Politics / Ekiti Election: Fayose Will Be Caged, APC Ready To Defeat PDP – Fayemi by 5Ebiscoo: 11:06pm On Jun 21, 2018
All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has assured the people of Ekiti State of adequate security on July 14 when they go to polls to elect a new governor.

Fayemi urged eligible voters to come out and exercise their civic rights and not to be intimidated by Governor Ayo Fayose’s alleged threats to cause mayhem on election day.

The APC flag bearer declared that the incumbent governor will be caged on the day of election as he (Fayose) will only be allowed to vote and go back to his house in Afao.

He said: “We will ensure adequate security for voters on election day because if you are not well protected, the election will not be free, far, credible, transparent, genuine and acceptable.

“Fayose cannot threaten or intimidate anybody on the day of election. Fayose will only be allowed to cast his vote and he will go back to his house in Afao.”

Fayemi who spoke on Thursday while on campaign tour to communities in Ido/Osi Local Government Area, said he was on a mission to rescue Ekiti people from poverty, misery, bad governance and put the state on the path of good governance, progress and development.

Communities visited by Fayemi include Ifaki, Orin, Ora, Aaye, Ifisin, Igbole, Osi, Ido, Ilogbo, Usi and Ayetoro where more People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leaders and members defected to the APC.

Fayemi was joined at the rallies by the deputy governorship rally, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi; Ekiti APC Chairman, Chief Olajide Awe; former Minister of State for Works, Prince Dayo Adeyeye; former House of Assembly Speaker, Dr. Adewale Omirin; former House of Assembly member, Mrs. Bunmi Oriniowo and a senatorial aspirant, Dr. Olusegun Osinkolu.

The APC flag bearer said Fayose, his party, PDP, and the candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, have nothing to showcase in those communities in the last three-and-half years noting that the projects being enjoyed by the people were the ones he (Fayemi) executed in his first tenure.

Fayemi said projects like civic centres, health centres, five kilometer community roads, school and hospital renovations are flagship projects that will swing votes in APC’s favour.

He promised that all the human capital development policies like payment of monthly stipends to the aged, free health services, free education, payment of WAEC, NECO, NABTEB and JAMB fees for pupils in public schools will return the movement an APC government takes over in October.

Fayemi also promised more Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) assisted projects, employment through Peace Corps, Ekiti Traffic Management Agency (EKSTMA), return of Core Subject Allowances and Rural Teachers’ Allowances, regular payment of workers’ salaries and pensioners’ benefits.

According to him, a special health intervention programme for Obas and Chiefs tagged “Ilera Laafin,” Local Council Development Areas, Volunteer Corps scheme, among others will return.

He also debunked the PDP allegation that he would sack teachers and civil servants noting that workers enjoyed salary increase three times during his first tenure.

Fayemi lampooned Fayose for owing core civil servants, local government workers and teachers between five and nine months salaries expressing regret that no worker had collected salaries meant for this year (2018).

He said it was an act of irresponsibility and insincerity for the governor to be calling himself a friend of civil servants and teachers and still be owing them arrears of salaries despite getting financial reliefs from the Federal Government.

The former Minister of Mines and Steel Development declared that the PDP will meet its waterloo on election day as Ekiti people who had allegedly been deceived will show the umbrella party the way out of
the Government House.

He urged party members and voters to go back to their units and work noting that election is not won on the social media but at the polling units.

Fayemi added: “Let’s deal with them (PDP) with our votes, we are going to give them a bloodied nose with our votes on July 14 because Fayemi of today is different from that of yesterday.

“If the PDP people come here, they have nothing to campaign with and that is why they are resorting to lies but they have exhausted their lies.

“Go to your units, vote and protect your votes. Election is not done on Facebook, Twitter or WhatsApp, the votes are at the polling units.

“APC will give a better life to our people, we have done it before and with your support, we will do it again because our legacies are all around the state for everybody to see.”

Politics / Why We Want United States, Europe Sanctions On Nigeria – HURIWA by 5Ebiscoo: 7:17am On Jun 21, 2018
The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has called on the government of the United States and the European Union to impose sanctions on Nigeria over the spate of alleged killings of civilians by security forces since two years ago.

The Rights group has also asked the United States Congress to freeze the sale of weapons to Nigeria already approved by President Donald Trump during a recent state visit by the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari “under whose command and control over a thousand unarmed Igbo demonstrators and sympathizers of the now proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra were mauled to their gruesome deaths by Nigeria Army”.

HURIWA said it was strange for Trump to sale sophisticated weapons to the Nigeria Army “responsible for the gruesome mass murder of unarmed members of the Shiites Islamic movement and the unjust incarceration of its leader; his wife and hundreds of other members arrested and dumped in detention facilities for demanding the release of their leader”.

The group, in a statement signed by the National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and the National Media Affairs Director Miss Zainab Yusuf, condemned the “inhuman decision” by the U.S President to okay the sale of fighter jets to the Nigerian government whose security forces killed thousands of Nigerian civilians which was even captured in the recent human rights report by the American state department.

HURIWA asserted that Amnesty International had done a highly scientific and evidence-based findings which indicted the Nigeria Army for the extra-legal killings of over 600 demonstrators suspected to be members of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, and over 350 persons belonging to Shiites Islamic Movement who were killed by Army in Zaria over two years ago.

