysalides at the Emergence Enclosure.

The airport has a moving, hypnotizing sculpture called Kinetic Rain. And someone tried to steal parts of it.

Made in 2012, the sculpture, found at Terminal 1, is composed of 1,216 bronze raindrops. The brainchild of artists as well as programmers of German firm Art+Com Studios, it took two years to build the artwork. Occupying more than 75 square meters with a height of 7.3 meters, the piece is the largest of its kind in the world.

2. Haneda Airport, Tokyo
The Haneda Airport, also called as the Tokyo International Airport, is one of the principal airports that serve the Greater Tokyo Area and is considered as the principal base of Japan’s two major domestic airlines, Terminal 1 Japan Airlines, Terminal 2 All Nippon Airways and at the same time, the Air Do, Skymark Airlines, Solaseed Air, and StarFlyer.

From 1978 to 2010, the Haneda Airport was the principal international airport that handles and serves Tokyo, Japan. Domestic flights to and from Tokyo is being handled by Haneda. Also, the Haneda Airport caters scheduled chartered flights to a minimal number of big and major cities in the East Asia.

Haneda Airport is considered as the third busiest airport in Asia and the fourth busiest airport in the world following Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Beijing Capital International Airport (busiest airport in Asia) and Dubai International Airport. Estimated passengers per year after the expansion in 2010 are 90 million.

Though Tokyo Haneda might have been bested by Singapore's Changi in the main "World's Best Airport" category, it did snag the "World's Best Domestic Airport" and "World's Cleanest Airport" prizes.

3. Hamad International Airport, Qatar
Hamad International is Qatar’s new airport, opened in 2014 next to the city of Doha and the glittering Arabian Gulf.

The airport operates a partnership with Qatar Museums to display works of art throughout its terminals. Some were created especially for the airport by local artists, such as a desert horse sculpture by Ali Hassan and large-scale murals by FarajDaham.

There are also pieces acquired from international artists including ‘Other Worlds’ by American sculptor Tom Otterness – a large bronze figure which features slides and seats. The museum also runs a café and store within the airport.

The seven-metre-high canary-yellow Lamp Bear by Swiss artist Urs Fischer sits inside a lamp at the centre of the airport’s duty-free hall.

The bronze sculpture weighs 35,000 pounds and was previously displayed on New York’s Park Avenue, before reportedly being snapped up by a member of the Qatar royal family for just over $6.8m.

Formerly known as New Doha International Airport, Hamad International Airport is the main airport for the city of Doha, the capital of Qatar. It is the operating base for the national carrier, Qatar Airways.

The airport is relatively new, having only opened to the public in 2014. It has one terminal and two parallel runways. Work on a final phase of development of the airport is expected to increase Hamad’s capacity from 30 million passengers per year to 50 million.

In January 2017 Hamad Airport became the first ever airport in the Middle East to earn a 5-star award from Skytrax, making it into their list of the top 10 airports in the world for that year.

4. Incheon International Airport, South Korea
The capital of South Korea, Seoul, is an amalgamation of history, technology, culture and the future. Seoul Incheon Airport is no different.

Replacing Seoul Gimpo Airport in 2001, Incheon was constructed to serve aviation demand with a 21st century twist and evolve as a hub in Northeast Asia.

Incheon’s uniqueness is exemplified in its amenities and the continued acclaim for its infrastructure. For example, the airport has an ice skating rink, casino, golf course, spa, private sleeping rooms, indoor gardens, and a Museum of Korean Culture.

Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) has most recently pushed to evolve the facility’s digital prowess.

fleet of robots are on hand to help passengers navigate the airport. These friendly helpers will scan your boarding pass and escort you to your gate, conversing with you in any of four languages -- Korean, English, Mandarin and Japanese.

When not directly interacting with passengers, the robots helpfully wander around flashing final boarding calls.

Robots at Incheon are not only there to help guide passengers, however. There's also a model tasked with making sure the new terminal is kept clean and tidy, remembering where the dirtiest places are and efficiently working its way around like a giant Roomba.

5. Munich Airport, Germany

The first thing that might strike you as something different when you enter Munich Airport is its aesthetic appeal.

CEO Michael Kerkloh boasts that “it is the most beautiful airport in Europe. Or at least, one of the most beautiful large airports in the world.” And that’s no happy accident.

Michael says it is a priority to keep the airport beautiful; it helps to create the pleasant travel experience passengers are seeking and that Munich Airport strives to deliver.

As well as the architecturally designed airport itself, there is an assortment of permanently installed artworks selected from Munich Airport’s regular exhibitions, which add to the urban landscape of the airport.

You will find the shops and the terminal itself is very Munich-oriented. So you know that you are in Munich when you’re passing through,” Michael says.

