There is no such thing in the lives of those who are followers of Jesus Christ. Read the gospel of John chapters 14, 15 and 16 to understand why such belief is meaningless for those who are followers of In Jesus Christ and are born of the Spirit.

I beg to differ sir. Perhaps you're the one who needs to read the gospels more. Most of the prayers of the apostles to the church were for spiritual growth in wisdom, utterance and love.

God is a Spirit. Jesus was a man born after our likeness. He had the Spirit of God in Him. Only Jesus can give you the Holy Spirit. If He had not given you the Holy Spirit, you are only claiming to have Him. you don't received the Holy Spirit by faith. The Holy Spirit is a gift from Jesus to those who will follow after Him because of the persecution waiting ahead of them.

The scripture says the laws kills but the spirit gives life (2 Cor 3:6)
The spirit is essential in your journey as Christian cos you need understanding to follow the word (which comes from the holy spirit)
Can you even do the word of God on your own (you were put right before God by Christ death not by what you do)
But the spirit you received when you received Christ convicts you of your sins and you obey and turn away from that. The question is will you heed to it.
God speak to us through his word as we study them.
Then why pray? Prayer keep you connected to God. As food is to the flesh, the word, prayer is to the spirit. Prayer is a form of humility that you can't do it on your own. You need God.
When Jesus was having a convo on the mountain, they became a visible transformation which the apostle noticed. Prayers (communication with God) helps us be like him which is God's desire that we may be like Christ the head of the Church

I was once like you, bitter and hasty and always willing to talk down on any christian because i believed i was armed with my own knowledge of the scriptures but i didn't realise the holy spirit wasn't operating in me. I read the bible with literal understanding just like you do now.

Really? Dont you know the scripture that says he that thinks he stands should take heed lest he falls? Dont you know that you need to be renewed everyday despite the fact that you are led by the Spirit? Dont you know that you need to keep asking for the grace of God? Dont you know that the devil is waiting patiently for you to fall? Dont think because you are led by the spirit of God you are done with praying for spiritual growth. Remember it doesn't matter matters much? The bible says not by works lest any man should boast. We need to keep asking for grace to grow even as we are led by the spirit of God because the more you ask the more you recieve.
