My love for fried rice made me put this up here, so that every lover of fried rice can benefit from it and also learn how to cook delicious fried rice in their various homes, actually I don’t like to eat fried rice at parties because I don’t love the way they go about the Preparation and it doesn’t give me the desired taste I want, I ate fried rice at one party years back it has no taste at all, I was like what kind of fried rice is this, that’s why I love to prepare my fried rice at home and I get what I want. 3 Things that make up good fried rice. • The color • The vegetables • The taste. Note: you can only Enjoy your party fried rice when it’s only served amidst 20-25 people only in my own opinion because to properly cook friend rice you need to make it in batches that can feed 7-8 people. If you have to do it more than 3 times it will wear you out. As it is aptly named you fry the rice. The vegetables cooked with fried rice cannot withstand the kind of heat that is needed to cook rice in bulk for a big party. Get all your recipes. After getting all the necessary ingredients ready for the fried rice, now I think we can proceed to how we are going to cook the fried rice. You definitely have quite a lot of work to do, so let’s start by chopping all the veggies and set aside. As for the Ata Rodo (scotch bonnet/ habanero pepper) chop finely. Season and boil the chicken with salt, seasoning cubes, curry, dried Thyme, chopped onions. To create a stock from the chicken, don’t make a mistake of using lots of water at the beginning. You need 1 cup of water at a start, to allow the chicken juices and oils to leach out and cook the chicken which intensifies the flavor and creates a very rich stock. Decant this initial stock and then add 2-3 cups of water, re-season all over again as with the first sentence to get a more diluted stock. 3.while pre-boiling the rice, combine the initial stock that was decanted with the latter stock in a pot. This should give you a brown stock with a green hue. You should also see the oil floating on the top, as soon as you have washed the pre-boiled rice, pour it into the pot. Stir and add water to just about cover the rice. Stir and add salt or seasoning cubes if necessary let this cook till most of the stock is dry. The rice should still feel slippery though, so watch it closely. This step basically creates curried rice. Now to fry the veggies. There is a system to this and you have to start based on the density of the ingredients. Carrots are pretty firm and they take longer to cook, shrimp Cooks in minutes, peas cook in seconds and lose their shape when overcooked, green beans cook for longer and still retain their shape (but cook them too long and the color changes to a yucky brown) the liver/kidney have already been cooked. So, you start based on what Cooks the longest and you end with what Cooks the shortest. In a large well-coated pot that will not burn. (Aluminum or stainless steel) heat up a cooking spoon of olive oil, stir in ½ a teaspoon of curry, white pepper, and dried thyme. Kitchen Tip: Frying spices intensifies the flavour add the chopped carrots and green beans. Shake the pan instead of tossing with a spoon that will squash the ingredients. Let this fry for a minute or two then add chopped liver, chopped salad, onions, and Ata Rodo let this fry for some minutes, then add the raw shrimp, a pinch of salt, and half a seasoning Cube. Kitchen Tip: This is the reason why I love this technique of preparing fried rice. You season the vegetables, so when you bite into it, you don’t get a bland taste. You add the salt and seasoning Cube at this point because the ingredients you have fried previously will be soft enough to absorb it. Then you add the peas to finish off. Now you have curried rice and fried mixed vegetables, it is time to create a beautiful union. Using Another Pot: Take scoops of the curried rice and the fried vegetable in a ratio of 3:1 and fry till it properly combines. Decant into a big bowl or pot. Make another batch, if you are making this for a small party in your home, to save time, double or triple this ratio. Don’t go more than triple though. Make as many batches, until you have completely exhausted both the rice and the mixed egg. You will now be left with a thick sludge of oil in the pot you fried the mixed veg in. Pour over the remnant oil on the fried rice, make a final stir and turn the heat down to very low. Cover the pot and let this will steam for 3-5 minute and you are done. https://www.mcebiscoo.com/see-how-to-prepare-delicious-fried-rice-at-home/