“We are in deep shock that although the United States President is ceased of all the damaging facts about large scale extralegal killings that occurred in South East of Nigeria and North West of Nigeria but still proceeded to okay the sell of the deadly fighter jets to the Nigeria Army whose human rights record is about the worst globally,” it said.

The group recalled that a frontline rights group, the International Society for Civil Liberties & the Rule of Law (Intersociety) recently accused the Nigerian Army of illegally killing about 150 pro-Biafra activists last year, apart from the number listed by Amnesty international. It alleged that the crime was committed last year and covered up under the blanket of Operation Python Dance II.

The allegation was contained in a statement signed by Intersociety Board Chairman, Emeka Umeagbalasi, and Head, Civil Liberties & Rule of Law Programme, Barr Obianuju Joy Igboeli.

HURIWA quoted the statement released from the group’s head office in Onitsha, Anambra State, thus: “The combined authorities of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force are responsible for killing of no fewer than 456 defenseless and unarmed citizens of the country in 2017 alone. The killings included jet-bombing of no fewer than 236 Christian IDPs at Rann IDP camp in Kale-Balge LGA of Borno State on 17th January 2017.

“There were also no fewer than 20 supporters of Biafra Indigenous People, shot and killed by soldiers at pro Trump Rally in Port Harcourt on 20th January 2017; no fewer than 50 rural Christians bombed to death in Numan, Adamawa State on 4th December 2017; and no fewer than 150 mainly supporters of Biafra Indigenous People killed on 12th, 13th and 14th of September 2017 in Afara-Ukwu, near Umuahia (105 deaths), Isiala-Ngwa (20 deaths) and Aba (25 deaths). Over 100 unarmed and defenseless others were also shot and wounded particularly in Afara-Ukwu; which witnessed the highest number of injuries and Aba with the second highest number of injuries.

“In 2016, the Nigerian Army, joined by Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies killed no fewer than 200 pro Biafra activists in Aba on 18th and 29th of January and 9th of February (60 deaths including 16 slain bodies dumped in two burrow pits and over ten recovered slain bodies) and 29th and 30th of May 2016 at Nkpor, Onitsha and Asaba (140 deaths with only about 15% bodies of the slain recovered and buried by their families).

“In 2015, the Nigerian Army, joined by Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies killed no fewer than 50 unarmed pro Biafra campaigners. They were killed at Awka and Onitsha on 30thAugust; again in Onitsha and Aba on 2nd December and lastly for the year in Onitsha on 17thDecember at Niger Bridgehead. Out of no fewer than ten killed in Aba on 2nd December 2015 along Aba-Port Harcourt Road, five slain bodies were later dumped inside a burrow pit.

“The remaining number of deaths associated with army massacre of pro-Biafra Campaigners came from other violent crackdowns that greeted their street protests between 2015 and 2016 in Asaba-Delta State, Enugu-Enugu State, Abakiliki and environs-Ebonyi State, Yanogoa-Bayelsa State, Port Harcourt-Rivers State and Uyo-Akwa Ibom State. There are also unreported others technically classified as dark and grey figures of crimes. In the above highlighted massacre operations, no fewer than 500 were shot and maimed with some crippled for life and a number of others died from injuries sustained.

“The Nigerian Army is also responsible for killing between 12th and 14th of December 2015; of no fewer than 1000 members of Islamic Movement in Nigeria or IMN. The killings took place in Zaria, Kaduna State during the annual sacred procession of the sect. Subsequent killing by security forces in 2016 and above; of the unarmed Islamic sect members also led to no fewer than 120 deaths.

“There are also other military killings resulting from custody related deaths in Northeast Nigeria. These deaths perpetrated in conflict environment and outside military necessity, clearly constitute war crimes. They include torture-deaths (including starvation and malnutrition) in army detention centers involving hundreds of civilians including new born and others aged not above five. Among such deaths were 240 deaths recorded in the Giwa Military Barracks in 2016 in Borno State. Statistics relating to these custodial deaths are contained in the reports of Amnesty Int’l including its 2016/2017 and 2018 reports on Nigeria.”

HURIWA then said: “We have resolved to dispatch letters directly to the United States Congress to demand for immediate imposition of military sanctions and immediate embargo on proceeding with the military commercial partnership with Nigeria not until the Nigerian state is able to prosecute and punish all the armed operatives responsible for these massive extra-legal killings in the South East and also the killers of Shiites Moslems.”

HURIWA endorsed the investigation by the Onitsha-based NGO which stated that: “From our findings following several months of investigation, no fewer than 150 pro Biafra activists and other defenseless members of the public were killed by the Nigerian Army; with 70% of the deaths arising from Afara-Ukwu massacre. In the Afara-Ukwu massacre of 14th September 2017, no fewer than 105 deaths were recorded.

“No fewer than 20 deaths were also recorded at Isiala-Ngwa Army Checkpoint, while 25 others occurred in Aba. The Army massacre operation in Afara-Ukwu; which commenced around 3.26pm of 14th September 2017, resulting in the death of not less than 105 citizens, was executed in less than three hours during which no fewer than 70 others were shot and injured. No single soldier lost his life in the operation. Sixty (60) unarmed citizens including survivors of the massacre and other members of the public were also arrested during and after the massacre and arraigned at Umuahia Magistrate Court on “terrorism charges”. They were later reminded at Aba Prison Custody.

