A bad structure will always breed the corruption that ruins the entire system and truncates purpose. How do you administer a just system that provides for only 1,000 people per locality out of tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands. Will this not lead to bribery on the part of the uptakers and mercantile on the part of the promoters.

Why is it that every thing we do is founded on injustice. What is the point of a stimulus package that cannot cover head to toe like a blanket in the cold. Any set of people left out of cover are bound to drag the beneficiaries back into poverty. That is why schemes like the N-power have practically no effect on the poverty stats throughout the period of operations.

These people in leadership should think of better routes to lead Nigerians out of poverty. First of all by growing the economy. When the economy grows jobs are automatically created. This can be done in a depressed economy such as ours at the moment by government releasing its non performing assets to the investing community, yielding its exclusivity in areas of the economy where businesses can be created and investing in infrastructure by direct labour in partnership with govermental stakeholders at all levels.

So instead of sweeping streets and patching roads for a living they should be deployed to building these infrastructure in the first place. The metro lines in Lagos, the highways and hydroelectric plants we are planning to use the Abacha loot for, projects that consume massive amounts of resources and take many, many years to complete are veritable instruments of poverty reduction and should not be the playthings of foreign multinational companies.

Why is it that government cannot come together and pledge that for the next five to ten years, 60, 70, 80 percent of capital expenditure shall be domicilled locally and with cooperatives rather than companies, doing joint ventures with communities to build hospitals, schools, roads, bridges, rail lines, highways, power transmission lines, drilling boreholes and constructing water and sewage plants. What is so hard in being inspired to truly empower your people.

There are far better and easier ways to change the fortunes of the peoples of a country. China did not become a Tiger by handouts to a select few. It has become a giant by inspiring its people to do things, to make things, to be self reliant. They built all their critical infrastructure by themselves and exercised in self reliance through that kind of hardship. Today you may see a Chinese who is poor but you cannot see a Chinese who is hopeless and despondent. They know what to do to survive and thrive.

you have to put things in perspective and not expect everything to change in one day... you cant look down on everything the gov does, just because it aint as good as whats happening abroad. Rome wasnt built in one day...

let me give you an example... in France, if you dont work, the gov gives a single person a monthly dash money called RSA (aka free money of about 550€)... in France with 550€, you cant even pay your damn rent with it, and you will only survive with such money if you live in some far away place and share a room in the forest with 15 other people. my point is, this dash money that the gov offers is not to be popping champagne in the clubs, its to help you survive while you seriously consider looking for a better situation in your life (aka like an incentive). should people now spit on the floor because 550€ is not enough to live a decent life in France? hell no! now a foolish person will now compare Nigeria and France and point fingers and say:"Europeans get 200K per months in dash money, why cant Nigeria do the same?" would that person even make sense to you?

the gov is giving the youth an INCENTIVE to try to help them while they look for better ways to better their lives....as we all know that NOBODY wishes to clear gutter as a life aspiration....but they are providing jobs, and the sad reality is that you dont see it. no gov help will ever be "proper" as there will always be someone out there biitching about it not being enough.... and as much as it may not be, but 20K in these difficult times is something.... and better than nothing.