Not only a visual feast, there are 50 distinct and multicultural restaurants and bars within the airport, including an onsite brewery, quick and inexpensive meal options and fine dining experiences.

Once refreshed, visitors can enjoy the world class shopping, or try something new. There are surfing and polo events, a car showroom, a mini golf course, and even more for the children.

Kids are able to run wild in the aviation themed playgrounds, participate in arts and crafts, or get on board the ‘adventure plane’ featuring ball pits, video games and a cinema. Of course, there are also hotels and sleeping pods for those who are in need of some rest and relaxation.

6. Hong Kong International Airport

Hong Kong International Airport is the main airport in Hong Kong. It is colloquially known as Chek Lap Kok Airport, being built on the island of Chek Lap Kok by land reclamation, and also to distinguish it from its predecessor, the closed Kai Tak Airport. The airport opened for commercial operations in 1998, replacing Kai Tak, and is an important regional trans-shipment centre, passenger hub and gateway for destinations in Mainland China (with over 40 destinations) and the rest of Asia. HKIA also operates one of the world's largest passenger terminal buildings (the largest when opened in 1998) and operates 24 hours a day.

It is the third busiest airport in terms of passengers in Asia, and second busiest in the world in terms of cargo traffic.

The airport has a highly advanced highway and railway system linking it to the city of Hong Kong. The building project was one of the largest in the world, and featured in Discovery Channel's "Ten Greatest Modern Projects of the World". It was designed by the famous architect, Norman Foster.

The aim of the airport was to increase traffic and capacity which the old Kai Tak Airport could not handle. It remains one of the best airport in the world, along with Singapore's Changi Airport and Seoul's Incheon International Airport.

It is a hugely important hub for the region, connecting much of Asia with the rest of the world. It is home to one of the world’s largest terminal buildings.

7. Narita International Airport, Tokyo

Narita International Airport is a Japanese airport in Chiba, near Tokyo. It is one of the two primary airports in the Tokyo region.

One of Narita International Airport's main attractions is the observation decks. The two main terminals have free observation decks where you can relax and watch the airplanes take off and land.

While all airports offer food, shopping and relaxation, Narita International Airport also offers a taste of traditional Japanese culture.

Its Kabuki Gate hosts free events throughout the year like tea ceremony demonstrations, calligraphy demonstrations, and musical performances. It displays kabuki costumes and other cultural artifacts all year round.

One unique feature of Narita International Airport is its Narico app. Narico is like Siri, but she's designed just for NRT. Ask Narico and she'll tell you what services the airport offers and where to find them. Narico is in English and available for both Android and iOS.

Pet Inn Royal Hotel is set within the airport and operate 24 hours a day, allowing doting pet owners to rest assured that their furry friends will be looked after well while they are on their trip.

The hotel can house up to 250 dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets and hamsters and offers not only cages and cabins but standard rooms, deluxe rooms and even suites. Facilities include an animal hospital, a large outdoor dog-walking area and a pet gym.

9. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

Schiphol Airport, or Luchthaven Schiphol in Dutch, is the largest and most important airport in the Netherlands. Located near Amsterdam, it's a significant air traffic hub and the third largest airport in Europe.

An airport first opened on the site in September 1916 as a World War I military airbase. By 1940, it was a commercial airport with four runways. It was destroyed during World War II but was rebuilt in 1949, when it became the main airport for the Netherlands.

Schiphol is housed in one large terminal, broken down into three departure halls with 90 gates. It offers service from 108 global carriers and is a hub for KLM and Corendon Dutch Airlines, as well as a European hub for Delta Air Lines and EasyJet. Schiphol has five runways and flights to 322 destinations.

There is quite the art collection at this airport, as part of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam Schiphol.

10. Kansai International Airport, Osaka, Japan

Kansai International Airport (KIX) is the world’s first ocean airport, built on a landfill island in Osaka Bay, Japan.

Opened in 1994, KIX was a modern engineering marvel, built entirely as an artificial island. Because the site is built upon compacted fill, it suffers from subsidence, sinking 2-4 centimeters per year.

The Kansai terminal is 1.7 kilometers long, and was designed by world-famous architect Renzo Piano. KIX is linked to the mainland by a 3.7-kilometer bridge, and provides air service for the nearby cities of Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto.

Four months after opening, the airport was severely tested by the magnitude 6.7 Kobe earthquake; it survived with only minor damage, and provided continuous operation during the relief efforts.

Changi airport in Singapore is truly an architectural masterpiece. You can literally spend hours marvelling and gaping. It looks like paradise tbh cheesy

I would disagree with Schiphol airport being on that list. If the list was just about landmass, maybe but the airport is no more as beautiful and definitely not as neat. Not nicely maintained too.

I would pick Dubai airport, The new Instanbul airport, heck even the airport in Muscat over this.
