Politics / Ekiti Election: PDP Reels Out Details Of How FG Allegedly Moved N18bn Cash Throu by 5Ebiscoo: 3:35pm On Jul 12, 2018
The campaign organisation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kolapo Olusola Campaign Organisation (KOCO), on Thursday alleged that the Federal Government has moved N18 billion cash with bullion vans into Ekiti State through Akure airport with the purpose of allegedly inducing the electorate with the money during Saturday’s poll.

Director, Media and Publicity of KOCO, Lere Olayinka, who spoke to newsmen on behalf of the party, said: “We called you here to intimate the public through your various media organisations of the movement of huge cash by the federal government to Ekiti State for the Saturday election.

“Last week Saturday, two bullion vehicles were moved to the Akure Airport to evacuate cash brought from Abuja by a chartered flight.

“The flight landed when it was raining and all staff of the airport were barred from going near the aircraft while the cash was evacuated into the two bullion vehicles.

“After offloading the huge cash, the bullion van first moved to the Ondo State Government House in Akure from where they left for Isan Ekiti, the hometown of the APC governorship candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi.

“We present to you and the entire world, video and photographs of the chartered aircraft as the cash was being offloaded from it into the two bullion vehicles.

“From our preliminary findings, N2.5 billion cash was transferred by the Kebbi State Government to an account in UBA, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja. It was withdrawn immediately and moved with a private jet to Akure.

“Also, apart from the N2.5 billion, another $50 million (about N18bn) was taken from the $321 million recovered from the late Abacha family.

“Our question is, how can a government that claimed to be fighting corruption be releasing billions of Naira from the public coffers for the governorship election of a single State? Where is their fight against corruption?

“We, therefore, call on Nigerians to note this wanton looting of public funds by the APC government to fund the election of its members.

“We must tell Fayemi and his APC that the conscience of the people of Ekiti cannot be purchased and we call on the people of Ekiti to resist the planned use of stolen funds to buy their votes on Saturday.

“Lastly, let me use this opportunity also to alert the public of the intimidation and harassment of PDP members by men of the DSS and policemen.

“Already, Akin Fakorede, an officer of the Federal SARS has been posted to Ekiti State, ostensibly to play the same ignoble role that he played during the Rivers State election.

“Let me say it clearly that no amount of intimidation will scare our people away from the polling units where they will vote for the PDP on Saturday.

“We have the people behind us and they are more than ready to give our candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka their votes on Saturday, ” he said.

Politics / Mbappe’s Mother Confirms Player’s Fight With Neymar At PSG by 5Ebiscoo: 11:19am On Jul 11, 2018
Kylian Mbappe’s mother, Fayza Lamari, has revealed how her son was involved in a dressing room row with Neymar Jr. at Paris Saint-Germain.

According to El Pais, Fayza is concerned about her son’s treatment at the Ligue 1 club and in particular the way team-mates Dani Alves and Neymar continue to mock the teenager’s appearance.

Mbappe is often simply referred to as ‘Donatello’, a character from the television show Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And back in November, he was given a Donatello mask in the PSG dressing room.

After scoring twice in the 4-3 win over Argentina, the French forward did not receive praise from Alves. Instead, the defender wrote on Instagram: “Donatello is so fast, right?”

Mbappe and Neymar reportedly clashed after a match against Toulouse in February.

The 19-year-old took issue with Neymar deliberately not passing to him and the pair had a heating exchange in the dressing room.

Politics / Herdsmen Killings: Afenifere Attacks Oba Akanbi For Backing Ranching by 5Ebiscoo: 7:49am On Jul 10, 2018
The apex Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has attacked the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi over the monarch’s stance on ranching.

Oba Akanbi had earlier faulted the Afenifere the Yoruba Council of Elders, YCE, on their stance against the creation of cattle ranches for Fulani herders in the South West.

The Oba had backed the proposed establishment of cattle ranches across the country by the President Muhammadu Buhari government.

Afenifere lampooned Oba Akanbi for backing such proposal.

