That if Buhari doesn't make that much anticipated visit to the great beyond, that the VP would tender his resignation first thing in the morning in order to preserve his name, and discredit this admin that has caused so much harm to the people.

Over 24 hours later, we hear nothing from the President, he isn't dead or alive, and the VP sends consolatory tweets.

Re: Osinbajo Promises Justice For Lekki Shooting Victims, Others by Asifiwe(m): 3:07am On Oct 22, 2020
There can be no Truce between the Nigerian government and the oppressed citizens, The Older Generation have stunted the growth of the Nation and were busy looting the resources meant to develop the Nation. The Burning of TVC and National newspaper belonging to Asiwaju ahmed Bola Tinubu is a typical example of what leadership should expect when they stael from the masses to build sky crappers atop hills, Unfortunately the Northern Youth are at home with their oppressor, they jolly well with their own oppressors unlike the Youths in the South who are educated and are currents with events and happenings around them.
Imagine if all the money stolen from the government coffers were well utilized to ease the burden of the masses, The people will feel a sense of belonging.
The corrupts in the society are known and they can be traced in this day and age, There is actually no hiding place for the wicked, who would ever imagine that Bola tinubu that uses Touts to carry out his Political relevance will be hunted by the same Touts as the media wants us to believe ?
No, these are not touts, these are Nigerians who have bottled up a long time anger against their thieving politicians. So well did the Yoruba deal with their criminals the only difference is that the Igbo People went for the destruction of the Police station alone, while the Yoruba brun down the houses and properties of their oppressors
It is a wind, It will blow across
I don't see this ending soon because the Nigerian Police are still not trained and are not civilized in handling citizens with respect, when the masses put themselves together, they will deal decisively with the Police
The Northern Part of the country is unscathed by the violence that erupted in the southern part of the British establishment which they want us to regard as Nigeria. This forced Marriage is not likely to work. I guarantee you this thing called Nigeria is a sinking ship, The older generation may have pretended to keep it together all these years by the use of Force employed by the North, But these newer Generation are not going to buy into such foolishness of keeping a false marriage together
Nigeria is not a country where anyone is proud to be associated with, because of the injustice, You will hardly find a patriotic Nigerian, go where you may all across Nigeria, Patriotism is a mere preteen and a lie. Injustice is real and has been the bane of the Nigerian society since the civil war
People are being forced along by the Guns, the military gun, The Igbo wants to exit Nigeria, The Yoruba or Oodua wants to exit Nigeria. You ask why? It is a Forced marriage by the colonial masters
It was so design to Fail

Even in East Africa, In the early 1960s, around the time Kenya, Tanganyika, Uganda and  Zanzibar were gaining independence from the United Kingdom, the political leaders of the four nations had become interested in forming a federation. Julius Nyerere even offered in 1960 to delay the imminent independence of Tanganyika (due in 1961) in order for all of the East African territories to achieve independence together as a federation.
In June 1963, Kenyan Prime Minister Jomo Kenyattamet with the Tanganyikan President Julius Nyerere and Ugandan President Milton Obote in Nairobi. The trio discussed the possibility of merging their three nations (plus Zanzibar) into a single East African Federation, declaring that this would be accomplished by the end of the year. Subsequently, discussions on the planning for such a union were initiated.
Privately, Kenyatta was more reluctant regarding the arrangement and as 1964 came around the federation had not come to pass. In May 1964, Kenyatta rejected a back-benchers resolution calling for speedier federation. He publicly stated that talk of a federation had always been a ruse to hasten the pace of Kenyan independence from Britain, but Nyerere denied the veracity of this statement. Around the same time, Obote came out against an East African Federation, instead supporting pan-African unity, partly because of domestic political pressures with the semi-autonomous kingdom of Buganda’s opposition to being in an East African federation as part of Uganda but rather as a unit in its own right.
But the negotiators of the Nigerian states were too eager to break free from colonial masters and they never saw the future which has kept the country on hold for over 60 Years without development
They accepted without Negotiation the Amalgamation of 1914 Which was the colonial masters design to have an easy administration of the Northern and southern protectorates. This problem if unresolved will continue to hunt or rather halt the development of the Nation
One section of the country have systematically over a period of years dominated the Political life of the rest of the country and this section which is the North are lacking in Education and clueless about development, although they work with southerner who are also selfish and greedy
Over time, the North using the military might have taken over all the structures of the other region have assigned Police to the south to prevent a Public outrage
They did this during the reign of the evil Genus Babangida and the short space tyranny of the current dictator in the early 80s
They hoped the same system will work with the new generation. You can tell that the evil men who stunted the development of the nation are still very much around, though most of them are getting old and dying, Yet they are confused on how to pass the dictatorial reign over to their children as more and more Youths are getting awoken and wiser
Leadership in a Protest is very essential and the successful protest of 2020, shows that the Youth are ready to take charge of Leadership
There is need for a Leader to stem the tide
A perfect example is the events in Sudan, If you study the history of Sudan, it is similar to what is currently happening In Nigeria.
The North dominated the South of Sudan and were preventing development for so long, The resources of the Nation is situated in the south
Sudan gained independence in 1955 a year after the war Broke out, the war lasted till 1983, and in 1984 they had a truce and a negotiation, The Northern Sudan broke the agreement and at that time, John Garang was travelling around the globe and educating the entire developed Nation on the Happening in Sudan, John Garang was in Nigeria in the 80s but when he saw that the North of Nigeria have the same mentality as the North of Sudan, He moved most of his negociation to East Africa, consulting with Pan Africanist Like Jomo Kenyata and Julius Nyerere, In 2011 South Sudan became a country, They broke away from the Northern Sudan. It did not come without war
John Garang who is from south Sudan had lived in the Northern Sudan, studied in the US, had a Phd in Agriculture at Iowa University USA. He was fully aware that the mindset of the North is totally opposed to civilized development. Till today, He has been proven right. The North of Sudan has not develpoped a bit after the separation

