…opens bid for four other rail projects, clears 47 secondary drainage channels By Olasunkanmi Akoni

Lagos State Government has said the first phase of the ongoing construction of 27-kilometer Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line project from Marina to Okokomaiko will be ready in 2022.

This came as government added that it has reinvigorated the environmental sector in the last one year, restoring the mandate of agencies and making the state cleaner.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde and Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tunji Bello, made these assertions on Wednesday, during the 2020 ministerial briefing as part of activities to commemorate the first year in office of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the Governor of Lagos State.

According to Oladeinde, “the blue and red lines rail projects remain the flagship transport developments of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.

“The Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line project is a 27-kilometer rail project from Marina to Okokomaiko.

“The first phase of the project, that is Marina to Mile 2, is expected to commence passenger operation by the second quarter of 2022.

“The Red Line will share track with the standard gauge track of the Lagos – Ibadan Rail Modernisation project of the Federal Government. It is planned to commence passenger operations also in the second quarter of 2022.

“The state is currently evaluating bids submitted by investors for four other rail lines recently advertised for expression of interest on design-build-operate-maintain-and-transfer basis.

“The four lines are 68-kilometre Green Line from Marina to Lekki Free Zone, 60-kilometre Purple Line from Redemption Camp to Ojo, 34-kilometre Yellow Line from Otta to National Theatre and 48- kilometre Orange Line from Ikeja to Agbowa.”

Every year they are moving it.....Years after Fashola brought down houses.

Just to even repair the roads is a problem.....people who live there are animals to them.....If Una like make Una leave am!

Fashola remains the best thing to happen to that area though.....the rest before or after him.........mtchew

That will be a welcome development by the Lagos government.

Imagine someone living in Ogun state, working in Lagos
Or someone living in ibadan, working in Lagos and vice versa.

Ogun and Oyo state governments should make use of their head and tap from Lagos closeness.

Im not surprised the governor's 2021 deadline got pushed back. It sounded too optimistic before the pandemic. Oh we'll see if the state gets the job done this time or pushes it back again. This project would make the state commuter friendly. It's too dense not to have a metro system moving everyone around.

How many years do you think it will take Lagos to finish the whole project? Im guessing 10 years based on the current pace.

The The Lagos Rail Mass Transit is different from the federal lagos-kano project. They will share a rail tracks as the article states. It would be up the federal government to connect the states together.

The Red Line will share track with the standard gauge track of the Lagos – Ibadan Rail Modernisation project of the Federal Government.

I know bro, what I'm saying is;
Ogun state ought to build Like 10 lanes expressway that connects Ogun to Lagos.

Same goes to Ibadan, (apart from Lagos/ibadan expressway).

After constructing the roads (like 10 lanes), railway should come up.
So that people can be working Lagos and be living in Ogun / Ibadan.

Agbara-Badagry to border was supposed to be 10 lanes + rail

But now what we have on agbara to Badagry road now is police acting like Thrift collectors

Collecting money from motorist
And the road was also reduced from
10 lanes to 6lanes

The contractor handling that project is just working like snail
Since none of the government agencies is there for monitoring

Trust me

The only time those polithiefians consider those in that Badagry corridor to be Lagosians is when they need their votes

cool

Ambode is the biggest fool ever....

instead of building on the impressive legacy of Fashola, and take the glory of commisioning what Sanwo-Olu is now commisioning and getting praised for, the fat fool abandoned the projects thinking he is witch hunting Fashola and he is riding on Jagaban's back.. now Jagaban and Fashola are on same page

Same way Audio Seyi Makinde had completely neglected all ongoing project inherited from Ajimobi's tenure thinking he is hurting Ajimobi
