Hi Fellow NL peeps.
On 15th March as my company was preparing for the lockdown, I decided to plant some shombo(bawa) pepper seeds in my mini garden.
Origin of seeds: I bought the pepper for cooking from a mallam close to my house and when I saw the pepper has quite a lot of seeds I decided to plant some of the seeds.

Surprisingly, the seeds germinated and where doing fine. I manured it and kept watering it as per need basis. I kept a daily check on it.
After a while it began flowering and attracting bees and other insects but what I noticed is that over 2 weeks after flowering I have not seen a sign of pepper fruit even attempting to grow.

The best I saw are some small green round shape fruit that came and after a week the small round stuffs turn brown and dry off.

Does anyone have an experience in growing this as I am tempted now to cut it off.

Picture 3 & 4 - Closer look at the leaves and the green round looking fruit it bring out. Dont know what the fruit is.

Picture 5 - This shows the green fruit turned into brown and dry off. Dont know what is happening.

But on a serious note, Madam, even if you wake me up from my deepest dream, if I see a pepper leaf or plant, I can easily identify one........But for this plant here, How a pepper seed germinated into this plant with an unfriendly leaves and strands is still a mystery to me too....

The Mallam that sold the pepper fruits to you should be invited for interrogation....

I dont know whether to laugh or cry... I have tended this thing for almost 3 month...

I dont want to believe I wasted months tending to this... Funny thing is that I did spread the pepper seeds on an arear of the garden and it all sprouted the same time (i think in about a week)... I still find it difficult to believe that this is a weed.

Looking at your pictures, what you have there is weed, Not Pepper. Sorry boss!!!

Absolutely correct Oga mi.
Usually grows when pepper is nursed.
That weed loves pepper dieeeee

So painful you have to spend over 2 months taking care of weed.
OP, assuming it was pepper that really germinated, would you have allowed them flowering and fruiting in that nursery cluster?

yes that is funny because, your planting approach was totally wrong.

LOL. I didnt raise them in a nursery, I only broadcasted the seeds around.

at oga okoroemeka, i have access to Tokyo cucumber seed, just that I prefer Murano . it's readily available

FarmGang, in your place I would also lay down some weed barriers, like these ( here: https://bestyardproducts.com/best-weed-barriers/ ), just to separate flowers, plants and trees from weed when it's needed. Not on the whole square of garden, but in some places. It's a great thing, which I found few weeks ago.

May be you missed were you plant your sombo up. That is a weed called Croton you can read further about it at http://publish.plantnet-project.org/project/riceweeds_en/collection/collection/information/details/CVNHI

That is not pepper at all,know what a crop look like,visit similar farms,it seed b4 U plant.