“As it has become the atrocious practice of the Nigerian Army military since mid-2015, approximately 80% of the bodies of those shot and killed in Afara-Ukwu, Isiala-Ngwa and Aba were taken away and dumped in undisclosed locations till date. For instance, days after the Afara-Ukwu massacre, corpses numbering eight were found inside a bush at a location in Umuahia. The dumped dead bodies later identified as supporters of Biafra Indigenous People and its leader, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu by their survivor-colleagues.”

HURIWA said these killings must be accounted for and the mass murderers in military uniforms identified, prosecuted and punished for tgese crimes against humanity.

Crime / Cultists Kill Imo Pastor, Dump Body In Farm by 5Ebiscoo: 8:19am On Jun 19, 2018
The Umuhuo, Ikwerrede-Awara community, in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State was thrown into mourning on Monday after the lifeless body of a pastor, Friday Isinwa, of Seven Days Church of God was found near a pipeline after a two-day search by villagers.

Sources in the community told PUNCH Metro that the late Isinwa, a father of four, who was equally a farmer, had gone to one of his farms to harvest cassava when he was waylaid by suspected cult members, who murdered him after striping him naked.

After his remains were found on Monday, a large number of youths and some aged women in the community reportedly staged a protest against the killing.

It was gathered that there had been a supremacy battle in the community between members of the Iceland and Deygbam confraternities.

While many lives had been lost to the clashes, properties were reportedly set ablaze.

An indigene of the community, who identified himself simply as Kingsley, said, “Pastor Isinwa went to one of his farmlands on Saturday to harvest cassava and did not come back.”

He added that his family members alerted other villagers that he was missing and a search party was organised on Saturday and Sunday.

The party was said to have found his lifeless body near a pipeline in the community on Monday.

“He was a pastor with Seven Days Church of God in this community. He had four children and was an easy-going man.

“The way we found him showed that his death was terrible; he was stripped naked and made to suffer before he died.

“The community is protesting and we want the government and security agencies to solve this problem in our community once and for all. We can’t continue to live in fear of some young men who have chosen to be thorns in our flesh,”Kingsley added.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Andrew Enwerem, could not be reached for comment as of press time.

Celebrities / Read Tonto Dikeh’s Moving Father’s Day Message by 5Ebiscoo: 10:28pm On Jun 17, 2018
Nollywood actress,Tonto Dikeh doesn’t hide the fact that she plays the role of a dad and mum in her son,King’s life. She partakes in all Father’s Day activities in her son’s school and even played football with the dads in her son’s school.

Today being Father’s Day,she penned a powerful message ,celebrating herself and advising fathers on how they can be the best dads.

She wrote

It’s Father’s Day and I wish Me and every man trying his best to be a good father, a Happy Father’s Day. Being a father is a tough job as a matter of fact you NEED to be anointed to function in the role of a father and these are the things I want to discuss today.
There are men who impregnated a woman and gave birth to a child but they are not fathers because they have not been able to provide for the mother and child. When you think of all the bills you have to pay to take care of your family you will realise that fatherhood is not for boys.
To be a productive father you must go after the anointing and I will teach you how. The anointing guarantees that you can take care of your family very well and still have excess. How do you get anointed as a father?

1. Fear God: The bible says in Psalm 37:25 ”
I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.” Righteous doesn’t mean someone who looks holy, it is the person who works out godly principles.
2. Give: Giving is God’s nature, if your children’s school fees is 200k and you have never given up to that amount before you always hustle their school fees. It is what you give that you can command. You MUST increase your giving if you want to be a good father.
3. Stay away from strange women: You can’t be a good father if you are sleeping around. You will start spending the money you are supposed to use to take care of your children on gold diggers.
4. Take care of your family and God will take care of you. ALWAYS put them first. If you make sure your children and wife don’t lack anything, God will make sure you don’t lack anything too.
5.Emotional invest in your Childrens life,Your availability in your Childrens life is extremely important..Get to know your kids,Be friends with them, create a bond with them, build their self confidence with Love,Teach them to Love in Gods way..
A father has a major role to play in a child’s/children life… As you begin to function like this, God will put a special grace on you to raise your children properly in Jesus name.

Crime / SO SAD: UNIZIK Graduate Bathed With Acid By Unknown Man In Port-harcourt (see Ph by 5Ebiscoo: 3:56pm On Jun 15, 2018
A beautiful lady identified as Miss Nkiruka Jane Nnaji who hails from Amorji Akpugo in Enugu State is in lament following the unfortunate circumstance which befell.

The report has it that Jane graduated from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, in 2016 and was awaiting her youth service before she was attacked with acid.

She Wrote:

“It happened on April 11, 2017, in Port-Harcourt. After my graduation I went into cosmetic business; I got a very small shop where I was managing. I was coming back from my shop that fateful day, at about 8:00 pm;

I was walking to the house when I started hearing a male voice calling ‘Chi-chi’. I thought it was somebody that wanted to toast me; I thought it was a way of attracting my attention.

“I didn’t really give him any attention. When he kept calling that name I felt it could be a way of taking my phone or robbing me so I put my phone in my bag and in less than three seconds somebody tapped me on the shoulder.”

