Do you believe in the biological clock ticking tales that warrants a woman to get to a certain age and if unmarried has to quickly do so or get pregnant?

So many ladies are under pressure to marry because of this and because of the Nigerian society that places a lot of importance on being married, it doesn't matter if you divorce the next just marry

Are you under pressure to quickly marry or birth a chikd before your biological clock stops ticking?

Or did you succumb to pressure and married? Or became a baby Mama.

Shouldn't a woman be allowed to decide if she wants and when she wants

Some of us reading this right now are even the ones putting your friends and siblings under pressure to marry and have kids before it is too late.

This is the same reason that women who are married are TTC panic and run helter skelter looking for ways to take in

In as much as I support and preach freedom to live and make choices, especially when it comes to life time decisions like marriage and child birth I can't help but express concern over the connection between these decisions and society/environment.

In Nigeria we lack basic medical amenities to support childbirth or fertility and the available ones are so expensive for average Nigerian. Adoption is not widely acceptable, And living alone and childless at a particular age is a stigma, An unmarried Woman at specific age is cursed and so many more barbaric reasoning. Therefore a Nigerian Woman who wants to live her life on her own terms and time should consider the problems she might face in the future. Or she should do what she ought to do at "biological the right time".But if she can relocate to an environment which support her view or has the resources to boost her fertility when she's ready then it's all good.

Please as much as it's our right to express and use our liberty, let's be sensible while at it. May it never be too late for us ooo. grin

Biological clock is not a social construct or something invented to cage women or subjugate them.

It is reality and childbirth/ care is best suited to youthfulness.

It is a very unwise trade off for anyone to under the guise of 'building a career' or 'flexing' leave marriage and child birth/care till they are older.

The person has the energy and resources to train them, can take the needed sacrifices/breaks and bounce back heads on into the career/employment /entrepreneurship boat if desired.

I honestly don't know where this new age idea of putting off marriage till later came from.

A lot of women who did and (are still doing exploits world allover) got married in time, had their kids and launched deep into their chosen professions:

Beyoncé. Late Dora Akunyili. Folorunsho Alakija. Ibukun Awosika. Late Ibidun Ighodalo. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. Omotola J. Ekeinde. Tara F. Durotoye. Chiamanda. Marie Curie. Kate Henshaw. Omoni Oboli. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Ditto the men.

If you decide not to marry or for some strange reason have not found someone, that is a different kettle of fish.

the biological clock of a thing is out of the society concern for the woman. the higher the age, the more difficult child bearing is and in fact settling down

Left to me, the idea is not bad

Biological clocks exists. Not a tale. (For both genders BTW but feel free to disagree).

Should it be a reason for the mockery and derision to people (especially women) who haven’t achieved certain relationship and family goals by certain ages? absolutely not. Because it exists doesn’t mean people can’t chose differently. Nor does it give anyone to right to pressure and mock them.

However that’s what a lot of people do. They spend their waking days and nights making sure that unmarried women over 30 feel like dirt on the surface of the earth.

To act like we don’t see it and then turn around to talk about those who notice this as if they are pretending it’s a made up phenomenon is just plain disingenuous.

While on this topic. This is on the front page. wink

And as usual, y’all know what to expect.

Comments like this are the reasons why people try to encourage single/childless women to not listen to any of the wickedness that is thrown at them. Instead to focus on their goals and have a good life not matter they end up achieving or not achieving in their romantic lives. They are encouraged that they can be happy and fulfilled if they don’t view marriage and child bearing as the only thing that they need to be happy.

The people who speak this encouragement are FALSELY labeled are denying the biological clock in order to portray women as victims. Smh

We would rather turn a blind eye and allow the mockery to be common practice. I mean if a woman is not married with kids, what’s the value of her life again?

You can be who you want no matter what...

Marriage should be a thing of choice...

However, those that wish to marry should do on time because conception is better achieved at younger age especially for women....fact!

While those of us that chose to enjoy our freedom should equally be allowed to live our lives in peace!

We often see how some men reiterates that they don't want to get married and try as much as possible to convince the ones who want to get married not to marry.
And then, these men will come back and mock ladies who are not yet married.
If you decide not to get married, but hypocritically mocking a woman for not getting married, Please, who do you want her to marry?

You men should always have sense of reasoning and refute this sense of double stance some of you are being enshroud in.

Men don't want to be mocked cos they are broke and unmarried, but turn around to shame women who are not married aswel. The height of double stance and hypocrisy.