A statement by Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Yinka Odumakin said, “It is unfortunate that he (Oluwo) wants to coordinate Miyetti Allah for South West.

“You know sometimes ago, he said he wanted to be addressed as an Emir and no longer the Oluwo of Iwo land, which is why he is talking like that.

“I don’t think any Oba that is for the Yoruba people, will accept ranches the way they are proposing it gives it an imperialistic agenda, to take over peoples’ land and give them to herdsmen.

“We are not against ranching but what we are against is public-funded ranches or that the Federal Government set up federal territories on our land and then give it to herdsmen.

“Anyone who needs land, should go to the governor’s office, go through the process of acquiring land, build ranches and then operate it.

“For the Federal Government to take over people’s land, create territories on our land, that is what we said we are against.

“I think before an Oba speaks, he should understand what people are saying and not react the same way Miyetti Allah reacts to us.”

Politics / 2019: Sheikh Gumi Lists Reasons Buhari Must Be Removed by 5Ebiscoo: 11:01am On Jul 08, 2018
Fiery Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmed Gumi, has said that President Muhammadu had performed worse than the immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan in every area.

He said Buhari was just a common man and wondered why people seem to be afraid just because the President had a team of illiterate fanatical followers.

Gumi said Buhari was a victim of ignorant, unemployed and senseless followership that stiffle other politicians.

Definitely, the situation now is worse. The economy is worse. Feeding is a problem; medical care is a problem. There are problems everywhere. Nigeria is down. Nobody is secure. The honest people in government have pulled out.

Look at what a governor said recently; that he was resigning his position as the Chief Security Officer because he is helpless. Another governor said we have to face the fact that there is a problem in Nigeria. We can’t deny that.

“Buhari is just a common man. He is just an ordinary one man in Nigeria. We cannot be hypocrites, hiding facts because of a man.

“Why are people shivering because of him because he has a team of illiterate, fanatical followers? We can deal with them. They should not hold us to ransom. He is a victim of this ignorant, unemployed and senseless followership.

“When politicians see that, they become frightened. We won’t succumb to that. Let’s do what is right. Put the right Nigerians to lead us, if not, we will destroy ourselves. We cannot be victims to these rascals.

“When you try to correct the president, they come out in their millions trying to abuse you. They don’t even counteract your points with knowledge. If you think abusing us will deter us, you are making a mistake.

“There is problem with and in the government. We have absolute failure in government. People are dying, things are not good. We cannot continue this way.

Asked why he had not visited the Villa to advice the President, the cleric added, “I cannot get to the other room with him because I am not his wife but even somebody who has access to the other room cannot get ideas into his head.

“How do you blame somebody who does not have access to the other room? You cannot change Buhari. He is already cast in a mentality. He believes that most Nigerians, if not all, are rascals, thieves and 419.

“He believes only his own circle are the good people. You cannot get across anything. He has castigated Nigerians in many fora and everybody knows that. He is somebody who always blames others; he does not take responsibility for anything.”

Also among them are Ayuba Imam as Treasurer, Pastor Ephraim Haruna as state Financial Secretary and Mock Kure as the state publicity secretary.

Gora and the executive members pledged their loyalty to the Buba Galadima-led national executive committee of the party.

According to him, the ruling party in the state had nothing close to semblance of democracy under the leadership of the Mallam Nasir el-Rufai.

Gora added, “You are all aware of the reasonsinforming the emergence of the Reformed – All Progressives Congress from the All Progressives Congress . You are equally aware of how different political platforms collapsed to form the APC prior to the 2015 general elections.

“Sadly, the yearnings and aspirations of our people have not come to fruition both at the national level and in our dear Kaduna State in particular.

“We were made to believe that we were dealing with democrats, and so we entrusted them with our votes, little did we know that we were casting our votes to unleash the worse form of dictatorship on the hapless people of Kaduna State. Politics / Timi Frank Reacts To Saraki’s Victory In Supreme Court by 5Ebiscoo: 5:03pm On Jul 06, 2018
The immediate past deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Timi Frank, has reacted to the victory of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki at the Supreme Court.