“Immediately I turned, he poured the substance which was in a small container on me and I screamed. He ran away while I was screaming and shouting for help. People came out, poured me water and eventually they took me to the hospital that very night.

“I was in the hospital in Port-Harcourt there for two weeks before I was referred to National Orthopaedic Hospital Enugu. When I went to Orthopaedic, the next day they went on strike;

I went into coma because then the wound had already been infected because the hospital where they took me wasn’t a burns hospital. So they did not take proper care of the wound so it was bringing forth pus and was smelling.

“So I went into coma and was rushed to a private hospital, Hill-top; it was there I had two surgeries and stayed there for 35 days after paying over N1m.

“I was taken back to Orthopaedic, by then they had called off the strike; it was there that I had the remaining three surgeries. So altogether I have gone through 5 plastic surgeries in the cause of this acid attack.

“Eventually I lost the two ears; I still have a contracture on the neck, and then the left hand, and then the hair at the back.

“I don’t know because I never quarreled with anyone. If I had quarreled with anyone maybe by now I may have arrested the person. So I don’t really know.

I take this to be a mistaken identity because the name he was calling wasn’t my name. My name is not Chi, or Chinyere or anything related to that.

And the person didn’t wait to see the face of the Chinyere he was calling. So maybe he took me to be Chinyere and poured me that substance”.

“Even that very night they say they caught the person. But they thought he stole my phone because they heard me screaming. They saw him with an android phone and they confronted him accusing him of having snatched the phone from the girl that was screaming.

He said no it’s his phone. They said ok if it’s your phone, call the number. They dialed the number and it rang and they gave him back the phone and he left. So it was while I was in the hospital the person brought the number to me.

I called the police and gave my statement but they asked me to pay N70,000 to track the number alongside other expenses.

I didn’t have much money and I needed even more for my treatment so couldn’t raise the money. After my statement, they left and I didn’t hear from them again until today”.

Upon her condition, Jane has refused to question God. “I know my God has a reason for whatever happens. He is still my God and has seen me through even when doctors gave me 30% chances of survival. I am grateful to Him for keeping me alive.”

I am soliciting for funds. I am begging the public and the government in any way they can assist me so that I can be able to go for this surgery. This surgery is just my life.

I know I will not be ok, but at least after the surgery, I will be near normal. I will be able to have my ears back and the stiff neck will be released. At least I can have myself back and then know what to do with my life.

All I am pleading is just a way of helping me. I am really pleading and soliciting for this fund so that I will be able to go for the surgery in India.”

Jane’s parents are also not financially capable to pay the bills. Her parents live in Jos; her father is a retired soldier and is not working while the mum is doing nanny work in a nursery school.

Politics / #worldcup2018: Siasia Identifies Biggest Problem In Super Eagles by 5Ebiscoo: 10:51am On Jun 14, 2018
Former Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia has identified goalkeeping as the major issue in the Nigerian squad as Nigeria prepares to kick-start their World Cup campaign against Croatia.

“I am so worried about the goalkeeping because it has always been Francis Uzoho in goal throughout the warm-up games,” Siasia told SuperSports.

He said in case the 19-year-old goalkeeper gets injured Nigeria will be in a difficult situation being the only one tested during the warm up games.

He added, “My fear now is what if Uzoho got injured during or before the World Cup? I don’t think the coach has a serious trust in the two other goalkeepers (Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi).”

The former striker, however, expressed hope that the team will do well in the World Cup provided that the senior players are willing to give their best.

“Nigeria will do well in the World Cup if only the senior and experienced players will give their best on the pitch of play,” he predicted.

“These guys come out to play well in their various clubs. Look at Moses for instance.

“Moses at Chelsea comes back to help his team but in Nigeria he doesn’t do that and that is because he plays a different role in the Super Eagles squad,” he added.

Politics / Abia Electoral Commission Under Lock Over Unpaid Rent by 5Ebiscoo: 8:37pm On Jun 13, 2018
The office of the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, has been put under lock and key by the landlord over eight years of unpaid rent.

The state Electoral Commission is located at Library Avenue, in Umuahia, the state capital.

Speaking with DAILY POST at ABSIEC premises in Umuahia, on Wednesday, the landlord of the office building, who gave his name as Mr. Udeh, complained that the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s directive on the payment was being flouted.

He said, “We are law-abiding citizens of this state. As Abians, we want our grievances to be made known to the Governor, who has given approval that the rent of eight years be paid to us since January.

“They told us that we should wait for the budget to be approved. We waited and the budget was approved. Till now, they are sitting on the directive.

“We want the governor to know that his kind gestures towards us were being frustrated by his subordinates.

“It is not confrontational. The Governor is a peace loving man. He came in and saw that for eight years, the rent of ABSIEC has not been paid. And he felt bad. That is why he gave the directive it should be paid to date.”

Udeh said he was left with no other option than to lock up the place until the needful was done.

Meanwhile, as of the time of filing this report, the chairman of the Commission, Justice Igbozurike Akomas could not be reached for comment.

Sports / Messi: ‘tough And Strong’ Super Eagles Will Be Difficult To Beat by 5Ebiscoo: 2:13pm On Jun 13, 2018
Lionel Messi has admitted that though the current Nigerian team is ‘unknown’ to him and his Argentina side, the Super Eagles normally have a tough and strong character which could make them very difficult to defeat when both teams clash in their final group D game at the 2018 FIFA World Cup game, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Argentina and Nigeria are scheduled to meet for the fifth time at the World Cup in Saint Petersburg on the 26th of June with Nigeria yet to record a win over the La Albiceleste in their last three games at the Mundial in 1994, 2002, 2010 and 2014.

