I was just wondering, why was Azikwe of the east interested in yorubas region when he fully knows That there is a leader in South west called Great Awo.. Azikwe was born in the north.. Why didnt he fight for premiership in the north where he was born? Azikwe is an igbo, why didn't he fight for premiership in the east?? Why would Azikiwe come to the west, a strange land ibadan, yorubas territory to fight Awo for premiership..? Was zik so stupid? Why why why?? Constantjohn: If Zik wasn't stupid why would he be angling to rule Yorubaland? It was his domination tendency. He wanted to rule Yorubaland to dominate the Yorubas. That was his aim. That's why he said that Igbos will dominate Africa. That's why he put his people in the civil service. To dominate. (Same reason Ojukwu was marching his army towards Lagos. To dominate Yorubas, forget about Biafra) Eventually he committed political Hara Kiri by using his own hands to sell out Southern Nigeria to the North by offering them Prime Ministership. The same Prime Ministership that Awolowo, a Yoruba man was offering him on a platter of gold. But the pain of losing Yorubaland was so much that he became blinded by revenge and threw away everything. The Igbos don't play politics with intellect. They play it with emotions. 13 Likes 2 Shares |

South west was juicy, balanced, had more potential and more organized, enlightened people than south east and north. This was proven by the government Awo ran shortly after. Zik may have been eyeing leading a progressive people than unfriendly north and unorganized south east. That guy was using combination of aboki and yamirin sense. 7 Likes |
