Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of Aviation has apologised for insulting a journalist in Calabar, Cross River State capital, last week.

The apology of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP chieftain comes barely a day after he remained defiant, oiling his ego over the unfortunate outburst wherein he described the media practitioner as being very stupid.

A question by the journalist, Eyo Charles, attached to one of the national dailies, on who was bankrolling his tours across states of the federation necessitated the outburst. He had vowed yesterday not to apologise for his verbal attacks despite criticism that greeted it when a video clip of what transpired surfaced online.

But in a statement this morning, the former minister said he regretted using the word stupid and have withdrawn it after being advised to do so. He also denied sending one of his security aides to interrogate the journalist.

“I met with my advisors & I wish to say the following. I hereby withdraw the word “stupid” which I used in my encounter with a journalist in Calabar. I have many friends in the media who I offended by losing my cool & using such words. I hereby express my regrets for doing so,” the PDP chieftain said.

“I do however wish to state categorically that no threat of physical harm was ever made to the journalist in question and neither did I send anyone to threaten him. Anyone that says otherwise is lying and I challenge them to bring the proof.

“I would never seek to physically harm a journalist. For the last 30 years I have defended & worked with journalists & fought for the right of freedom of expression. I am also very close to many in that profession. I would be the last to seek to disparage those that are honorable and noble within its ranks.

“I hope that this will assuage the pain and anger of anyone that was hurt or offended by this ugly episode. I have now put this matter behind me and moved on. Now my tour of the South continues. Moving to another state today!” he added.

I cannot be held responsible for the safety of this rude young man because I do not know what he does or who else he may have insulted, robbed, cheated or offended.

I do not know whether he is a thief, a murderer, a rogue, a dumpster, a Yahoo boy or one of those morally bankrupt and shameful men that sleeps with other peoples wives. I do not know who may be after him if anyone at all and neither do I care. His present or future travails, if any, have absolutely nothing to do with me.


Well, how is that for an apology?

FTC dedicated to all the children of the world whose education is staggered by this pandemic ; and to parents who must keep struggling to make things happen.

Lol..he can shove the apology up his ass..Femi broke shamed the man asking him who's son he is and he kept shouting "do you know who I am?" If Femi of all people that critisizes people using violent and uncouth words can get annoyed by a simple question then fxck him. It means he doesn't really hate oppression he hates been the one oppressed... I hope the NUJ can see this and not invite him in the future cus he clearly disrespected them. He is mad

I want to see if he will still continue his unprovoked attacks on people whose ideology and views are different from his after he has shown us all that he can't take a pinch of his slanderous and libellous attacks on other people.

He is a selfish non altruistic and egoistic hypocrite, with no respect for freedom of expression which he himself has been abusing.

What baffles me is the fact that no PDP person has made a comment about this scandalous act of Femi, but if it was the other way round the media would have been agog with different barrage of insensitive comments and insult from the PDP folks.

I am also agazed with the fact that some dingbats here on NL are defending the shameful act.

Last night I decided to visit Righteousness 89 and I got late I decided to spend the night with at his place.
Brethren, this was is like to spend a night at a place.

9pm a roach flew by and hover on around:

11pm: a rat ran by twice,... Another 2 hours prayer session.

1am, a cat was chasing the rat in his ceiling; this was a battle, we prayed for 3hrs.

4am a Roaster crooked.

Another hour of prayer.
