*INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY: SENATOR DR. IFEANYI UBAH CALLS FOR GREATER PARTICIPATION OF THE YOUTHS IN POLITICS.*

International Youth Day is observed every year to showcase how the engagement of the younger generation in political processes drives narratives that serves to enhance the transparency of those political processes by combating democratic deficiencies.

It is a special day that seeks tp highlight and encourage the participation of youngsters, in evolving political potentials that trigger better and more sustainable policies.

The International Youth Day is commemorated yearly every 12th day of August.

The theme of this year's International Youth Day 2020, is ‘Youth Engagement for Global Action’.

It aims to highlight ways in which the participation of youngsters at the local, National and World stages play very vital roles in enhancing National and Multilateral institutions and processes as well re' engineering unfavourable developmental indices.

Senator Dr Ifeanyi Ubah who next month will clock 49 years of age, wishes to use this auspicious occasion to remind the youths that their destinies are in their hands and their potentials if properly maximised capable of bringing about a revolutional change in the political indices of the past years of Nigeria's democratic experience.

He called on them to seize the initiative by realising that they cannot keep being leaders of tomorrow indefinitely.

"Take note of the fact that the past leaders of the country were all in their late 20s and 30s when they came to power then and have since maintained their holds on power because majority of our youths today pay more attention to other distractive and mundane things other than the very political issues that shape their destinies "....He said

He concluded by calling for total paradigm shift in the way we think as youths by engendering enhanced interest in taking charge of our political destinies.