Both teams will also face Iceland and Croatia in group D of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Messi further stressed that favorable results against Iceland and Croatia will be more important than that over the three time African champions who are regarded as underdogs.

“Our challenge is to be champions,” Messi told UK tabliod, Express.co.uk.

“We know it won’t be easy but I’m certain that Argentina has a squad capable of being a champion in Russia. If the players all believe the same then we can be contenders.”

“If Argentina goes out there and play as we know we can then it will be very difficult to beat us.”

“We have experienced World Cups before and we know that every rival will come out to try and beat us and play the game as if it is a final. That always makes it more complicated. But we are used to it.”

“It will be important to start strongly. Iceland did well in their last tournament so the first match will not be comfortable. But these are the ones to win if you don’t want the next matches to be even more complicated.”

“Croatia is a good team with players in the big European leagues and that makes them dangerous.”

“We don’t know so much about Nigeria but the African teams are normally compact, tough and strong. So it will be no walkover.”

He also played down talks of him retiring from international football after the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

“I don’t want to speak about my future.”

“For now I’m only concerned about the present and doing the best I can in this World Cup.”

Politics / Innoson Recants, Says Court Never Awarded Him N14bn Against Gtbank by 5Ebiscoo: 8:45pm On Jun 12, 2018
Chairman of Innoson Motors, Dr Innocent Chukwuma has admitted to have posted a false report on the directive of the Supreme Court ordering the GTBank to pay him N14bn within 14 days.

Chukwuma, in a statement released last week by Cornel Osigwe, Innoson Group’s head of corporate communications, claimed that the court struck the motion for stay of execution of the Enugu court of appeal division’s order that GT Bank pays N6 billion into an interest yielding account.

GTBank in a quick reaction told the public that Innoson’s claims were “false, mischievous and malicious”.

“There was no directive or Order issued by the Supreme Court of Nigeria to the Bank to make any payment to any of its debtor Customers. We again reiterate that there is no iota of truth in the falsehood being peddled by desperate and mischievous elements and the General Public should disregard same in its entirety,” part of the Bank’s press statement read.

Innoson has publicly come out to apologize for misleading the public.

The company has now in a statement through its official handle said the caption was a slight distortion of the information.

It said, “The management of Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing want to bring to the attention of the public to the caption: *SUPREME COURT ORDERS @gtbank TO PAY 14BN to INNOSON made on its official twitter handle @Innosonvehicles.

“The caption was a slight distortion of the information. When the information came to our notice we had to correct the error made by the staff of the agency managing our social media accounts. We apologize for that misleading information.

”Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) is still committed in the vision to make Nigeria self sufficient in automobile production.”

Politics / Aso Villa Chaplain: How Osinbajo Escaped Helicopter Crash by 5Ebiscoo: 6:40am On Jun 12, 2018
The engine of the helicopter conveying Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo which had an emergency landing in Gwagwalada on June 7, 2018 actually failed, Chaplain of the Aso Villa Chapel, Pastor Seyi Malomo, revealed in Abuja yesterday.

Osinbajo was in Gwagwalada last Thursday to attend the graduation of 40 senior officers of the Nigeria Customs Service at the Customs College.

On his way back to the Presidential Villa, the helicopter conveying him made an emergency landing just about 30 seconds after take-off.

He had to undertake the journey back to the Villa by road along with his aides. But while the story went viral, his media aide, Mr. Laolu Akande, in a tweet, ascribed the reason his principal had to return by road to “technical reasons.”

However, at a special praise-and-thanksgiving service in the chapel yesterday, Malomo gave the true picture of the incident, saying the engine of the helicopter actually failed.
The pastor who said the news of the averted tragedy filtered in with shock, thanked God for preserving Osinbajo, describing his protection as the protection of the country.

He said a whole lot of 120 hours would be devoted to praising God, teaching people and praying to God for his blessings for Nigeria.

“Last week, we received the news with shock that the Vice-President’s helicopter engine failed and we thank God that God preserved him.

“The preservation of the leaders is the preservation of the nation and, as a result, we want to thank God.
“This programme was organised to thank God for His watchful eyes over our leaders, over our nation and more particularly, over the deliverance for the vice president.

“We will be spending 120 hours praising God, teaching about thanksgiving, praying to God to bless Nigeria more, establish peace in Nigeria more, preserve our nation more and give us the victory that is needed,” Malomo said.

Crime / 4 Men Allegedly Kill Their Brother, Remove His Heart For Ritual by 5Ebiscoo: 7:06pm On Jun 11, 2018
A Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday ordered four men to be remanded in Ikoyi Prisons for allegedly killing their brother and removing his heart for ritual.

The accused are: Daniel Luka, 24, Audu Isaiah, 24, Wavi David, 20 and Ayuba Musa, 24.

They are standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Modupe Olaluwoye, told the court that the men committed the offences on May 22 at Alasia along Oke-Ira road in Ajah, near Lagos.

Olaluwoye alleged that the accused had been patronising a ritualist, who asked them to provide a human heart in exchange for wealth.

