Narrated 'Aisha: The Prophet and I used to take a bath from a single pot while we were Junub. During the menses, he used to order me to put on an Izar (dress worn below the waist) and used to handle me . While in Itikaf, he used to bring his head near me and I would wash it while I used to be in my periods (menses).

If the claim is about how fresh water rivers are never over run by the salty oceans/seas and vise versa. You need to understand how the oceans are salty in the first place.

Rain fells to the Earth and ran over the land, breaks up rocks and transports minerals/salt to the ocean.
The ocean evaporates and becomes rain and falls as freshwater.
Rain replenishes freshwater in rivers and streams, so they don’t taste salty. However, the water in the ocean collects all of the salt and minerals from all of the rivers that flow into it.

The salt water oceans don't overrun the rivers, because it is the freshwater rivers that flow from usually higher elevations and discharge into the oceans.
Do note that rising sea levels pose the risk of causing backflow from the oceans and increasing the salinity of rivers downstream, possibly turning some deltas into salty marshes.
