in the past, I have always considered sudan as part of SSA in some aspect but not part of SSA in other aspects (ex. their government etc). so it depends.

Summation, There is no particular look or face for all Northern Sudanese, some look similar to nilotes, other look very ethiopians, other look similar to the ancient egyptians and nubians, and some look arab.
