Tinubu Should Have Stood Up To Greet Ooni - Odumakin by 9Ebiscoo: 1:13pm On Sep 10, 2020
Activist, Yinka Odumakin, says All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Bola Tinubu, should have stood up to greet the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, at the coronation of the Oniru of Iruland, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal.

Odumakin, who is also the spokesman for the pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere, said this in an interview with The PUNCH on Wednesday while reacting to a viral picture showing Tinubu sitting down while the Ooni stands to greet him.

He said although monarchs no longer hold political power, it was important for traditional institutions to be respected especially by the Yoruba people.

As gathered by , the activist recalled that in 2016, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who is many years older than the monarch, bowed down to greet him.

Odumakin stated, “We are still Yoruba people. With due respect to our royal fathers, we should not say because we are in a modern age, we should not give the proper respect that we give to our oba.

“You saw the time former President Obasanjo prostrated before the Ooni.

“So, it is still our culture and we must sustain our culture and give the respect that is due to our monarchs.”

That's the more reason person of questionable characters must not be crowned to a throne as sensitive as a custodian of oodua

Why should the Ooni stand from his seat to go greet Tinubu? He had already humiliated the throne already by that act. So, let's not blame Tinubu for not standing up to greet him. If the Ooni knew the level of his throne, he should have sat back for Tinubu to come to him

Ooni didn't leave his seat to greet Tinubu, he was walking to the high Table and Tinubu was sitting close to his path.

It might actually be that Jagaban's mind wasn't even there, perhaps he never even thought of it.
Tinubu can never disrespect Ooni he greeted him the way he should when he visited his Palace.

These days anybody that wants to trend always think of starting a controversial discussion about Tinubu.

He is almost in the news more than Buhari in recent times.

People worry over nothing while the practical-minded Ooni himself continues to work for unity of Yoruba more than the noise-making pretenders.

Tinubu should have respected him.

Ooni is the most revered traditional in yorubaland followed by Alafin of Oyo (Iku baba Yeye) then Oba Of Benin before Awujale and the rest..

So he deserves the needed respect.

Even Alafin and oba of Bini respects and bows to him while will Tinubu not do same.

Moreover, Tinubu is meant to protect the throne not embarrass it.

Why waste precious time and space on this, people with normal brain should have known that traditional rulership have been subjected to politics, that was why Ganduje was able to remove Sanusi without consequences, making Everest mountain out molehill is completely work of the mischief makers always trying hard to be relevance when they are just like p in psychology,

Probably but that not withstanding, tinubu did stood up for the Oniru, so why not do the same to the Ooni?

Irrespective of what might have transpired between the tinubu and the Ooni, there's no reason whatsoever to belittle the Ooni, so publicly.

When people can't do you any harm because of your position they finally resort to idle gossip about you.