In the same vein, the North of Nigeria had an opportunity to be helped But they have used arrogance to resist all form of help offered, They opposed Education offered by Awolowo, They opposed a better Leadership, all of these were the cause of the Civil war of 1967 and the country has been stunted because of one region
The agitation in this protest is not new, it is an agitation for Justice and development, The Nigerian Police were not Trained, they were not given a new orientation after the exit of colonial masters, the only training they had was the oppressive training of the colonizer, That is why a Police man thinks it is alright to beat up a suspect, or Point the gun to a suspect as they often do. Sometimes they are rude and they use fowl language to address citizens who pay their salaries
No where in the world will the abuse of a Police man acceptable But since the Northern subjugators are not educated, they forced the tyranny of the British masters on us and have opposed development
They enlist all the illiterates in the North into the Army and the Police, and give a handful quota to the south which they later post to the North but are like toothless bulldogs in the North

Yes Tinubu is a politician but the problem right now is govt.
There is an agenda to take Nigeria over using the north. Buhari might even be out of "sight"
Go and look at all the the appointment in all the ministries and parastatals.
All are notherners about 98% are northerners.
All the properties burnt are supposedly owned by Tinubu and u are here shouting against Tinubu. Will Tinubu burn his own properties?
How come all media publication, houses , hotels, tollgate supposedly owned by Tinubu were torched but dangote refinery was left.
How come Tinubu is in the same ruling party but also in the opposition.
See Tinubu is the only check and balance against the powers of govt against the Southwest whether pdp or apc or whatever. I don't like him but
You need money to fight battles and if Tinubu is gone they will run Southwest over like they have run other eastern states of which Wike is the only opposition trying to curb it.

I feel your pain. I also feel your intelligence. Thanks for that lucid write-up.

Openbusiness:
sad Bad or failed leadership from the wicked Buhari regime caused all these problems. Even during the time of Abacha, even when MKO was killed, even when Simbiat was assassinated, even when Funsho Williams was murdered in Dolphin Ikoyi, and all the other major political crisis in Lagos history, it never ever degenerated to this point, degenerated too badly that Oba of Lagos palace was desecrated by angry youths....none of these unfortunate things has ever happened before in the entire history of Lagos State. Lagos State has never ever witness civil unrest and anarchy on a large scale to this extent of public destructions before. What triggered it? They sent soldiers to shoot and kill umarmed peaceful protesters at Lekki phase 1 toll gate.

There was so much tension in the country already, mass poverty coupled with many anti-people government policies that have driven up prices of commodities and costs of living, so much Government insensitivity. People are yet to recover from COVID economic recession, you start slamming Nigerians with one tax after another, one tariff after another, fuel price up, VAT up, NEPA up, dollar up, one crazy tax after another, one crazy bill after another. The masses are already frustrated and the frustration was already at boiling point. Yet Buhari regime doesn't care, he is not bothered. Nigerians can go to hell, that's not his business.

