The cotton ball diet is the result of the pressure to be beyond slim.

Some models resort to dipping cotton balls in orange juice or other liquids such as smoothies, in an effort to feel full. The orange juice doesn’t serve any nutritional value; it simply makes the cotton easier to swallow.


The dangers of this horrendous diet is huge. If the diet is kept up, the body goes into starvation mode until eventually reaching the stage of malnutrition. Consuming cotton could be harmful to the esophagus and intestinal tract too. Constipation is very likely, and to reverse that with laxatives is harmful for an already weak body.

I understand how severe the pressure may be, the need to attain the ‘perfect’ body image, and the fear of gaining weight, but this could lead you down a horrible path of eating disorders and mental illnesses.

Please seek professional help if you are engaging in this eating behaviour.
