Delusional. Okocha was never even a top 10 midfielder in the world. Played in the same era as Ballack, Scholes, Zidane, and was never near them. Never.
tell me this where the players u watched, u didn't watch JJ.

Because u were never better than kanu, diouf, eto, aboutrika. Driblling is good but over doing it becomes a bone to ur coaches the reason ronaldinho career died because of his dribbling foolishness, messi dribbles but he did it when is necessary the only thing okocha am ok with okocha is his free kicks. Neymar today is going down due to his excess "show boat" is because of okocha that nigeria didnt qualifies for 2006 world cup because he was selecting games to play he did more for bolton than nigeria if i should meet him one day i will say same thing to him.

What yeye free kick ? Okocha is not even a free kick specialist and here you are saying you are okay with his free kick

You must be silly for saying Ronaldinho career died because of his dribbling ,someone that has 2 ballon d or ,Ronaldinho would have won more if not for his partying and drinking and not dribbling

keep shut and reason when i said ronaldinho career died due to excess dribbling cas from 2007 upwards we ve techinical and mobile coaches in world football and do nt flow with excessive dribbling gaurdiola is part of those coaches. Zaha for instance is a good player buh no big clubs want him due to too much show bout even cristaino ronaldo recongnize it that y he had to change his system of play before u call me silly i was born in late 1980s so we not mate i started watching football 1996 so always keep calm when i type thanks.

Let’s not deceive ourselves guys.

If he was on same level with these guys, he would play in Barcelona and Real Madrid like the players you mentioned.

After all, Barca also saw him in same club with Dinho because choosing to sign Dinho instead of him or both of them.

Look, these big teams also wanted to win trophies and don’t care if you are black or white if you are good enough to help them win trophies.

Eto’o was also black. Barca saw him from a lowly Mallorca and signed him.

JJ was very good but comparing him with Zidane, Dinho and De Lima is patriotism taken too far.

sometimes its about luck, even d people u mention knows this guy is a talent.
u think dinho, cannot win world best more Dan two times?
who is drogba compares to okocha, but he won champions league, sometimes personal ambition affects too, not always about good or not good.

u funny sir. I told u that is because of too much likeness of money that made okocha not to play for big team. Or don't u know when united want to sign him then, that he requested for number 10 jersey that he knew is not possible for him to get. He intentionally did it because he want to go on free transfer to small club and collect his sign on fee by himself.

Field of play?

Eto’o came 3rd in World Best, Yaya and Drogba were among Top 10 several times.

So all football analysts, pundits, coaches, players, journalists that rated/voted for them did not see Okocha in the field of play in Okocha years?

Oga keep quiet okocha was a nobody. He rarely had impact in a game. All he did was just entertaining fans and viewers with meaningless dribbles and skills wey no get end product. At a point even the commentators began to get tired of him. How can you even be comparing a whole Toure to okocha. Who would you prefer to have in your team between the two? He's one of those who believed okocha dribbled someone by spitting saliva to his opposite direction. Or that okocha dribbled the whole pitch, instead of him to score, he dribbled everyone back to his own goal and then dribbled back to his opponents goal again to score. We heard so many bullshìt about that guy back then..Nigerians Sabi exaggerate ehn.

Are u srs?? Pls name one trophy okocha won at club level in his entire career ??

U cant even compare them both .... Eto is on international level

Confederation of African Football
president, Issa Hayatou was of the view
that Nigerian football legend, Austin ‘Jay
Jay’ Okocha deserved to have won the
highest African football honour for all his
masterful displays during his playing days.
In 2003 and 2004 respectively when
Okocha was at his best, the African player
of the year award eluded him, much to
the surprise of most Nigerian soccer
enthusiasts conversant with African
football. Instead, Samuel Eto’o was
crowned back to back for those years,
with Didier Drogba as runner’s up, while
Okocha was third. Coincidentally, the
former Super Eagles midfield maestro was
voted back to back as the BBC African
player of the year for the same period.
This led to conspiracy theories that there
was a Francophone gang-up against
Okocha, who is from Nigeria, an
Anglophone country.

You shouldn't over beat yourself,we know it was hate and international politics that made them deny you the award.

Kanu was from Usa when he won it twice abi ? let him keep playing for bolton and expecting to win the award na .

I understand your point. If you followed my argument you will understand that my main point of contention is the 1998 award. He ought to have won that particular one because of his form at the time.Considering who the eventual winner was.He was in fenerbahce from 1996 to 1998,he had 62 appearance and 34 goals. His performance propelled his move to PSG in 1998.
Mustaphaph Hadji on the other hand, was in Sporting CP and,Deportivo respectively from 1996 to 1999.He had 58 appearances for both clubs and scored only 5 goals combined for the two clubs.
At the international level from 1996 to 1998 Nigeria as a country won gold in Atalanta 1996.where was Morocco and what was their achievement as a team, that is if they used national achievement as a yardstick.
Another fact is that in 1998 world cup both Nigeria and Morocco crashed out at the same stage. So how on earth did they give that award to Hadji who was a bench warmer for both nation and club. While Okocha was a vital force for both nation and his clubs.
That is just my points. Feel free to counter my my argument. Thanks

Excuse! Excuse!

Same people chose Kanu over French speaking footballers twice.

Same people chose Arab Salah over French speaking players.

Let’s stop deceiving ourselves. Francophone African countries have always produced bigger footballers. Which Anglophone African footballer currently comes close to Sadio Mane, Kalidou Koulibaly, Aubameyang, Mahrez, Ziyech, Benacer, even Pepe.

If they now win APOTY, you will say it is French conspiracy when we all watch same football and see the difference.

Before them we had Drogba, Eto’o, Yaya Toure, etc all from French Africa. Is it the language they speak that got them to the level they attained or their footballing ability. We all watch them on TV.
it is what I have read about several times.. Not matter of excuse. Those times KANU won it, where were the closest rivals

Because France still has a big stake in its former African colonies. Francophone players simply have an easier route to Europe (Ligue 1 and Ligue 2) vs Anglophone players.

Check all those players. Most gained relevance in Ligue 1. English football doesn't offer that access to Anglophone players.

Is this why Eto’o or Yaya or Mahrez or Mane won Africa best or what they did they did on the field when they got the opportunity?