The Bayelsa-born politician lauded the performance of the judiciary, especially the Supreme Court judges.

The Supreme Court in a ruling on Friday morning, discharged Senate President Saraki, freeing him of corruption charges brought against him at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, by the APC-led Federal Government.

The apex court, in its ruling delivered by Justice Centus Nweze, held that the decision of the Court of Appeal holding that a prima facie case was made against Saraki is “the juridical equivalent of a forensic somersault and the court cannot lend its support to a caricature of justice.

“Judgement of the Court of Appeal is hereby vacated and in its place an order that Saraki is hereby discharged and his appeal allowed,” the apex court ruled.

Reacting to the judgment, Frank, in a statement he signed and made available to DAILY POST on Friday, noted that the saying that: “a lie may go on for twenty years but truth will appear one day” has come to play, adding that God of justice has put “enemies of justice to shame”.

According to Frank, it has now been proven beyond reasonable doubt that the manufactured CCT case was a complete witch-hunt against the person of Saraki.

While thanking the judiciary for not allow itself to be used against Saraki, the APC chieftain said the verdict will make the Senate President to concentrate on the job he was elected to do.

“All the antics of the presidency and some APC leaders have finally come to an end. They did everything possible to bring down Saraki as Senate President but God did not allow them. We thank the God of Justice and we hope that henceforth, people will learn not to fight the God’s anointed man,” he said.

While congratulating Saraki for his victory at the apex court, Frank thanked all Nigerians, political leaders across board and majority of Senators for their prayers and support for he Senate President while the case lasted.

Politics / What Would End APC Crisis – Dogara Tells Oshiomhole by 5Ebiscoo: 10:58pm On Jul 05, 2018
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, on Thursday said only the enthroning of justice and equity in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would end crisis in the party.

Dogara stated this at a meeting between APC members of the House and the National Working Committee (NWC) members of the party led by the Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, at the National Assembly.

The speaker said that APC lawmakers only expect justice meted to all members equally.

Dogara said “In every family, whether it is a nuclear, extended or an organisation, there is bound to be problem and that is because we, humans that are running those institutions are not perfect ourselves.

“So, we don’t expect perfection from any quarters.

“Our only expectation is the issue of justice and justice is indivisible. What is justice to the executive should be justice to the legislature and it should be justice to the judiciary.

‘What is justice to the President and the Vice President should be justice to the Governor and it has to be justice for the members of the National Assembly, because you can’t divide justice.

“Once you begin to divide justice you don’t have justice, and once we are able to get these things in their proper perspectives to some extent, we will be able to silence the voices of dissent within the party.

“We have problems, it’s perfectly okay but we mustn’t allow our problems to define us rather we should define our problems as a party,” he said.

Dogara further expressed hope in the capacity of Oshiomhole to tackle the challenges confronting the party.

“I know that you came well prepared; we can only wish you well and pray for God’s additional wisdom because human wisdom won’t be enough as you navigate very treacherous terrain.

“We pray God wisdom for you.”

On his part, Oshiomhole told the lawmakers that “every person matters in our party because all party members voluntarily moved from various political platforms and dissolved those platforms in order to give birth to the APC.

“Delivering greater good for Nigerians held the APC together and defines us in spite of the teething problems we were bound to experience that every new organisation goes through.”

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has berated President Muhammadu Buhari over claims that Igbo Presidency depends on their support for his 2019 re-election bid.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha had said people of the South East can only produce a President if they support Buhari in 2019.

Reacting to the comment, leader of MASSOB, Uchenna Madu said Buhari’s claim that the “political future of Ndigbo depends on him was another hypocritical plan to deceive the people of Biafra.”

In a statement issued yesterday, Madu, noted that “our political future and every other futuristic existence of Ndigbo can never be depended or attached to President Mohammed Buhari or any other Hausa Fulani man.