She said that the accused had lured their 21-year-old brother, James Isaiah, into the bush, where they killed him with a knife and cut off his heart.

“The police were able to trace them to their house where they had admitted killing their brother for ritual purposes.

“The ritualist is however, still at large,” Olaluwoye said.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 223, 233 and 165 (a) (b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Oluwatoyin Oghere ordered that the case file should be sent to the Lagos State director of public prosecutions for advice.

She, however, adjourned the case until August 15.

Politics / 2018 World Cup: What Gernot Rohr Must Not Do To Super Eagles – Amuneke by 5Ebiscoo: 1:53pm On Jun 10, 2018
A former Super Eagles forward. Emmanuel Amuneke has warned coach Gernot Rohr against building his team around one player ahead of the World Cup on Russia.

Nigeria’s first match is with Croatia before they will file out against Iceland and Argentina.

Amuneke who was a member of the Super Eagles squad that won the 1994 Nations Cup and got to the second round of the World Cup in
USA ’94, stated that football has departed from analogue to digital.

He said for this reason, the eleven players on the field are viewed as one indivisible particle that must work as one.

He said, “When it comes to the national team, it is highly a team work, from the goalkeeper to
the attackers.

“Ndidi is strong, Kelechi is good, Ighalo is good, Mikel is good, intact all the players. These guys will do well in Russia.

“But without team work, whatever player you build the team around, they are not going to achieve anything.”

Amuneke, added, “The teams in the group should not be underrated. They should take the teams one as they come.

“If you look at our group, it’s a very a good group. It’s 50-50 for each of the teams.

“You don’t underestimate any team because if you look at every team, they all have their rich pedigree in world football.

“Argentina, of course, have one of the best players in the world, Croatia have some of the best quality players though they struggled to qualify.

“When we were going to play against Argentina a couple of weeks ago, it was 6 to 1. But you see the truth is that in Nigeria we always believe and once we believe, we conquer.

“Our players are quite patriotic, they love the green white green and want to make the country proud.

“We have a team for tomorrow. We have a team for the next Nations Cup. A team for the next World Cup. Our team is peopled by. youthfulness. They have that energy they want to burn out,” he said.

Politics / ‘make National Identity Requirement For Asset Declaration’ by 5Ebiscoo: 6:54am On Jun 10, 2018
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has asked the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to make the National Identification Number (NIN) a basic requirement for asset declaration in the country.

At a one-day Code of Conduct Sensitisation Workshop at the NIMC headquarters in Abuja, last Wednesday, the Director General/CEO, NIMC, Engr. Aliyu Aziz, said it is vital for the two agencies to collaborate and make NIN a basic requirement for all public officers, who come forward for asset declaration.

He noted that NIN would allow the Code of Conduct Bureau tie all records of public officers together and automate the process, so that one can search for an individual and his assets with the unique NIN.

Aziz said the intention of the Commission is to work as an ecosystem with all data collecting agencies, save billions of taxpayers’ money, and create a unique national identity database in Nigeria. He noted: “We are currently working with the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) who have made the NIN mandatory for land allocation within the FCT, and this process allows them track assets and transactions.”

The Director General applauded the management of the Code of Conduct Bureau for the visit, and efforts made to sensitise public officers on the codes and ethics of work expected of them. The Deputy Director, Code of Conduct Bureau, Mr. Michael Okwose, promised to inform his boss on the need to include NIN in the data capturing process of public officers at the point of registration.

Politics / Keyamo Slams Obasanjo Over Claims Of Buhari’s Plot To Kill Him by 5Ebiscoo: 9:25am On Jun 09, 2018
Festus Keyamo (SAN), Director, Strategic Communications of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 campaign, has slammed former President Olusegun Obasanjo over allegations that the President was perfecting plans to kill him.

Obasanjo on Friday claimed that Buhari’s government was planning to frame him and consequently kill him by plotting his arrest on false charges.

According to him, part of the plan was for Buhari to seize his International passport and clamp him into detention indefinitely.

However, responding to the allegations, Keyamo said Obasanjo was desperate for attention away from criticism of his failure to declare June 12 Democracy Day throughout his eight years in power.

He described Obasanjo’s statement as a ‘Childish prank’ to halt credits given to Buhari over June 12 democracy day.

“Obasanjo’s outcry is for two reasons: 1. To attract unearned sympathy to himself in order to deflect the damage the immortalisation of June 12 has done to his image as the main antagonist of Abiola’s mandate.

“2. To dampen the accolades going the way of PMB over the issue. It’s childish prank,” Keyamo tweeted.

Health / Best Tips How To Get A Bigger Butt Fast by 5Ebiscoo: 11:09am On Jun 08, 2018
Did you know that the glutes are the largest muscle in your body? That's why it's so difficult to shape them the way you want. Your butt actually consists of three primary muscles that work together to maintain your posture, assist with running, and generate power during exercise. Due to their size, they need to be constantly stimulated and trained.

In case you're wondering how to get a bigger butt fast, be prepared to eat clean and work out harder. The more effort you put in, the better the results.

Limit Cardio
Most women looking to improve butt size and shape engage in long cardio sessions. They spend hours on the stationary bike, run every morning, and take aerobics classes. Yet, they look average at the best.

