It is. But the amendment is of no effect to Islamic organizations. The structure of Islam aligns pretty well with the government.

History shows that so called regulations have been used as backdoor to prosecute vandettas against Christian organizations e.g Obazee introduction of regulations to particularly 'dethrone' Adeboye.

Bro, stop misinforming....

The supervision of NGOs and other entities is a useful tool in the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing.
NGOs can't be receiving funds without accounting for the source and purpose of such.

Former CAN PRESIDENT, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor was caught in South Africa with almost 10 million dollars in his private Jet not up to a decade ago. Though he claimed the money was meant for the purchase of arms for the Nigerian State, it is enough evidence that millions of dollars which are unrelated to the duties of churches and mosques ,as stipulated in their articles of assoiciation and constitutions, are dumped with these religious leaders for businesses they would have no duty with in an organized country.

Let's leave the issue of Churches since there are evidence of their money laundering schemes for public officials. The United States of America which leads the global fight against terrorism have opined that for a successful resistance against Islamic extremism and terrorism to be achieved, regimes in every continent of this planet must monitor finances and prevent terrorism sponsorship. To fight a monster, it is pertinent to target its head not tail. When there are no funds to propagate the terrorist ideology to the most rural enclaves or pay fighters to cause havoc, the enemies of this country will be subdued.

The board of the Corporate Affairs Commission are well represented both on tribal and religious lines. This law does not in anyway specify churches. It literally states "NGOs and Religious bodies."

This means if IRAN sends funds to Shite Muslims in Nigeria for any purpose but officially says it is for building of Mosques , roads construction or building of a world class hospital, the Government of Nigeria will ensure that the funds are used for those purposes and no money is channeled for arms purchase. If SAUDI ARABIA sends funds to an Islamic Humanitarian Organization in Yobe or Zamfara, this bill will give the Corporate Affairs Commission authority to demand annual bank statements of these Organizations and trace the expenditure of their funds.

Remember, it's a legislation and will remain same even when a Christian PRESIDENT is elected. Similar legislations have been enacted in most developed nations. Only those who negate the concept of accountability will be irritated by this relevant amendment.

Former CAN PRESIDENT, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor was caught in South Africa with almost 10 million dollars in his private Jet not up to a decade DO NOT EMBELLISH news. was he on that flight? he was not. that he hired the jet out to the government, a good deal of aviation in that country does same he did not know what the federal government wanted the jet for. The church is the only industry doing well now you want to shut it down by any means necessasy. It will never work. go tell your cohort it never will. shameless failed state!

An interesting article I just read:
Nigerian Church pastors, their luxury lifestyles and private jets (Photos)

Nigerian prosperity pastors have emerged among the wealthiest pastors in the world, but their luxury lifestyles are at wide variance with the level of poverty of most of their church members who struggle each day to find food to eat. Notwithstanding their level of poverty, they faithfully make donations to the churches hoping to receive blessings also called anointing from their millionaire pastors.

Fake news, not true. His jet was leased by the fed govt for official state assignment, which turned out to be arms purchase. Could have been any other leased jet. Besides, same is happening today under Buhari, don’t be deceived!

I support some govt oversight of churches, especially their finances. Churches are nonprofit organisations exempt from taxes. However, too often they have become wealth enterprises for pastors.

The aspect I disagree with, is the govts power to sack and appoint trusties. This is interference

All of u fanning the ambers of religious conflagration will surely be consumed by it. Religious activities the world over is regulated by the government in such a way that it remains secular. This idea in Nigeria that churches will be allowed operate without supervision by enabling authorities is insane. That's the reason why all the pastors of these mega churches are spending churches funds without questions, evading taxes from businesses operating outside the churches & neglecting their fundamental obligations. U wonder why all these churches are fined left & right in England & other parts of the world.

[I love your constructive position. As the CAMA bill appears good for clamping down on terrorist funds and sponsors, so also it appears suppressive to the churches by the clause which allows govt to appoint managers, remove board of trustees and WITHOUT RECOURSE TO THE COURT

That is where the danger lies, so a wicked administration can actually use it to gag any vocal or critical NGO against govt.