“Even the political errand men of President Mohammed Buhari in his APC from Biafra land can no longer perform positively because our people are more conscious of Biafra than Igbo political interest in Nigeria.

“It is an abomination and a taboo in Igbo land to say or think that Ndigbo will depend or rely on Hausa Fulani man for political, economic, academic, social, religious survivals unless President Mohammed Buhari is referring to the misguided and uncultured Igbos.

“MASSOB will work tirelessly with other pro-independence movements to frustrate and stop the election processes in Biafra land. We can no longer continue to function on a fraudulent 1999 constitution that was imposed on the citizens by Hausa Fulani military government.”

Religion / Cardinal Onaiyekan Speaks On Plateau Killings, 2019 Election by 5Ebiscoo: 11:11am On Jul 01, 2018
Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan has asked President Muhammadu Buhari administration to reveal the perpetrator of killings in Nigeria.

Cardinal Onaiyekan, speaking with Sun on the recent killings in Plateau State, said killing of over 200 people was one too one many.

The Cleric noted that the government had a knowledge of the perpetrators behind the killings, adding that Nigerians do not believe their leaders anymore.

“Two hundred people dying is too many in a country that claims not to be at war. Nobody else in the world will believe that such a thing can happen without a government knowing who they [perpetrators] are.

“And I do hope that our rulers know that nobody believes them anymore. Nobody believes them anymore, because it’s not possible that 200 people would be massacred with nobody seeing them, no one arrested or nobody called to order. It saddens my heart. Now, this is a very typical case.

“Whether those killed were Christians or Muslims, that’s not the issue. That 200 human lives were destroyed is the point here. Similarly, I don’t really care about identities of those who are killing; but whoever they are, they should be stopped and they should be prosecuted.

“Nigeria, we’ve turned elections into crisis. Nigerians don’t know, for example, that in other countries you wake up in the morning, you go and vote and go back to work – even government officials. Schools keep running; teachers just leave classrooms and move to election centres and go back to class. No police sirens, no soldiers everywhere.

“Last weekend, it was only the APC convention that took place at Eagle Square, and the whole of Abuja was under siege. And I asked myself, what’s the problem? Who’s attacking whom? Why do we need a whole army of soldiers because a political party is holding its convention?

“And if it’s like this in the greenwood, what will happen when the woods are dry? No, we have to change,” he said.

On the 2019 elections, Onaiyekan said, “There must be something else in this election that you and I do not understand. If it’s just a question of picking somebody among volunteers who are going to serve us, do we need all these?

“There must be something else behind it and they should, please, confess and tell us. What’s it that they are killing themselves over?”

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday assented to two new bills.

Presidential Liaison to the National Assembly (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, told State House Correspondents that the new laws were the Medical Residency Training Act, 2018 and the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (Establishment, Etc) (Amendment) Act, 2018.

According to Enang, the medical law enacts and regulates the Medical Residency Training Programme for the training of Medical Practitioners and Dental Surgeons.

The programme would be regulated and managed by the National Medical Post-graduate College of Nigeria.

He said that the programme was for persons with the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB. BSc, MB. CH, B, BDS), or its equivalent, who had done the NYSC programme with discharge or exemption certificate.

The aide added that such candidates should also possess professional indemnity certificate from a reputable insurance company, among others.

“This Act is directed at ensuring the quality and competence of medical practice and practitioners in Nigeria through statutory medical training programmes.

“It is to encourage medical tourism from other countries to Nigeria and build further confidence in Nigeria medical system,’’ he stated.

The Presidential Aide said the amended Hydro Power Act, No. 7 of 2010 reduced the derivation payable to the commission from 30 per cent to 10 per cent.

“The amendment further fortifies the power of the minister to issue policy directives as well as re-enforced statutory powers of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to regulate the Electricity Industry under the principal Act.

“The amendment eliminates ambiguity in the law and role conflict of the responsible institutions as well as properly providing for the exercise of statutory powers of NERC which was established before now,” he added.