Ok, no problem, the people still managed to continue their lives, but it got to a point they said enough is enough for police brutality, torture, maiming and extrajudicial killings. It was not exaggeration. It was reality. There were countless cases of extreme human rights violations and murders, without justice being served on the police killers and offenders. This was the main cause of the protests at the initial stages, protesters were loud, they were angry but they were civil, they were orderly and they were unarmed. It was peaceful. Protesting peacefully was their aim to voice out their displeasure and anger to government, to press for critical changes in the system, to ask for justice for the murdered and oppressed.

Buhari said he acknowledged the civic rights of the protesters to protest peacefully. Very very good. So what happened, where did the commotion come from? The peaceful protesters suddenly were getting attacked and killed by thugs and criminals, obviously hired by government to intimidate the protesters to stop protesting. Very very STUPID move. You have a spontaneous protests, across the country, with no clear leadership, that should tell you the equation is very volatile, any wrong move and things could descend into widespread anarchy and chaos.

Still despite the provocations, the peaceful protesters continue protesting peacefully until the shadow attacks from hired criminals became unbearable and they started to defend themselves. Anarchy loading, but at this stage it has not gone totally out of control yet. The government still had the opportunity to calm things down. But NO, Buhari regime had to escalate the tensions, had to spoil everything. How? Armed soldiers went to shoot unarmed peaceful protesters at Lekki yesterday night and that was when everything scattered. Why would they shoot to kill unarmed peaceful protesters that the president himself said had the rights to protest peacefully? If it was completely necessary for them to disperse the crowd, why didn't they use tear gas? Why didn't they use tasers? Why didn't they use water cannons or use batons or even pepper spray to disperse the crowd? There were so many options they had to resolve that situation without murder, without killings BUT they chose to KILL. Why? These youths are citizens for God's sake. Some of them even voted for this same Buhari to get power. Some of them even protested peacefully for Buhari's sake during GEJ govt, and yet this is how Buhari regime pays them back, with live bullets fired at them? No, it is totally wrong, condemnable, unacceptable and unjustifiable.

None of the chaos we are witnessing today across the country will have happened if the government had been more sincere and sensitive. I mean for God's sake even during military era, as brutal as they were, it never got to this point, they still had some limits they won't cross.

This is the reason why I blame Buhari regime for this, if they had shown sense, maturity and sensitivity, the whole crisis of the peaceful protests could have been managed well and turned around in their favor. For example, if I were the President and this protests crisis broke out and the youths made their demands for change, very reasonable demands. I will have addressed them, given them assurances, beyond words, I will have taken some quick actions to show my sincerity and solidarity to their cause. I will not only have ordered the IGP to disband the police units accused of gross human rights abuses and violations, I would have asked that the officers already proven to be offenders face orderly trial immediately, while further investigation continues for other offenders. If the protesters still insisted on continuing their peaceful protests, I will have allowed them to continue.

Then when the protesters claim and provide proof that they are being attacked by criminals as they are peacefully protesting, I would have deployed riot squad and other security teams to the protesting zones and areas to provide security for the peaceful protesters. All these actions will make them see and know that truly the govt is on their side and is sincere about making change, about addressing their concerns, that the govt is sensitive to their cries.

By the time they protest peacefully and roam about for maybe 2 or 3 weeks or even 1 month, their anger would be lesser and they will become more predisposed to come to the dialogue table with govt and discuss a holistic way forward together and brainstorm about the ideas that will work to make society a safer place for the youths and citizens. During those weeks they are allowed to peacefully protest with security protecting them and guaranteeing their safety, the worst that could happen is the inconveniences of traffic blockage, or obstruction by the large number of protesters on the road and streets. Alternative temporary detours can be used, and they can still appeal to them during their march to give way whenever traffic stands still. It is better people suffer traffic and hold up for peace to reign than for society to descend into mass anarchy, chaos and killings. People already experience heavy traffic from time to time, it is not a strange phenomena in our society. How many times have they shutdown major highways and roads for months in Lagos, as unbearable as the traffic was, sometimes hours and hours in heavy traffic, people still managed and all was well eventually.

That's how the situation would have been well managed, no bloodshed, no torture, no murders. At the end of the day, I will have succeeded in winning over the protesters and youths and they will respect and believe in their govt more. Problem solved!

But NO, NO, NO, they just had to choose the way of brutality and killing. It is either this Buhari regime is just too DAFT or they enjoy killing citizens.