A lot of us can spend a substantial amount of time trying to look for the love that we think we’re deserving of in this life. And sometimes, if we’re lucky, we don’t have to wait so long to find that love. Whenever you do find that love, you always want to make sure that you don’t take it for granted. You always want to make sure that you fight for that love to make sure that it doesn’t go to waste. However, a lot of us make the mistake of failing to make the distinction whenever we are in the relationships that we are deserving of. If you happen to be one of those people who have trouble distinguishing the love that you are truly deserving of, then this article is for you. Don’t worry. Sometimes, people are just going to need a good old reminder. And that’s what this article aims to do. Here are a few signs that the guy that you’re with is the man that you deserve to spend the rest of your days with. 1. He doesn’t need a special occasion to remind you of how much he loves you. He’s always going to make sure that you know that he loves you regardless of what day it is. He always puts in the effort necessary to make sure that you understand just how important he is to you. 2. He leaves you a lot of little love notes every so often. This might seem like something so simple and easy. But the effort that he puts into it is really what matters. It just goes to show that he’s a guy who values the little things. He’s a man who pays attention to the details. 3. Whenever the two of you are away from one another, he goes out of his way to make sure that you know how much he misses you. He calls you even for the simple reason of wanting to hear your voice. He isn’t afraid of showing that kind of vulnerability towards you. 4. You get the sense that the moments that you’re experiencing together are made for romantic comedies. And during these moments, you always make sure that you don’t take them for granted. And you always make sure that you count your blessings because of how special and precious they are. 5. He doesn’t really shy away from opening up about his feelings to you. He doesn’t care if people tell him that being manly means being closed off about his feelings and emotions. He always wants to stay transparent to you. He wants you to know that he never hides anything from you at all. 6. He is always respectful of you and all of the women around you. He is the kind of guy who is far from being misogynistic. He knows that he has a duty to always act gentlemanly around all women. He knows that he always has to be respectful of you and every woman he meets in this life. 7. He doesn’t really bash his ex-girlfriends. He only ever talks about them whenever you try to ask him about his romantic history. And whenever he does talk about them, he is always respectful. He never makes it seem like he’s holding any ill feelings or bitterness towards them. 8. He is always respectful of the professional goals that you might have for yourself. He acknowledges that you are a person of substance and that you’re not content with just living a life of mere mediocrity. He is always going to honor the fact that you have a set path for yourself that you want to follow. 9. He always values your opinions and he always makes sure that you feel heard and appreciated. He seeks your advice on various issues. He always asks for your input. He never makes you feel like he’s just going to be content with making you stay on the sidelines. He always makes you feel included. 10. Whenever he disagrees with you, he’s always going to do so in a peaceful and graceful manner. He’s always going to make sure that he takes a sensitive approach to manage conflicts with you. 11. He is so insanely attracted to you. He always makes you feel that he doesn’t take you for granted; that he is always so enamored by you. And he’s always going to make sure that you are validated. 12. He is always proud to be with you. He is the kind of guy who would always want to be showing you off to the world. He never wants to make you feel like he is ashamed of you. He would never do anything to make you feel like he isn’t proud to be the man who calls you his. https://www.mcebiscoo.com/must-read-12-signs-youve-found-the-man-you-really-deserve/

In clear violation of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control directive on social distancing as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak in the country, guests at the wedding ceremony of Abdul Aziz Malami, son of Nigeria’s Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), have been seen in a video of the lavish ceremony dancing and communicating close to one another without wearing face masks while spraying wads of United States dollars and naira notes on the newly married couple. Part of the NCDC guidelines forbids social events like weddings where there are more than 20 persons in attendance. The video of the ceremony published by SaharaReporters on Friday clearly showed more than the stipulated number of persons at that ceremony. Also, the open spraying of wads of cash at the event violates the Central Bank of Nigeria’s rule, which forbids anyone from abusing the naira by spraying and stepping on them in public. Despite breaking the law in these regards even though he is Nigeria’s