We had the best 48hrs friendship until my sincerity shattered the love story that never began... I had asked, "so where do you stay?" and her answer amazed me, she's lived in with this guy for a year now, and I thought carelessly aloud, "how can you be discounting your life to him when you're so young and so beautiful?", she thought how weird I was, she's had sex daily or well, close to daily since she could remember life, it was free for all in her home, with cousins, neighbors, shop keepers, like you gat to feed that urgy. She winked a lazy smile. Basic human needs are food, shelter, water, air and sex. I must confess I was thanking God for an easy breakthrough: I mean, see cute babe when fit add me as side Bobo, Jehovah working in mysterious ways... But instead I whispered, it's not ordinary that you're addicted to sex and living with a cultist at this age, sex is great but it comes with a duty and at a commitment, I think you have been raised among thorns and you can't see how good the other side of the road is. She looked at me puzzled and asked, "you can stay long without it?", I wasn't bold enough to say, but I said anyway, "I've not had sex, it's my choice and I'll stay so, not that I don't battle urgies but God frowns against lust and fornication, and I want to please God". She was confused, she's never met a virgin before, and she certainly didn't believe a guy could be - at my age... She thought I was cute too (the way she said it though, lasted years in my sub conscious... lol)... "We are not meant to be controlled by how we feel but our desires to love God as He has loved us, I feel God's love strongly for me, so despite how much pressures I come across in daily temptations, I just will to show Him I'll choose him over my lusts...", I must have said too much when I bent over to whisper into her ears, "...and God loves you more", I had leaned backwards expecting to catch a smile on her Caribbean-looking face but I was shocked to see them washed with tears, oh my, I was so sorry, that wasn't what I expected, I tried retracting my words, even the unspoken ones but she had packed up!
I ran straight after her. Carver building is one long floored building if you want to take the other stairway, I ran with her across the corridors and cut her off on the staircase, holding fast to the wooden rails to stop her from moving past me: "I'm sorry...", she looked even prettier in tears, (I couldn't have said that), "I don't even know why I'm crying" she said managed to say, "perhaps because I've wondered if life was meant to be like this, abort 1, 2, 3 for a guy who beats you silly and yet you can't say no to him, cos you don't know if the next guy would be better or worse, and when you think you should take a break, the night barely passes before you start begging again, you need him to hold you or a man inside of you... (starts crying again), but here you are, not even 1 sex this year... ", I thought how helpless she looked and I longed more than anything to help her, like I loved her now more than ever, "but you can stop, addictions are uncontrollable longings sponsored by demon spirits, I've seen persons break free from drugs, pornography, and lying, you can be free too if you let me pray for you...", she just shook her head... "how... I'm not even a student, I come to the library to go up school, I'm here for him", o boy, you wouldn't know how much it hurt me to hear that... "now, you have to move out, go home, and start new, no don't go home, find a place to start again clean", she nodded faintly and walked passed me to take the final set of stairs down, mnnnn... But something in me wouldn't let go, I leaned across the rails and grabbed her hands, it was like forever before I found my voice, "just say after me please, Lord Jesus, I know you love me, I may not feel like it now, but if you can give me the chance, come into my heart today, forgive my past mistakes, and let me be a child of God today, take away my addictions... Amen", she finished, slipped her hands off and ran the rest of the stairway... She seemed to take some rythyms away with her...
There were days I lingered around Carver building hoping I'd catch her face once again. I've thought some times, perhaps I should have crossed the street to her side of town, like "be like them to win them" stuffs... But I once heard in passing of a cult capon whose girlfriend came home acting all strange, she wouldn't talk to him or anyone, she wouldn't sleep in same room, she insisted on sleeping at a neighbor's and left campus the next dawn and never returned. I liked to believe she found a new heart and took a choice to trust the wind that now sails her soul.
