1. El Rufia did not Ask NBA to invite him for a conference, they invited him on their own accord after reaching a decision.

Simple case. NBA invited, NBA uninvited and i do not think there was a clause stating that the action was done to spite that particular region and religion rather, that region and religion are the ones making it look so.

Why not just divide this contraption of a country and let everyone go their separate ways cos its clear there is no basis for this forced unity.
Even amongst so called professionals people cannot help but see things through the parochial lens of religion.

This right here is one reason why this country is still very far from making any sort of progress, allowing religious sentimentality and bias take preeminence over common sense.

If "learned" members of the society cannot call out ineptitude and corruption when they see those ills play out simply because the perpetrators are of the same ilk either politically, tribally or religion wise, then Nigeria is unfortunately doomed to continue on its path of retrogression and hopelessness.

It is not because it is NBA. What I am saying is that his reaction is very normal. He didn't solicit for the invitation. The NBA ,aware of his ideologies and charecters, willingly and unanimously invited him. Some people within the NBA were not happy with the invitation which influenced the withdrawal. He has all the reasons to defend his dignity by himself. My only problem is the people fighting for him. The NBA are not blameless. They are the direct cause of the problem for their disorganization and thoughtlessness.

What then is the reason for giving their platforms to politicians? Why not Retired Judges, Diplomats, Technocrats etc

In the first place did they seriously discuss among the working committee and a host of other members of the body before sending out invitations .l believe if they had done this first everything would have been thrashed thoroughly in house and decision made agreed on before sending out invitations.

For our legal practitioners to be behaving like this is worrisome. I for one would have preferred a situation where it is only the the legal arm of government at various levels that are sent invitations then Retired Judges,Diplomats,Technocrats,......etc as you said. Like you said they may have to cancel the conference .l hope they know that what their actions and inactions can do to the foundation of trust and confidence they have worked hard to earn at the local,national and international level.