chief law officer, findings by SaharaReporters revealed that Malami had already made arrangements for a sizeable number of private jets to fly dignitaries from Abuja, Kano and Lagos to Kebbi State on Saturday for the second leg of the wedding where more display of opulence and gross disregard for the NCDC guidelines are expected to be showcased. It was also reliably gathered that Malami had already bought a N300m mansion in Abuja as a gift to the young couple to help them start their marital journey on a glorious footing. Abdul Aziz, who graduated from a university in Cyprus in 2018, is known among his circle to lead a flamboyant lifestyle purportedly fuelled by public funds at the disposal of his father, who remains one of the most powerful and influential figures in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. Despite maintaining a public posture of sainthood, Malami, events of recent times had shown, is not very far away from scandals. Recently, the AGF took over the case involving Bala Hamisu Wadume, a notorious kidnapper, after soldiers killed three policemen taking the suspect to the police headquarters in Jalingo, Taraba State, after his arrest. Malami later announced that the soldiers would be tried by a military court martial and not the convention court, sparking public outrage. In a letter on June 15 to the Attorney-General, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of the 10 army personnel involved in the killing of the three policemen and two civilians in that incident in August 2019. Falana said that without the arrest and prosecution of the soldiers responsible for the deaths of the policemen and civilians, justice cannot be served on the matter. Continuing in his tradition of frustrating high profile cases especially ones that have to do with corruption and rights abuses, Malami also recently ordered security agencies to cover up an ongoing multi-billion naira fraud in Nigeria Incentive-based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending. Also, he was behind the reinstatement of a former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, into the civil service after his dismissal in 2013 for a N2bn theft of pension funds. Maina is currently being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after being arrested upon sneaking back into Nigeria. Another case taken over by Malami and which never saw the light of day was the N25bn fraud trial of Danjuma Goje, former governor of Gombe State. The case was stalled when in an emergency hearing before Justice Babatunde Quadiri, EFCC counsel, Mr Wahab Shittu, told the court that the agency was withdrawing from the case and handing it over to the office of the Attorney-General for continuation. The AGF however, stated that having thoroughly reviewed the matter, found no prima facie case while adding that it was weak. Malami withdrew the charges against Goje from the court in exercise of his constitutional power, allowing him to now walk as a free man. Indeed, the list of cases taken over by Malami and frustrated in recent times is long and worrisome. https://www.mcebiscoo.com/nigerias-attorney-general-malami-buys-multi-million-naira-mansion-for-newly-married-son-guests-flout-social-distancing-guidelines-during-lavish-wedding-ceremony/

In between the whole confusion and mistaken ideas going around in the world of fashion, the ideology that the Ankara fabric can only be worn in a classic way is one of the things we would considering in this post. The Senate has passed the Sexual Harassment Bill which is to stop sexual abuse of female undergraduates in tertiary institutions in the country. The bill titled: ‘A Bill for an Act to prevent, prohibit and redress Sexual Harassment of students in tertiary educational institutions and for matters concerned therewith, 2019’, was sponsored by the Deputy Senate President. Ovie Omo-Agege, and 106 other senators. The bill among many things is geared towards promoting and protecting ethical standards in tertiary institutions. It will also protect students against sexual harassment as well as prevent sexual harassment of students by educators in tertiary institutions. The bill which has 27 clauses, proposed up to 14 years jail term, with a minimum of 5 years, without an option of fine for any educator who commits sexual offenses in tertiary institutions. The bill defines sexual offenses as including sexual intercourse with a student or demands for sex from a student or a prospective student or intimidating or creating a hostile or offensive environment for the student by soliciting for sex or making sexual advances. Other forms of sexual harassment identified in the bill are grabbing, hugging, kissing, rubbing, stroking, touching, pinching the breasts or hair or lips or hips or buttocks or any other sensual part of the body of a student; or sending by hand or courier or electronic or any other means naked or sexually