Ratedgang:Why do you think the trucks ooze so much smoke? Why is it that you bring a brand new truck or generator into the country and in few months they are smoking? I will tell you as someone that has owned trucks. The DIESEL solds to us by same government is not diesel but a mixture of different chemicals. Just maybe 50% is diesel! From the depot it is further diluted to a lower percentage. Buy a modern truck with common rail injection system that is smokeless and moves like a car, I bet you it will not last 1 month before the fuel injection system fails! You then have to change your engine to a manual system ie non electronic that can burn our "diesel". The effect is therefore smoke. Same applies to diesel generators. |

Very on point. I would also like to point out the large amount on cattle dung that get dropped on Nigerian roads and stream banks that could cause disease spread from cholera and so on. |

Owners of faulty roads nko? If u must go to equity u go with clean hands. The government can not dodge responsibility by declaring their own part non actionable. |

Coming from an agency with plenty faulty vehicles and generators. I wonder how Nigerians will maintain the foreign standards this government seek when they don't have foreign standard purchasing power and opportunities |

Empty noise. They just want to be noticed. They're talking of smoke, what of the noise pollution from these generators which is the only source of power for most people? How many compliance officers do they have nationwide? As far as am concerned, Nigeria doesn't have operational safety and health standards other than the ones applicable to multinational companies due to 1. As a prerequisite for award of contracts, and 2. To protect the company's image and reputations internationally. If the country is ready for the business of compliance to health safety, and environment, many business outlets have to close down as a result of non-compliance. Example, when you allocate lands for fuel stations, you must ensure it remains isolated with an appreciable distance to other structures especially residential ones. |
