And why would a Microbiologist want to work in the hospital or laboratory while he can become a manager in food industry and earn more than your Chief Medical Director?

The reasons people study courses that make them work in the hospital are:
1. the chances of getting a job faster than others
2. the deception that they are professionals by virtue of a license while others are not. That is the most illogical thing I have heard for years.

My boss made first class in Microbiology and he earns more than your state governor (without corruption). He is a top manager in a food industry.

How I wish any Biochemist/Microbiologist can synthesize industrial enzymes locally. He will become a billionaire in one year. I guarantee you.
Every MCB graduate cannot be your boss, in fact 90% of MCB graduates cannot be your boss.

Dangote doesn't have two heads, the poorest man in Africa doesn't have two heads, they have one head but one is rich the other is poor. Life is all about opportunities and taking them and what am trying to say it that, focussing on MCB certificate alone in this country can't give you opportunities. Except you look at other areas and find opportunities for yourself.

Yeah! Certificate is just an evidence that you can learn. After schooling you succeed based on your inherent potentials and grace. A first class or 2:1 will open door for job opportunities but what you do with those opportunities is what makes the difference.
It is just unfortunate that all these big companies can only employ few out of thousands of graduates.

Who are these few? What are they doing differently?

Don't allow anybody to deceive you that it is all about connection. Multinationals employ graduates on merit but the selection process is crazy.

Imagine 200 thousands graduates fighting for 4 positions:

Aptitude test alone will send 1950 of them home.
Interview/final assessment will send 46 people home.
Who are these fortunate 4 and what is special about them? If you solve this puzzle & apply it then you are qualified to be like them ( even better).

Do you know how many private hospitals that need laboratory workers?, and the ability to set up your own private lab...(self employed)... Just read your full comments. I know people who study medical microbiology that have their own laboratories functioning well

The only professionals licensed and certified to set up a private medical laboratories in Nigeria are Medical Laboratory Scientists. Within the profession, there are different specialisms such as Medical Microbiology, Haematology, Histopathology, Chemical Pathology, and several other sub-specialism such as Immunology, molecular biology, genetic diagnostics, clinical embryology, forensics, biomedical engineering etc as you go up the field.

Studying ordinary Medical micro, will not get you a job to run medical tests and sign clinical microbiology results.

Alright thanks man. Perhaps I was misinformed. Some people told me a med microbiologist/microbiologist needs the certificate of a MLS to set up a diagnostic, but not a research lab. You know how true this is?

Yes they are right, the guy here telling you about people who read a 4-year microbiology course and running private labs is aiding quackery if he is not reporting those labs to the authorities. Na fake 'staph' results dem dey generate for that lab.