Cardio training won't help you get the booty you're after. In fact, it could make your butt flat by burning muscle. If you're slightly overweight, cardio can help - just make sure you keep it to a minimum. Heavy weights and strength exercises are your best bet.

Additionally, it's not possible to spot reduce or build muscle in specific areas while ignoring the rest of your body. You must work all muscle groups to ignite fat loss and grow your booty. Clean eating helps you shed stubborn fat, while strength training builds lean mass.

Train Smart
Contrary to popular belief, it's no need to do a bunch of fancy exercises to get a perfect butt. The key is to gradually increase workout load and intensity so you can prevent plateaus and keep your muscles guessing. This applies to all muscle groups, not just your glutes.

First of all, focus on compound exercises. These should make up at least 80 percent of your workout. Choose free weights over gym machines and use proper form at all times. Forget about high-rep training - it will only fatigue your muscles and stress your central nervous system. Perform eight to 12 reps per set and three to five sets per exercise.

Compound glute movements include deadlifts, squats, and lunges. For each, you can try dozens of variations, such as the Bulgarian split squat, front squat, back squat, pistol squat, and more.

The remaining 20 percent of your workout should consist of isolation exercises. Glute bridges, hip thrusts, donkey kicks, step-ups, and ice skaters are all a great choice.

Do three or four compound exercises and two or three isolation movements per session. Consider working your glutes twice a week to get faster results. In this case, perform fewer exercises n order to prevent overtraining and reduce injury risk.

Eat for a Bigger Butt
Now that you know how to get a bigger butt fast through exercise, clean up your diet. Increase your protein take, swap simple sugars for complex carbs, and consume healthy fats. Protein is the most important nutrient for muscle growth and repair. Therefore, make sure you're getting enough of it.

Lean beef, chicken, turkey, organ meats, fish, seafood, eggs, cottage cheese, and low-fat dairy are all excellent sources of protein. Legumes, nuts, and leafy greens are rich in protein too, but they also contain carbs. Meat, fish, and eggs are carb-free.

The harder you work out, the more carbs you need. Get these nutrients from whole grains, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, quinoa, and veggies. Nuts, seeds, avocado, and oily fish are loaded with healthy fats that promote muscle growth and boost your metabolism.

Beware that you can’t build a bigger butt by resorting to crash diets. Your glutes need protein and calories to grow. Clean eating combined with strength training will do more for your body than any special diet or miracle pill.

Celebrities / This Power Firm Official Was Stoned To Death In Ogun by 5Ebiscoo: 9:44am On Jun 07, 2018
Some residents of Ota-Idiroko, in the Ota area of Ogun State, have been arrested by the police for allegedly stoning to death an official of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, Peter Ayole.

The 52-year-old was said to be an auditor at the Abakaliki, Ebonyi State office of the company.

The victim, who was said to be on leave, had reportedly decided to spend the leave with his wife and children at their house in the Ota area.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Peter had a disagreement with some neighbours, at another site belonging to him, over generator fumes.

He was reportedly protesting the alleged refusal of the neighbours to turn off the generator when he was stoned to death.

His widow, Oluwafunmilayo Ayole, explained that the incident happened on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.

She said, “We were together at home that morning when he said he was going to our site to see how the plumbers were doing. We had had some people coming to ask us that they needed rooms for rent.

“Not up to 30 minutes after he left, I got a call that my husband had fallen after he was stoned. The site is just a stone’s throw from our house, so I got there in no time. I saw that he had been laid on a plank, lifeless. I asked what happened and I was told that he was stoned by some people who sold confectionary beside the construction site.

“I learnt that when he arrived there, he met the plumbers idle. The plumbers told him they could not work because of the fumes from the generator of the neighbours who were selling confectionary. My husband had complained to me several times about them before and all his appeals to them to shift their generator house were abortive.

“So, he picked a stick and climbed three blocks beside the toilet under construction. He started hitting the roof of their building with the stick and calling them to turn off their generator.”

She explained that one of those in the building made a snide remark about the chartered accountant, telling him to stop disturbing their peace.

The late Peter reportedly became aggravated when he was called a “mad man” and threatened to continue hitting the roof.

“My husband continued hitting the roof when someone stoned him with something like a grinding stone, which hit him in the head. He fell and became unconscious.

“The workers at the site took him to a private facility in the area where he was confirmed dead. He was subsequently brought back to the site.

“We took him to another private hospital, where the doctor did not even allow us to bring him in before confirming him dead. But he said we could still keep him in an airy place to see if he would regain consciousness.

“By evening, we took him to the last hospital where he was again confirmed dead. By this time, blood had started flowing out from his nostrils and mouth,” she added.

Oluwafunmilayo told our correspondent that before her husband was taken to a mortuary, some policemen from the Onipanu division visited the site, saying they had come to arrest the late Peter for disturbing the peace of the suspects.

She explained that the policemen, on discovering that Peter was dead, demanded that she follow them to make a statement at the station.

“I was weeping and pulling my husband’s legs and head for him to wake up when the policemen arrived and said they had a complaint against him.

“Obviously, those people after seeing the damage they had caused, went to report to the police as a cover-up. One of the men with me later volunteered to make a statement on my behalf at the division,” she said.

Late Peter, a certified information systems auditor, was survived by seven children.

His elder brother, Isiaka Ayole, a police officer attached to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, Lagos, described the deceased as “highly intelligent.”

