When your next door neighbour with much better ease of doing business has a special task force whose only aim is to draw companies from your country, then you know you are in an economic war Zone. Unfortunately, Nigeria don't know what time it is yet. 4 Likes |

Nigerians like yapping about our big market. A market can be big and useless. Dstv makes twice more money in South Africa than it does in Nigeria. Nigeria is gradually becoming a big market of very poor people which is not useful to any serious investor. 5 Likes |

Wow! e- hailing cab companies are finding it tough from regulators all over the world. But Lagos should have waited till next year to implement this. Ground no level now. |

VP Osibanjo will be busy shouting ease of doing business AND Economic sustainability plan upandan how does this amount to EASE of DOING business? Imposing all sort at a time businesses and individuals are trying to come out of COVID-19 pandemic sutuation do these people think through things at ALL? What is the essence of governance to provide safety for citizens and enabling enviroment for businesses or TO PUNISH US ALL? Becuase that's what LASG and FGN is good at doing.......GOKADA CEO might still be alive today if LASG ban did not get him out of here.... Certainly they are making one for someone SOON IT WILL BE OUT 5 Likes |

sylve11:As things stand the enlightened wealthy can see that imposing hardship on the populace can bring problems to their front door. Only the determinedly foolish believe that wealth can insulate them from social problems. But lets even take this regulation apart. Why are you regulating? Is there a particular risk to society from the ride hailing? If so, why not address the particular risk? Why eye their revenue when these companies are doing the following: 1. Making a difficult city a little more livab;e 2. Reducing the amount of vehicles on the road; and, 3. Thereby cutting down on carbon emissions and road wear outs. Its a stupid decision by LASG to compare London or NY regulation of ride hailing companies - In those locales, there are excellent alternatives with the black cab and the NY taxi service respectively. What is the alternative in Lagos? Is it those clapped out yellow cabs? LASG I hope you read this because you act like the mafioso - you squeeze every legitimate private business and yet derive your revenues and reputation from them at the same time - a clear case of spitting in your own well. Those lazy researchers (most of them fellow millennials with people on this page) who lift regulations verbatim from more developed climes are not doing you a service. How well are you regulating the danfo's and agberos by the way - how is that going? I am sorry for venting on your response my bro but this piece of news just makes me angry. 4 Likes |

I don’t understand why people reason this way. A brand new vehicle for a taxi?! In Nigeria ?!!...within three years of manufacture?!!! This makes almost no sense. If the operators/drivers can afford a brand new car or at least a vehicle within its first three years of manufacture, then almost nobody will be running cab business. 7 Likes |

I doubt there is a 2017 car that cost less than 3.5m especially with the current exchange rate. This seems more like a strategy to reduce the number of drivers on these apps. |
