The regions were dissolved and the capitals lost their former status. Kaduna,Ibadan and Benin city suffered the same fate. Only the FCT Lagos which remained the Centre of governance continued flourishing at its former pace.

I disagree with abuja in the mention...

All thanks to babangida who moved the seat of power to that town know as city today.

With what I'm seeing here Enugu should have been cosmopolitan like lagos owing to its advantages in been the capital of the old region but it doesn't just fit well.. Something is wrong somewhere

What i am seeing is a country built on the wrong foundation.

Is lagos really cosmopolitan? We need to tell ourselves the truth we do not have a single cosmopolitan city in Nigeria

I am looking for a countries with similar multi composition like Nigeria and runs a unitary system of govt, that has developed into first world country..

If you know, kindly point out to me, would like to study the countries.

Split Nigeria into six nations and save the lives of our future generations. If we dont do this now, our future generations may fight brutal and deadly war!

British are aware of this and the UK runs a confederation based system of govt and still allow the confederations to vote if they still wants to be part of the confederation!

There is a way the Europeans managed to develop: the Europeans understood the dangers of fussing multi ethnic nations into unitary political structure with absolute and semi absolute powers, they instead, went for the creation of sovereign nations across Europe. According to research, nations tend to do well than states. Sovereign states with unitary political systems are worse hit!

Nigeria, a country with high number of educated people should, as a matter of urgency, dissolve this map created by the greedy British colonial masters.

How we still allowed the British empire to determine our existence beat my imagination!

If we had stocked to the system the British left us with, things would be better ... we scattered everything when we turned to a unitary system of government...
Regionalism would have been really sweet for nigeria ... competition and innovation ... even d north for develop cos south would have left them behind if they did not

This was 1950s and 1960. The cosmopolitan nature of Enugu during these times were deliberately killed by the systems enthroned later on. This is one of the reasons why many people want to revert.

This country desperately need to be restructured. This is the evidence of regional government then. Every state in Nigeria must become fully independent with their constitutions while the federal Constitution reworked to make Abuja a ceremonial capital without any thing called NASS!

If for a place to look nice, it must be a capital, then something is definitely wrong in the country,

I'm America, Canada and Australia, the country's capital cities aren't the commercial capitals. In America's case, I doubt Washington DC ranks amongst the top 10 cities.

The same goes with state capitals. Albany, the capital of New York state is nothing compared to New York city. Im sure you've never heard of Albany.

California's capital Sacramento, is a midget compared to Los Angeles. I doubt Sacramento comes top 10 in California's biggest cities.

This just shows Nigeria's propensity for corruption, rent seeking and government spending in picking winners rather than the private sector.
you are so much correct, in Nigeria, we rate capitals to be more developed, urbanised, populated, and whatever...

I have gone through the whole report rules and I can't find a rule broken to use in reporting this wicked statement. I did not find any.

Till today, more than half of the south easterners still want to go on their own so they can decide their fate instead of privilege to rule them gotten through irregularities, number manipulations and enormous lack of merit. We are not allowed to discuss break away because it exposes our differences so much that it hurt. Imagine how it will be for Nigeria to carry out referendum. People will marvel at the outcome because more people are becoming fed up daily.

Let's continue to pray and act.