explicit pictures or videos or sex-related objects to a student, and whistling or winking at a student or screaming, exclaiming, joking or making sexually complimentary or uncomplimentary remarks about a student’s physique or stalking a student. When the bill was read on the floor of the Senate and passed its second reading in November 2019, Omo-Agege addressed fears that some female students might see this as an opportunity to make false claims about a lecturer or educator. “On suggestions of inadequate sanctions for students who falsely accuse educators of sexual harassment, the reality is that this bill prescribes expulsion for those students. In addition, an educator whose character is maligned is at liberty to sue for defamation under the law of defamation which is well-settled in our jurisprudence and needs no duplication in this bill. There is also the suggestion that some students, especially females, harass educators by their mode of dressing and that this bill may not be doing enough to protect educators. I understand this concern. However, the educator can activate institutional disciplinary actions against such students,” he explained. The bill was read for the first time on October 9, 2019. Recall that a documentary, Sex for Grades, released by the BBC last year, exposed two lecturers of the University of Lagos, and a lecturer of the University of Ghana for sexual harassment. The documentary sparked reactions from many Nigerians who described the issue as a norm in many Nigerian universities. https://www.mcebiscoo.com/nigerian-senate-passes-sexual-harassment-bill-see-what-it-means-for-nigerian-lecturers/

I am sure that at some point in our lives, many of us must have come across persons who have a sixth finger. Most times, the sixth finger is very small while in some occasions, it tends to be as big as a normal finger. If you know anyone how has this or if you personal have a sixth finger, there is nothing to be worried about. People often feel there is a spiritual meaning to it and often discriminate against those who have it but that behaviour is entirely wrong. When a person has a sixth finger, it means the person has a medical condition called Polydactyly. This condition makes a person have extra fingers or toes. The term was derived from two greet words “ poly ” (which means Many) and “ dactylos ” (which means Digits). The most common type of this syndrome is the one where a little extra finger grows next to the fifth finger or toe. This syndrome is as a result of mutations in the body as well as environmental causes and it tends to run in the family . This means that if you have it, one of your offsprings may likely develop it too. Here are some facts about Polydactyly: – It commonly affects the right hand and the left foot. – It commonly affects hands more than it affects feet. – It is more common among men. – People who feel uncomfortable about having a sixth finger often get rid of it through surgery. https://www.mcebiscoo.com/if-you-see-someone-with-a-sixth-finger-this-is-what-it-means/

Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has described as irresponsible and cheap politics the statement credited to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and signed on its behalf by one Yekini Nabena in which it tried to link him with a cyber-crime suspect. Ramon Abbas who was recently arrested in the United Arab Emirates and extradited to the United States. Saraki in a statement issued in Abuja today stated that he has no form of association with the said suspect, Ramon Abbas otherwise known as Hushpuppi and neither does he know him in any way. “The statement credited to the APC, the ruling party in our country, is one of the ways by which our anti-graft agencies are weakened and why the fight against corruption in the country is often viewed with suspicion by the international community.” “This is because when these cyber-crime suspects were operating freely and openly displaying wealth, the APC saw nothing bad in their activities. Also, the party at that time did not deem it necessary to call on the anti-graft agencies to investigate their activities.” “Also, since the arrest of those cybercrime suspects and the subsequent damage to the image and the economy of Nigeria as well as the crisis it created for Nigerians engaged in lawful businesses across the world, the ruling party had been muted.” The only time the APC deemed it necessary to make a statement was when it thought it should play dirty, cheap and irresponsible politics. “Dr. Saraki was the only political leader who has publicly made a statement through an Op-Ed article published in the Daily Trust newspaper of July 1, 2020 titled “Cyber Criminals: Confronting The Few Who Dent Many” and this opinion article had been widely circulated online and on other platforms. In that article, he strongly condemned the activities of these cybercriminals and called on the law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to make decisive interventions to checkmate their activities.” “He has also got a research institution, the Politeia Institute, whose board he chairs to commence research on the best ways to tackle the menace. Such a noble intervention in tackling a menace is what Dr. Saraki believes in, not mudslinging and playing politics at the expense of the nation’s image.” “At this point, we call on the APC leadership to rein in the so-called Yekini Nabena and compel him to desist from making and circulating such malicious, odious and offensive claims”, the statement concluded. https://www.mcebiscoo.com/update-saraki-finally-speaks-on-association-with-hushpuppi-replies-apc/

