The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has demanded the extradition of a 26-year old Nigerian, Olaniyi Makinde, in connection with e-mail scams currently valued at about USD800,000.

A source at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said the FBI is particularly interested in Mr. Makinde, who is currently standing trial in Ondo State, because of the peculiarity of the scam method which involved remotely breaking into the accounts system of an online payroll company in California, Intuit Inc.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the EFCC, Femi Babafemi, declined to speak in details about the case but our source also said that the EFCC and the FBI have been working together on this case since last year adding that while the FBI would like to try Mr. Makinde in the US, the EFCC want him tried in Nigeria.

Amongs other charges in the 23-count charge brought against the 26-year old, the EFCC said that Mr. Makinde managed to manipulate the American online payroll system to deposit cash in his Intercontinental and Ecobank accounts in Nigeria.

“He installed malicious codes in several victims’ personal computers with which he fraudulently stole their bank information to steal $600, 000,” an official document obtained by NEXT said.

“Because of that boy, three FBI agents came to Nigeria in October. They wanted to see the person that could carry out this deal offshore,” our source at the EFCC said.

The accused, Mr. Makinde, who also goes by the aliases Olaniyi James and Andrea Bradley, recently graduated from the University of Ado Ekiti with a degree in Economics and is scheduled to take part in the compulsory National Youth Service scheme.

He however remains in the custody of Nigeria’s anti-graft agency which said that if convicted of the over 20 count charges brought against him, Mr. Makinde could serve as much as 60 years in jail.

We can all agree that anything that mentions an Igbo name, will bring out the rabid tribalist that roam around Nairaland. Let this man be an Igbo man, and we would not hear the last of it. People on Nairaland are something else. Even the FBI wants this man, because of his foolishness. Maybe he should learn to have a honest living.

Hilarious!!!!!!!! grin grin grin grin grin grin

But on a more serious note, when will Nigerians stop embarassing the country? If they are not killing each other in a political turned religious crisis, they are wanna-be sucide bombers or busy scamming? Its such a shame really, why not channel the brain and energy towards a good course instead of all these rubbish.
Rebranding Nigeria really! May God help this country

While diz guy has committed a nasty crime that normally bring shame to Nigerians outside Nigeria shore, however, there is something "unique" in his act. e-Crimes like this are not easy to pull-off especially from an off-shore base (Naija 4 dat matter). FBI will not stop until they "download" his brain content.
If he could do it, they know there are many other guys out there in Naija or other places that are doing it or planning to do it. Imagine this guy has got an intelligent brain to write codes, infusing them into a secured website to manipulate payrolls and went on to move dat kind sum of money. I wish Naija, one day, will get to a level where our talents will be harnessed only for positive impacts on our motherland and and d world at large.

Foolish boy, why steal directly into your account? well to some people he's a genius, to others, he's as foolish as other Nigerians who watch their politicians milk them dry.

One more thing, the FBI might want to recruit him, so he can be used to hack into my banks as payback grin

Not your run of the mill 419er, seems quite a bit more talented/sharper.

Keep fooling yourself

He is going to be locked up for a very long time

A notorious hacker Max Butler, known also as Max Ray Vision as well as under the nickname Iceman, was sentenced to 13 years in federal prison by US District Court in Pittsburgh. He was found guilty of hacking financial firms and stealing nearly two million credit card numbers from banks, businesses and other hackers. It is the longest sentence hackers have ever received for their crimes in the US.

Max Butler was charged with wire fraud and identity theft. Above the 13 year sentence Butler will also face five years of supervised release and must pay US$27.5 million in restitution to his victims.

Butler pleaded guilty to wire fraud charges in June last year. He participated in hacking into carder forum websites, where stolen credit card numbers are bought and sold. Butler would persuade the members to conduct their business through his own website CardersMarket.com. Criminals used the stolen credit card numbers to create fake debit and credit cards that were then used to steal money or merchandise.

I guess in comparison with your typical cocaine-in-anus drug mule, he comes out looking pretty good wink

Bu.lshit, who will work in the US, they have thousands of people who can do that, but they are not die-wanna b millionaires, only Igbo and yorubas savi that business, stealing, Internet Barawo.

Its easy money making than cocaine-in-anus business, what a foolish barawo who cannot even remove his tracks and erace all tracable transactions and IPs, better learn how to delete server's log, and use highly anonymous and advanced proxies through secured VPNs next time, but for this one you will end up in 13 Years in US jail.