Politics / Plateau: You’re Encouraging Herdsmen Killings – PDP Reps Blast Buhari by 5Ebiscoo: 9:32pm On Jun 28, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus of the House of Representatives has expressed deep shock over the barbaric killing of many people in Plateau by herdsmen.

The caucus stated that it had become extremely worrisome that owing to the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC federal government’s unending rhetoric and deliberate ineffectiveness, criminality and free flow of human blood had continued across the nation.

In a statement issued by the House Deputy Minority Leader, Honourable Chukwuka Wilfred Onyema in Abuja on Thursday, the PDP House Caucus also condemned the Presidential Villa security personnel’s Tuesday assault on a leader of the Bring Back Our Girls Movement (BBOG) and former Minister of Education, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili who was on a solo march to the State House to demand for accountability and end· to the violent killings going on in the country.

According to the lawmakers, many Nigerians are perplexed that a government that had taken very urgent and comprehensive action to neutralize the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) which had not killed, currently finds its very difficult to tackle criminal herdsmen who have been attacking people in Benue, Zamfara, Taraba and other states.

“Following the gruesome killing of more than 100 persons and razing of some 50 houses, two· cars and 15 motorcycles by rampaging herdsmen who wantonly invaded Razat, Ruku, Nyarr, Kura and Gana-Ropp villages of Gashish District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau state, the US Department of State joined its voice to that of numerous concerned Nigerians by expressing utter condemnation for such unjustified violence.

“For long, the APC government that came into power on the basis of now-unrealized promises of bringing back all the abducted Chibok girls had remained rather aloof from the cries and pains of many whose states and communities had been visited with pains, sorrow and death in the hands of rampaging and armed herdsmen.

“Activist lawyer, Femi Falana has expressed possibility of dragging the Federal Government and the Plateau State Government to the Special Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court for condoning crimes against humanity and genocide while Amnesty International which notes that at least 1813 people have been murdered in 17 states in the country this year, asserts that government’s failure to hold murderers to account is encouraging them and fueling rising insecurity across the country.

“It is cause for concern that Oby Ezekwesili, the co-convener of the BBOG movement ran into trouble after she began a loud solo protest with her demands for action from the Presidency, as she asked for explanations that normally agitate the minds of many Nigerians.

“On a date that it had just been disclosed that Nigeria, under the APC government, has overtaken India in the democratization of poverty for 87 million citizens, including 11 million that lost their jobs within the last three years; Ezekwesili was asking the APC government to put an end to the endless· killings by herdsmen, stop its routine blame game and reveal the identity of the perpetrators of wanton· killings in Benue, Taraba, Kaduna, Zamfara, Plateau, Nassarawa and Kogi states.

“Too many needless deaths are occurring and it is time for all to feel deeply concerned; we urge all Nigerians to join hands in special prayers for the repose of the souls of those killed as well as victory against those using political power to tactically justify the activities of killer herdsmen,” the PDP House Caucus stated.

Politics / Miyetti Allah Cries Out Over Killing Of Cows And Herdsmen By Nigeria Army by 5Ebiscoo: 1:22pm On Jun 28, 2018
The Nasarawa State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN, has called on the military to arrest and prosecute its herdsmen involved in any form of crime. The branch chairman, Muhammed Hussein made the call while appealing to the military to stop killing their members.

Hussein expressed worries over the spate of attacks on its members. Addressing journalists in Lafia, the state capital, Hussein alleged that six herdsmen and 150 cows had been killed by suspected military personnel.
Hussein said,
Quote
“We are worried how six of our members were shot dead by some bad eggs that are in the military.

“If the military suspects any Fulani man for any crime, they should arrest and prosecute him and not to just kill him like that.

“I am not aware of what led to the attack but I was informed that some soldiers just invaded Fulani settlement and shot six of our people including a traditional title holder in the Fulani community.

“If you claim that the Fulani people committed a crime, how about the cows, what did the cows do that warranted the killing of 150 cows. What for?”