The United Nations (UN) says it has launched an investigation into a viral video showing a couple apparently having sex in one of its official cars in Israel. According to Spokesman of the Secretary-General, Mr Stephane Dujarric, while speaking to UN correspondents in New York on Friday, the organisation was “shocked and deeply disturbed” by the footage. Dujarric confirmed that the video featured a 4×4 vehicle, containing personnel “likely assigned to the UN Truce Supervision Organisation (UNTSO)”. The short video shows a woman in a red dress straddling a man in the back seat of the white SUV bearing the “UN” inscription. With them in the moving vehicle are the driver and a bald-head man sitting on the passenger side in front. Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has again come up with some claims about President Muhammadu Buhari. Nnamdi Kanu, in a statement he personally signed, said that President Buhari, who he described as Jubril-Buhari, has been encircled and trapped by members of IPOB in his (Buhari) hideout in a Yokohama hotel, adding that there is no escape for the Nigerian leader. The pro-Biafra leader, who claimed that the real Buhari was buried in Saudi Arabia, vowed that his group knows where the President’s presidential jet is and will never allow him to leave Japan. The IPOB leader claimed that even if they try to smuggle ‘Jubril-Buhari’ out by hiding him in a diplomatic bag, that they (IPOB) shall get hold of him. Kanu added, “How come all of their so-called Elites, Intellectuals, Professors, Academics, Opinion Leaders, Politicians, Royal Fathers, Pundits, Pastors, Native Doctors, are silent as their government keeps on dishing out lies upon lies, deceit upon deceit, fake picture after fake picture, fake video after fake video, but are busy worrying about IPOB confronting their dirty murderous politicians abroad? “Whether shame will allow them to admit to it or not, the fact remains that Buhari is dead, buried in Saudi Arabia and replaced by Jubril Al-Sudani an impostor. That is why they have this elaborate dance of shame going on in Japan with fake pictures. “We have now made sure that every government of the world is aware of this national disgrace and most heinous and despicable act being perpetrated by Fulani cabal. No amount of badly photoshopped pictures, fake videos lies and doctored images will save Jubri-Buhari. https://www.mcebiscoo.com/biafra-why-nigerian-president-will-not-return-from-japan/

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, said it will resume the distribution of 11,228,582 uncollected permanent voter cards (PVCs) this month. Festus Okoye, the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education, made this known during an interview with newsmen. He also noted that all the uncollected PVCs were still locked up at the Central Bank of Nigeria as promised by the Commission until after the elections. “All the uncollected PVCs are still locked up because we promised to resume after the elections and, so far, we have concluded some of the elections. The last bit of elections will be done in Rivers State this weekend. “Immediately after we are sure we have concluded some of these elections, the collection of PVCs will resume. So, we will soon resume distribution of PVCs, but they are still with the central bank. “The continuous voter registration and collection of PVCs are done at the local government level. So, what the commission will do is just to give an indication on when collection can resume, but we have not given that indication yet. We are still busy with elections. But I am sure that within this month, definitely, the commission will set a date when collection of PVCs will resume.” Speaking on PVCs destroyed at the INEC office in Qua’an Pan LGA, Plateau State few days before the elections began, the INEC commissioner said the cards had been reproduced for all the voters who submitted their names for new PVCs. https://punchng.com/distribution-of-uncollected-pvcsll-resume-soon-says-inec/amp/

The Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, has stated that the recent protests which was carried out by youths in Abuja, Kaduna and London is connected to the plan of the overzealous politicians in the state to hijack power without the appropriate step. The Governor in a statement released and signed though his press secretary, Magaji Dosara, claimed that the people of the state did not participate in the protests. He claimed that the power-drunk politicians in the state hired people from outside the state to satisfy their selfish ambition. Governor Yari stressed that those who were paid for the protests have no idea about the insecurity in the state. He further stated that the people that protested did not understand the resources that the state and the federal government have committed to resolving the security challenges in Zamfara State. “I am not in any way saying that the Protestants have done anything wrong by making their grievances known to the public because it is their constitutional rights,”. The Governor stated that no responsible government will watch while terror attacks takes over its state without finding a lasting solution. He claimed that those who protested in London has tarnish the image of Nigeria before the whole world. Governor Yari called on the power-drunk politicians to “wait for their appointed time rather than moving faster than their shadows”, saying that their scheming “was never how Allah designed this universe to function”. http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/04/08/governor-yari-speaks-on-the-protests-against-him-slams-sponsors/

The Appeal Court in Akure has ruled in favour of Ademola Adeleke who contested in the last Osun governorship election, saying he is qualified to be the state’s governor. This is coming after a High Court in Bwari, Abuja, declared Ademola as being ineligible to contest the election due to his secondary school certificate which was declared invalid thus making it impossible for him to satisfy the minimum requirement for eligibility to contest the election. The ruling was appealed by Adeleke and his legal team which they have now won after the appellate court allowed the appeal on the grounds that the complainant, Awosiyan Kingsley, did not have the locus standi. A case of lack of jurisdiction to entertain the matter was also established. A counsel to Adeleke, Nathaniel Oke, while reacting to the new ruling said the latest judgment cancels the judgment of an Abuja High Court. http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/04/07/ademola-adeleke-is-qualified-to-be-osun-states-governor-appeal-court/

As the race for the leadership of the National Assembly intensifies, the party hierarchy of the All Progressives Congress, it appears hell-bent on repeating the mistake of the 7th and 8th Assembly. Despite claims by the party chairman that the APC has learnt its lesson and will not repeat the mistake of last Assembly, there are indications that the party’s hierarchy, by its words, actions and body language, is on a highway to that very sad end. Following its overwhelming majority in both Houses of the National Assembly, the great expectation of many political pundits and party loyalists was that the party will work out an equitable zoning arrangement based on clear, identifiable and equitable criteria that will be understood by all players and will cater for all the geopolitical zones. So far, the party has done the right thing in zoning the Senate leadership to the North-East (the zone that produced the highest number of votes for the party in the 2019 general elections. As for the House of Representatives, even though the party has not formally announced a position, there are indications that the certain sections of the party hierarchy plans on zoning the Speakership position to the South-West. If this is true, the salient question will then be: what criteria is the party using to zone these leadership positions? One would expect that since the Senate Presidency was zoned to the North-East being the zone that contributed the highest number of votes after the north-west (3,238,783), the Speakership position will naturally go to the next in line—the North Central zone who produced the second largest vote after the North-East (2,465,599). So why is the party suddenly shifting the goalpost when it came to zoning the Speakership position by considering a zone (the Southwest) that performed lesser than the North-Central and even so already has the No. 2 position of a Vice President? Is this an equitable thing to do? Why would the party arbitrarily change the rules of the game based on the special interest of certain persons? How does the party hope to engender party loyalty and supremacy when it cannot commit itself to a fair and equitable zoning arrangement? If the party goes ahead to zone the position of the Speaker to the Southwest because it wants to foist a particular candidate on lawmakers disregarding popular support and equitable zoning formula, it will be walking, eyes-wide-shut into a cul-de-sac, thereby repeating the