OPEN LETTER TO NIGERIAN YOUTHS.
Date; 02/11/2020
From Prince Erondu Uche PEU

Dear Nigerian youths,

I congratulate you on your triumph over ethnic bias and coming together with one indivisible voice to speak against injustice and police brutality in Nigeria.

I condemn in its totality the destruction of lives and properties which characterized the later part of the protest. The killing of innocent youths at Lekki, Lagos and other parts of Nigeria including policemen was uncalled for. Those behind the killing of the innocent will not escape the wroth of God in this life and in the afterlife. I therefore advice all youths to shun all activities that will hinder our quest for a better society. I also wish to advice those who sponsor violence and preach tribal sentiment to desist from this outdated manipulation because our youths are wiser now.

HOLD POLITICAL LEADERS ACCOUNTABLE NOW.
The same way you genuinely and peaceful seek for justice against police brutality in Nigeria, is the same way in our different states, local governments and constituencies the youths should hold all past and present political leaders at all levels accountable now. As we demand for justice and good governance, let us start from our immediate environments and states. Those we voted into power must account for us now. These include Governors, Senators, Federal House of Representative members, State House of Assembly members, Local Government Chairpersons and Councilors. Others include all Political Officeholders like Ministers, Ambassadors, Commissioners, Special Assistances and others not missing anyone at all levels. Others to hold accountable on moral grounds are Career people who have risen to reasonable heights without making positive impacts on their people like Permanent Secretaries etc, after all most of them were considered for high positions to favour their people.

It is unjust to heap all blames on President Mohhamadu Buhari. I condemn the looting of warehouses where covid '19 palliatives were kept, you don't correct evil with evil. Nigerian Governors should explain to the world what the palliatives were doing in those stores months after the lockdown. During the lockdown, the number of people killed by hunger and those who were jailed because they stole as result of hunger were not reported. It is high time we hold each leader accountable for his or her did.

Our Governors should explain to us what they do with heavy security votes that run into several millions given to them on monthly basis. Are these monies meant to secure our states or pocket money for them? If for security purposes, which state is secured in Nigeria? Is security votes justified in our States? Why do we still have insurgency, banditry, kidnapping in our different states? Leaders at all levels who fail should be recalled or asked to resign now.

The best way to tackle insecurity in Nigeria is prevention. Nigerian insecurity is mostly caused by poverty as a result of high rate of unemployment and the best way to fight it is to create jobs. Some states receive above 800 Million Naira every 30 days. 800 Million naira can build a minimum of 4 large factories that will employ thousands of our youths. Imagine how our States and Country would be if our Governors build 4 factories every month with the security votes of each state, 48 factories every year and about 192 factories every four years. Our federal lawmakers should give account of constituency projects meant to develop their areas.
If this is done, Nigeria will be safe for all and our youths will not be dying on the Mediterranean sea in search of better lives.

END TO POLITICAL MISCHIEF
"Youths who are leaders today are those who reject Africa's slogan of deceit which says that youths are the leaders of tomorrow. They replace endless tomorrow with today". Youths should take over the leadership of this nation if we intend to develop. This generation of leaders have failed us as most of them confess now. However, the good and patriotic among them would play adversary role.

The time to end praise singing of these recycled politicians who have deprived us of good life is now. The time to end political thuggery, vote buying/selling, support for old men in politics etc is now. We should say no to politicians and political parties who have no ideologies. We should go beyond "I will give you water, good roads and electricity". We should compete with other nations of the world.

THE BEGINNING OF A NEW ERA
Almost all our past and present political leaders became top leaders at their twenties and thirties. Let us appeal to them all to retire now and hand over to the youths. Nigerian youths have all it takes to salvage this country.

Finally, in the spirit of Justice, fairness and equity which Nigerian youths represent, I urge you to support and ensure that Igbo becomes the next President in 2023.

Accept the assurance of my warmth regards.

Yours in the same struggle for
A better Nigeria.

Prince Erondu Uche. PEU.