Crime / Herdsmen Strike In Adamawa, Kill Two, Injure 29 Others by 5Ebiscoo: 10:45am On Jun 28, 2018
Suspected herdsmen on Wednesday attacked Bare village in the Numan Local Government of Adamawa State, killing two people and inflicting 29 others with various degrees of injury.

It was gathered that those killed were attacked on their farms, while the attackers also set the villages ablaze.

The Chairman, Numan Local Government Area, Rev. Arnold Ijibla, who called on the people not to take laws into their hands, said security agencies were in control of the situation.

One of the victims of the attack, Simeon Mailaimu, who is the councillor representing Bare Council Ward in the local government, said the attack was unprovoked.

Mailaimu, who is the leader of the Numan Legislative Council, said that cows belonging to Fulani herdsmen had invaded a farmland, adding that the community was attacked because the residents tried to chase the cows away from the farm.

On his part, chairman of the Hunters’ Association, Nasarawa Demsa and Numan branch, Alhaji Bala Uba, called on the state government to provide vehicles for their quick response to tackle the invasion of the village.

Celebrities / Plateau Killings: ‘are You Still In Control’ – Yomi Fash-lanso Writes Open Lette by 5Ebiscoo: 3:42pm On Jun 27, 2018
Nollywood actor, Yomi Fash-Lanso who campaigned for President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015, has written an open letter to the President following the killings in different parts of the country.

Yomi in his open letter queried Buhari over the killings and herdsmen/farmers crisis in the country despite his promise to Nigeria in 2015.

The actor urged Buhari to confirm to Nigerians if cattle rearers are behind the killings and if Miyetti Allah is above the law even after taking responsibility for killings in some parts of the country.

He urged Buhari to state if he is still in control of the country.

The letter reads, “I won’t bother you sir, President Muhammad Buhari – Chief Security Officer of our sovereign nation under GOD. Nigeria.

” I would’ve loved to write you a letter but I know you won’t get it even if it’s through DHL, UPS, FEDEX etc, thus my reason of putting it up here on my page, and tagging you because I know that via this medium you’ll get it, or your page handlers will pass the message to you.

” I’m a born and bred in Nigeria man. Lagos state to be precise, and I’ve lived all my life in this beautiful country because I love my country. Not because I can’t afford to check out with my family. So you’ll understand my stance.

” I followed you from 1984 – 2015 because of your integrity, anti-corruption campaign, tenacious stand and your one Nigeria advocacy you’ve always preached. Mr President I was one amongst millions of young Nigerians that put their life, career, and family on the line to campaign for you when you showed interest in Nigeria politics because we believe you can put Nigeria back on the right path, and we were so happy when you eventually won in 2015. Some even lost their precious lives celebrating your victory.

“But! What went wrong Sir? Are you still in control of security and safety of lives and property in Nigeria? Sir, are you now tribalistic as been alleged by some quarters in Nigeria?

“Sir, are you carrying out a Fulani agenda as been alleged by some quarters in Nigeria? Sir, are the lives lost been brutally and mercilessly slaughtered since 2015, not Nigerians?

” Sir, are you so sure that some politicians are the ones behind the mishaps befalling Nigeria? Sir, are the Miyetti Allah people that own up to the plateau, Benue and other state killings above the law?

“Sir, is the life of a cow worth more than that of a human?Sir, is it a norm that farmers crops and vegetations which are a source of survival for them be destroyed because cow rearers need to graze the land?

” Sir, are you accepting the fact that cow rearers are killers in disguise? I’ll stop here sir while I and millions of Nigerians that campaigned and voted for you wait for answers via actions.”

Politics / APC: Stop ‘monkey Working, Baboon Enjoying’ Syndrome – Buhari Tells Oshiomhole by 5Ebiscoo: 12:05pm On Jun 26, 2018
Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has tasked the newly elected national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole to quickly commence reconciliation efforts.

Its spokesman, Sulyman Buhari, in a statement on Monday, also urged him to end the syndrome he described as ‘monkey dey work, baboon dey chop’.

The party argued that there was the urgent need to restore APC to the line of sanity, party supremacy and constitutionalism.