mistake of history. It behoves of all APC loyalists, stakeholders and lawmakers to prevail upon the Party hierarchy to do the right thing as any wrong move in getting things right now will not only spell doom for the Party in the coming four years but adversely affect the party’s chances in 2023 which ought to be the end-game of this whole calculation. It is obvious that the political stakeholders in the Southwest need to reconsider their strategy consultants. This is because, considering its ambition of producing the President in 2023, a wise strategic move would have been for the Southwest to ingratiate itself with other zones (especially in the North) by conceding smaller positions to them for now, thereby creating a ‘favour bank account’ that can be drawn upon in the future, if we reason that the bulk of the votes that will guarantee its victory in 2023 will come from the North. Secondly, it would be another wise strategic move for the Southwest stakeholders to avoid creating bitterness in the emotionally volatile North-Central if they expect to enlist their support and votes in 2023. How do you unjustly grab what equitably ought to belong to someone else and expect the person’s support in a few years? So basically, the South-West ought to fix its gaze on the War of 2023 not on the smaller battles of NASS leadership. What will it profit the Southwest if it wins the NASS battle and lose the 2023 War? The way and manner the Party is going about zoning leadership positions to individuals instead of zones coupled with its nebulous method of assigning these positions without any identifiable criteria, has created confusion in the Speakership race as various contestants (about 9 of them) are now jostling for the position without consideration for zoning. I asked one of the contestants who is from the Northwest why he decided to contest knowing full well the President was also from the Northwest. His response was that if the party was willing to consider a Southwest member for Speakership despite the zone having a Vice President, then nothing stops him from the Northwest contesting for the same position even with a President from the Northwest. This is how you create of free-for all brawl and madness in a game when you do not have an agreeable set of rules. An interesting phrase in the provisions of Section 14 (3) is ‘thereby ensuring that there shall be no predominance of persons from a few states or from a few ethnic or other sectional group in that Government…’ Will the APC as a Party not be contradicting this very constitutional provision if it zones the Speakership position to the Southwest?—a zone that already has the Vice President (Lagos State), and APC National Leader (Lagos State) when there are other geo-political zones who have not be given any stake? It will be a case of double injustice if one factors in the fact that such neglected zone (North Central) performed even better than the Southwest in the 2019 general elections. The North-central as a geo-political zone has for years been the sought-after bride before and during elections considering the fact that it’s a complex and dynamic zone constituted by a potpourri of diverse tribes and ethnic nationalities whose votes can swing electoral outcomes for mainstream political parties. However, this zone has suffered the misfortune of being treated unfairly after elections. It has however remained pacified in the previous three dispensations when the position of the Senate President resided with it. Now that the Senate President has been taken from it and given to the North East, it is only fair to compensate the zone with nothing short of the position of Speaker to appreciate its contribution to the Party’s success at the general elections. If the Party treats this bride shabbily now after the elections, it must remember that very a few years, it will return to it to seek its votes. In 2015, when APC miscalculated and lost its attempt to elect its preferred candidates in both the Senate and the House of Representatives, it was repeating the history of the 7th Assembly when Rt. Hon. Tambuwal (then with popular support) capitalized on the mistake of his Party to clinch the Speakership of the house. That was a tragedy. If APC repeats that history a second time, it will become a farce. No one will take it seriously after that. It has to get this one right. There is no room for error. – Ononuga, a legal practitioner, legislative analyst and political strategist, writes from Abuja. http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/04/06/apc-set-to-repeat-the-mistake-of-history/