Isiaka said only justice would assuage the pain of the family.

He said, “When I went to the police station, the Divisional Crime Officer told me my brother killed himself. But we checked the statements of the witnesses and they said he was stoned. All I want is justice for my brother,” he added.

Our correspondent gathered that five suspects were arrested by the police for Peter’s death.

The suspects – Morenike Akinleye (43), Ajah Chijioke (46), Sulaimon Akinleye (30), Bose Adebesin (24) and Nurudeen Adekunbi (20) – were later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

They were arraigned on Wednesday before an Ota Magistrate’s Court on two counts of manslaughter.

The charge read, “That you, Morenike Akinleye, Ajah Chijioke, Sulaimon Akinleye, Bose Adebesin and Nurudeen Adekunbi, on May 23, 2018, around 12.30pm at Km 6, Ota-Idiroko Road, Ota, Ogun State, in the Ota Magisterial District, did unlawfully conspire together to commit felony, to wit: manslaughter, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 324 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2006.

“That you did unlawfully cause the death of one Peter Ayole, aged 52, by stoning him with stones, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 325 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2006.”

While the defence counsel moved the application for their bail, the prosecutor asked that they be remanded in custody.

The magistrate, J.A. Akan, remanded the defendants in prison and adjourned the case till July 9, 2018.

Politics / Osinbajo Reveals Buhari’s Role In N-power, Other SIP Schemes by 5Ebiscoo: 9:14pm On Jun 06, 2018
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari ensured that the selection process to the various schemes of the National Social Investment Programmes were fair and transparent.

He said this led to a situation where beneficiaries did not need any kind of connection to benefit from the programmes.

The Vice President spoke on Tuesday at a town hall meeting with some beneficiaries of the National Social Investment Programme (N-SIP) in Yola, Adamawa State, to assess the progress made so far in the implementation of the programme in the state.

Having listened to the various presentations and sessions of testimonials by some beneficiaries of the various segments of the SIPs, he added that, “President Buhari made it clear that the SIP would be a major programme of the administration because he was concerned about poverty and unemployment.”

Osinbajo noted that the programme was designed to benefit all Nigerians irrespective of their background.

The VP assured the beneficiaries that Federal Government will soon scale up the implementation of the SIPs across the country.

He said more N-Power beneficiaries were being added and more micro-credit loans would be made available for beneficiaries, while the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme would be kicking off in the state very soon as cooks have already been selected.

Politics / Buhari Lied About When He Said The Nigeria Army Showed Restraint On Biafrans by 5Ebiscoo: 11:00pm On Jun 05, 2018
Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK) has reacted to the statement made by president Buhari at his investiture as Grand Patron of the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) at the presidential villa in Abuja.

While speaking, president Buhari insinuated that the Nigerian army showed lots of restraints on Biafrans during the civil war

“Earlier in my profession, during the civil war, I know how much sacrifice members of the Nigerian Red Cross and their international counterparts did both in the real front of operations and at the rear, on both sides. I think it is a lot of sacrifices because anything can happen to you in the operational areas.

“The risks they faced were real and I admire their courage and commitment to helping people who were in distress and were virtually in millions. Those photographs of people from the Biafra enclave spoke a lot.

“I remember with nostalgia the performance of the commander-in-chief, General Yakubu Gowon. Every commander was given a copy of the commander-in-chief’s instructions that we were not fighting enemies but that we were fighting our brothers. And thus, people were constrained to show a lot of restraint.

“The international observer teams were allowed to go as far as possible within and outside the front and I think this was generous and very considerate of General Gowon. He is a highly committed Nigerian” he said.

Buhari lied about when he said the Nigeria Army showed restraint on Biafrans - FFK

Reacting to the statement, FFK called the Buhari a liar as he pointed out the massacre that was carried out on innocent civilian Biafrans in Asaba.

FFK shared on Facebook:

”One of the most wicked and despicable lies that President Muhammadu Buhari has ever told is that the Nigerian Army was restrained when fighting the Biafrans during the civil war.

This is a lie from the pit of hell and it is insulting and deeply offensive. We must learn from our history and never repeat its mistakes.

Was the Asaba massacre in which thousands of innocent and defenceless young boys and old men were slaughtered an act of restraint?

Or was the killing of 2 million innocent and defenceless Biafran civilians and the premeditated and contrived starving to death of 1 million innocent Biafran children an act of restraint?

For God sake where is our humanity? Must we lie even about our history and must we always deny the truth and attempt to revise it? No wonder they banned the teaching of history in our schools. Too much to hide!

The truth is that if not for the fact that the same group of people have been calling the shots in our country since 1966 every single commander of the Nigerian Army during the civil war, including Muhammadu Buhari, would have been charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity at the International Court of Justice at the Hague by now for the atrocities they commited against the Igbo race and the Biafran people during the civil war.

I don’t need to be an Igbo to say or admit that. I just need to be an honest and objective historian and a God-fearing citizen of the world.

We must ask God to forgive us for what we did to the civilian population in Biafra and we must NEVER allow such a thing to happen again. Until that is done Nigeria will neither know peace or meaningful progress.

War is one thing but the targetting of innocent and defenceless civilians, including women and childen, for ethnic cleansing, genocide and mass murder is quite another!”
