In sane climes, citizens are endeared to soldiers and honour them as heroes cos of their sanity to civilians and brutality to foreign enemies of the state. Infact in solidarity, citizens wear military camouflage but in Nigeria, soldiers want to be feared and appear as dreaded beast to the citizens whose taxes pay their bills. They beat traffic at will, flog passer-by, punish unarmed civilians with impunity and harass health workers, even the police, road transporters and travelers. Unfortunately, we have conditioned our minds in this country to believe soldiers are tough and to be feared, comedians make jokes about them on how citizens should fear their presence, those who are motivated to join the armed forces look up to how they will intimidate and send panic to anyone who dares them, their loved ones and their families, so the ego has gotten them distracted from why they were formed. Nigerians must stop this mentality of worshipping soldiers and they must be reforms to bring their excesses to book by the authorities. If this report is true, then we are in a mess as a nation. Funny enough they worship the politicians and serve the domestic needs of top wealthy men they are attached to. Thats to tell u that we are just in a jungle
wow!! what a wonderful write-up but you forgot to mention the countless soldiers that lay down their lives for this zoo called Nigeria and the meagre stipend they receive as salary , yet this men still have the high morale to carry on.

They might not be perfect but dude greater love has no man than for him to risk his/her life for the Fatherland.
abi if you no do anything soldier go slap you.

If you've read my comments previously you will see that I said it is only the president that has command over the military, and even the oath says the same thing, and yes if a soldier rapes a civilian he is tried by a different laws from the one that civilians are tried, they have a different system of governance basically, they have code and conducts, and every military man or woman has to abide by the rules, I don't know why that makes you feel bad

The President gave an order which they are disregarding.

Nigerian soldiers still have to follow the rules of the country. That's why the soldiers that freed Wadume were asked to be turned over to police custody, that's why a Nigerian General was arrested for money laundering, there's a case of a Nigerian military official in a legal battle over property with his wife is it a court martial that will handle that?

Being a soldier doesn't grant immunity from the law, it brings added limitations and freedoms.

Military code of conducts are often designed to mirror the law of the society they protect, but it isn't the same, civil judges or lawyers cannot proceed over military matters or officers, only in exceptional cases.

And because the military c of c are often alike to the civil laws people think it is the same, no it isn't, the order by the president excludes essential workers which I believe the military is part of, for government employees to now put them in the way of danger because of a law that don't apply to them is unacceptable, and they are allowed to do almost anything to get out of the situation

Good you understand that the soldiers broke the rules so civilians could enter the city not the soldiers themselves?

The main crux of the argument is that they are helping civilians to break the laws while threatening non combatants and killing an allied security operative through recklessness which is another matter on it's own.

Also read section 170 of the armed forces act if you think Nigerian soldiers are exempt from the law.

That particular area is very volatile, Ur covid 19 team was gathering large number of civilians at that location. Boko boys can easily infiltrate & detonate bombs or hide withing the civilians to attack both soldiers and innocent civilians. The commander could not risk hundreds of civilians and his men dying, so he had to dismantle d covid check point. Am sure the soldiers didn't mean to seriously injure d taskforce but just to scare them

So some people have mind to stand in the way of soldiers in a war area?
It's totally understandable that u want the whole north not only on fire but we are very aware since before u are in ur mother's womb that u people can never, never and can even once love or like us just because we are Muslims and that's what u hated the most. There is no way u can even once no matter what like the people from north as God never lies ,it was clearly stated in our holy book that u would hate us more than anything ,that's one reason among many that build our conviction and confirming that Islam is incredibly true. A person may doubt if it never happens but it was said u must hate us and as u can see if u happen to like us that means we have to doubt the authenticity of the scripture, but we are very much amazed that the truth is unfolding infront of us,i am aware of what's in ur mind now, that u want all of us death,i mean the whole Muslims including children and innocent women,we know it since before ur ancestors came in to the world

Please what happened?

The team is doing their job, the same job FG told them to do, will killing policemen and threatening to shoot help them?

Police are there to help defend the checkpoints you're talking as if it's an open road.

The civilians wanted to dodge the checkpoints so they went to gather somewhere else, that is their own fault and not because of the committee.

They even beat up a journalist showing that they didn't want anyone to see what was going on.

When Boko Haram attacked a village for hours did the army save them?

I don't know why Nigerians are so quick to defend lawlessness.

They

- threatened to shoot elected officials
- rammed into a truck killing a policeman
- beat up a journalist and sized his camera so nobody could see what was going on.

Now they did all that to help people who were trying to dodge the checkpoints.

The civilians are stupid for dodging and gathering elsewhere and the soldiers aided their stupidity further.

Sad that some of you dont reason at all, before commenting! very shameful.
Were they just "standing in the way of Soldiers" of where they carrying out the instruction of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces?
Anyway,, this sort of nonsense happens where the C-in-C is a vegetable and the COAS is corrupt otherwise, l can see the COAS of any other country turninig a blind eye to the disobedience of the instructions of his C-in-C by some moronic Soldiers.

The Governor, if he is worth his salt, should demand and ensure that all the soldeirs involved, given Oderly Room trial, summarily dismissed, prosecuted and jailed.
And to think that these criminals in Army Uniform used their foolishness to terminate the life of another federal law enforcement (Police) officer!
Honestly, Buhari has destroyed this country beyond repair, with the useless and corrupt people he often put incharge of serious business.

Stop making silly, dumb and unintelligent EXCUSES for Gangsterism, from Soldiers who are supposed to be disciplined.
The Soldeirs, if not that they were collecting money from Civilians breaking the law (Covid-19 laws) or they just want to show the usual GraGra that they cannot show Boko haram in the last five years, should have driven those lawbreaking-civilians back to wherever they were coming from, not asist them to break the Presidential Directive against Inter-State travel.
But some dumbfcuks here are still offering puerile excuse despite the death of anothe rlaw officer and injury to pregnant women, babies, et.c

Utter lawlessness