He said: “A situation where ‘monkeys’ will be toiling day and night at the grassroots mobilising for the party but some ‘baboons’ will be sitting arrogantly in Abuja without lifting a finger and yet dragging the party structure with genuine party members should be done with already.

“We reiterate that the Adams Oshiomole-led APC is coming at a time of a lot of storm in the party which if not properly handled, and quick, might affect the chances of the party in the next polls”.

Kwara APC hailed the outgone and new national leadership of the party, President Muhammadu Buhari, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker Yakubu Dogara and all leaders of thought who ensured a hitch-free convention.

“We congratulate particularly Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the Publicity Secretary-elect. His re-election by an overwhelming majority of our party members across the 36 states of the federation and Abuja is a testimony to his competence, doggedness and astuteness as our party’s spokesperson.

“We urge the winners to be magnanimous in victory. They should embrace and accommodate their co-contestants in the scheme of things, as we all move forward towards nation building,” it stated.

Politics / Oke-ogun Rejects Cattle Ranches, Tackles Buhari, Ajimobi by 5Ebiscoo: 10:03pm On Jun 25, 2018
People of Oke-Ogun geo-politocal zone of Oyo State on Monday rejected the establishment of cattle ranches being proposed by the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in some states, including Oyo.

They made this known via a statement signed by Comrade Jare Ajayi, Spokesman of Oke-Ogun Council of Elders (OCE), made available to DAILY POST in Ibadan, the state capital.

OCE while calling on the federal government to have a change of mind on its recent decision to create cattle ranches in the country added that “The people of Oke-Ogun in Oyo State reject it in all its ramifications. Given the discord and possible bloodshed that such a proposition is likely to cause, the government ought not to contemplate it at all. Oke-Ogun also expressed regret that Oyo State is among ten states where the pilot ranches will begin. It called on the Oyo State government to reject the idea completely.

“This is in sharp contrast to the promise made by Governor Abiola Ajimobi on April 26, 2016 while speaking during the launch of the ‘AgricOyo,’ the state’s agriculture initiative held at Paago, Iseyin, in Oke Ogun zone of the state.”

OCE in the statement also “expressed surprise that the federal government that admitted the loss of lives and as much as about $14 billion (₦5.04 trillion) annually to herdsmen/farmers-related conflicts could still go ahead to think of this obnoxious project rather than finding a lasting solution to the problem”.

They added that, “The lasting solution advocated is to ban open grazing of livestock and to encourage livestock farmers to embrace modern ways of rearing animals which is ranching. But this has to be by private arrangement and not something that would be created for livestock farmers by the government.

OCE maintained that the project “will create far greater problems than it will solve”.

OCE asked the governor to stand by this position saying, “What has changed between 2016 when this statement was made and now? If anything, there are more cogent reasons now not to accommodate the kind of grazing zones or ranches being proposed by the federal government.

“In any case both the federal and Oyo State governments should know that there is no land of any size in Oke ogun for the kind of ranches being proposed. We cannot allow ourselves to be run over”.

The ten states listed by the federal for the ranching, for which it plans to spend N179billion over the next 10 years include: Adamawa, Benue, Ebonyi, Edo, Kaduna, Nassarawa, Oyo, Plateau, Taraba and Zamfara.

Politics / APC National Convention: Okorocha Speaks On Clash Between His Supporters, Izunas by 5Ebiscoo: 11:36pm On Jun 24, 2018
Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has said the clash between his supporters and those of a former Senator who represented Imo West, Senator Osita Izunaso, was nothing too serious.

The incident happened at the venue of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention on Saturday.

But Okorocha insists that it is nothing to be worried about.

“Those bubbles and disagreements do occur, especially when people perceive injustice or something wrong.

“When you see many people speaking at the same time, then it becomes a noise; then when you see as a body shuffle and movements, then it could lead to somebody pushing another,” the governor told Channels Television.

The clash occurred after some delegates from Imo and Delta states engaged themselves in a free-for-all.
