Everything You Need To Know About Turmeric For Hair And Skincare. by TigerFoods: 11:54am On Jul 18, 2020
One of the lovely things on our wish list is to have healthy lustrous hair and vibrant skin. It will interest you to know that Turmeric has proven to be a “wonder spice’’. While its culinary and health benefits are top-notch, they are also even more beneficial when used for hair and skin care. Turmeric treats various hair issues such as helping to get rid of dandruff, treat scalp-related problems like eczema (the condition where scalp get rough, and itchy), and nourish your hair from the root. Also, Turmeric has been utilized in many beauty products over the centuries. Its anti-inflammatory powers are used to reduce the signs of aging, gently exfoliate dead skin, clear the skin and ease eczema.

With the seemingly countless benefits of turmeric, here are some great uses of the ‘Magic Spice’ for flawless skin and luscious hair.

Turmeric for Haircare

Turmeric for treating dandruff
Dandruff is the commonest hair problem that both men and women experience; it can cause hair loss if not properly treated. Dandruff often comes with flakes (an unpleasant feeling of itching). Turmeric contains various anti-bacterial traits, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory that helps to clean the scalp, and then reduces dandruff. While at it, it also helps to increase the blood circulation under the skin, preventing the dead skin cells from forming. To treat dandruff, mix turmeric with olive oil, and apply it to your scalp. Allow it to stay for 20 to 30 minutes and rinse out well with a lightweight shampoo.

Treats hair loss
The possible reasons for hair loss vary from poor diet, mental problems, stress, or a hormonal disorder. Curcumin is a key ingredient in turmeric that helps hair loss and promotes hair growth. Nevertheless, you can stimulate hair growth and also prevent hair fall by including turmeric in your diet and hair care regimen. Take 4-5 tablespoons of turmeric powder and mix it well in a bowl of raw milk to make a semi-liquid solution. You may also add some honey to this solution to act as a conditioner, massage gently, and cover your scalp with a shower cap. Then let it sit for half an hour and wash it off with your regular shampoo. Repeat twice a week for an effective result.

Turmeric can tint the Hair.
This incredible spice has a strong tint; you can use it to dye your hair. To tint your hair naturally, mix turmeric with henna and curd every week for at least 4 months to see a noticeable change in the hair colour. This mask is completely natural and your hair won’t be damaged during this process. To get a more reddish colour, mix a few teaspoons of natural henna to this solution, apply it on your hair, and allow it to sit for about 4 to 5 hours. Go ahead to do your daily chores while waiting for it to dry and stop dripping. Wash it off with cold water and shampoo. Don’t fail to treat your hair with conditioner after washing.

Turmeric for Skin Care

Reduce Skin Pigmentation.
UV rays are our skin’s ‘worst enemy’; they cause sunburns, skin cancer, fine lines, hyper pigmentation, and wrinkles. Regardless, Turmeric may help you turn back the clock, in no time. To reduce skin pigmentation, apply a mixture of turmeric powder and lemon or cucumber juice on the affected area for 20-30 minutes and wash off with plain water. This should be done regularly for beneficial results.

Soothe Burns.
When you get injured, your body’s natural response sends white blood cells and healing enzymes to the wound to stave off infection — this is what causes inflammation. While that sounds like a good thing, it also causes the not-so-beneficial effects of heat, redness, and pain. Turmeric can provide quick relief in a mild case of burns, thanks to its antiseptic properties. You can apply a mixture of turmeric and aloe vera gel on burns and the injury will heal in no time. Also, it speeds up the skin’s ability to form new and healthy tissue. It boosts collagen production too, meaning your injury heals faster and fewer scars.

Treat Cracked Heels
Turmeric is naturally an excellent therapeutic agent. To heal cracked heels, you can apply a mixture of three spoons of Turmeric with a few drops of coconut or castor oil on your heels for 10 to 15 minutes before taking a bath. Doing this regularly will soften your heels. Wear good shoes and don’t walk barefoot even at home till they are completely treated.

We can’t deny the wonderful benefits of turmeric to achieve glossy hair and flawless skin. However, please know that if you desire to take turmeric dosage or any supplements alongside with it, consult your doctor first. We sincerely hope that you learned an innovative way to promote hair growth, treat scalp-related problems as well as look beautiful and flawless with Turmeric.