Israel just became the seventh nation to orbit the moon. After slowly spiraling away from Earth for the past six weeks, an Israeli spacecraft known as Beresheet slipped into orbit around the moon on Thursday. This was a historic achievement for the little robot, but it paves the way for something truly epic: a lunar touchdown attempt a week from now. If Beresheet succeeds on April 11, it will become the first Israeli craft, and the first privately funded vehicle, ever to land on the surface of the moon. “The lunar capture is an historic event in and of itself — but it also joins Israel in a seven-nation club that has entered the moon’s orbit,” Morris Kahn said in a statement. “A week from today, we’ll make more history by landing on the moon, joining three superpowers who have done so. Today I am proud to be an Israeli.” Kahn chairs SpaceIL, the nonprofit organization that runs Beresheet’s mission along with Israel Aerospace Industries, the nation’s largest aerospace and defense contractor. The superpowers he referred to are the deep-pocketed governments of the Soviet Union, the United States and China. So Beresheet also aims to strike a blow for low-cost space exploration; the mission’s total price tag, including launch, is about $100 million, project team members have said. Beresheet’s mission got its start in 2011, when SpaceIL formed to compete in the Google Lunar X Prize (GLXP). The GLXP challenged privately funded teams to land a robot on the moon, move it at least 1,650 feet (500 meters) on the surface and have it beam high-resolution imagery home to Earth. The first group to accomplish these tasks would get $20 million, and the second-place team would snare $5 million. An additional $5 million was available for various special accomplishments, bringing the total purse to $30 million. The GLXP aimed to help spur private space exploration. The contest ended last year without a winner, but it still succeeded in its primary objective, as SpaceIL’s progress to date shows. And several other former GLXP teams, including the American company Moon Express, have continued to develop their spacecraft as well. Beresheet launched to Earth orbit atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on the night of Feb. 21. The spacecraft performed a series of engine burns over the following six weeks, pushing the farthest reaches of its elliptical orbit closer and closer to the moon. And Thursday, the moon reached out and grabbed Beresheet. The milestone came after a six-minute engine burn, which began at 10:18 a.m. ET. This braking maneuver reduced Beresheet’s velocity relative to the moon, allowing lunar gravity to capture the craft, project team members said. “After six weeks in space, we have succeeded in overcoming another critical stage by entering the moon’s gravity,” SpaceIL CEO Ido Anteby said in the statement. “We still have a long way until the lunar landing, but I‘m convinced our team will complete the mission to land the first Israeli spacecraft on the moon, making us all proud.” The lander will spend the next week lowering and circularizing its orbit and prepping for touchdown, which will occur on the lunar near side’s Mare Serenitatis (“Sea of Serenity”). The mission will end shortly after this historic moment; Beresheet is expected to operate for just two or three Earth days on the moon’s surface. The lander will gather some data during its time around and on the moon; it will measure local lunar magnetic fields, for example. And Beresheet carries a technology demonstration for NASA — a small laser retroreflector array, which could help future spacecraft perform precision landings on the moon and other celestial bodies. But Beresheet’s main goals aren’t scientific. The mission aims to advance Israel’s space program and to inspire children around the world — but especially in Israel — to care more about science, technology, engineering and math. This outreach work has already begun. SpaceIL personnel have met with more than 1 million Israeli schoolchildren since the nonprofit was created in 2011, mission team members said. And Beresheet’s handlers have released photos from Earth orbit showing the lander’s Israeli flag in the foreground and its home planet in the background. Beresheet is also helping preserve human culture. The lander carries a time capsule that contains, among things, a “lunar library” put together by the nonprofit Arch Mission Foundation. The library is part of Arch’s Billion Year Archive initiative, which stores backups of our species’ accumulated knowledge at various locations on and off Earth. “By delivering many copies to many places, and updating them with new installments on an ongoing basis, we intend to gradually pepper the solar system with the records of our civilization,” Arch Mission Foundation representatives wrote in a project description. “The more Arch Libraries we deliver into the Billion Year Archive, and [the] more places we store them, the more likely it is that at least some of them will survive for billions of years into the future, when they may eventually be found by those who come after us,” they added. http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/04/05/israel-becomes-seventh-nation-to-orbit-the-moon/
