5 Reasons Why The International Community Does Not See IPOB As A Terrorist Group by gidgiddy: 10:31pm On Nov 11, 2020
The international definition of a terrorist organisation is a group that uses "organized violence" to achieve a goal which is usually political, but could be economic or even religious. Violence is further defined as an unlawful action intended to hurt, damage or kill a person

When IPOB was procribed and declared a terrorist group in 2017, the American government, the EU and Ohanaeze all said that they dont see IPOB as a terrorist organisation and that position has not changed. So why does the international community not see IPOB as terrorists? Here are 5 reasons

1)Before the international community even begins to consider a group to be a terrorist organisation, that group must be seen to be armed. By arms, I dont mean sticks or machete, but weapons of mass destruction such as guns and bombs. We have all seen videos and pictures of Shekau and his men armed. I have seen herdsmen and their AK47, many of us have seen pictures or videos of them. How many people can say they have ever seen one single picture or video of a verified IPOB member with a gun? Probably none. We only hear that IPOB is armed because they authorities say they are. How can a group be armed but the general populace have never seen this except the same authorities making the claim? You can see something is not right here

2)When it is established that a group is armed, the group must now be seen to use the arms against people. We have all seen pictures of the victims of Boko and herdsmen. We have heard witness testimonies. Has anyone actually seen anyone IPOB is alleged to have killed? Can anyone say that they have seen pictures or videos of those IPOB killed? (Note: There was an incident at the home of Igbos Lawyer last year but the case is in court and cannot be commented on). All we have are claims by the authorities that IPOB killed leople, but no proof.

3) In other to be regarded as a terrorist group, the group must be terrorising someone. Who exactly is IPOB terrorising? How many communities in Nigeria can say they are terrified of IPOB? In the South East and South South where IPOB is more prevalent, no community has come out to say that IPOB is terrorising them. So you then wonder how a group nobody is terrified of can be a terrorists organisation?

4) Has anyone noticed that all incidents of violence attributed to IPOB always has something to do with the security forces? It is always about IPOB clashing with Police, Army or DSS. This is a clear indication to the international community that IPOB isnt a terrorist group. The reason is that terrorist groups usually attack soft targets such as civilians, communities and public institutions where they can cause maximum havoc and terror. Terrorist groups rarely go out to confront the armed forces as this is far more dangerous and will have less impact on the terror they wish to spread. So if the problem of IPOB revolves around just the Police and Army, coupled with  the fact that the Nigerian Police and Army dont have a good reputation due to their unprofessional and brutal ways, the international community is more likely to see the Police and Army as the cause of the violence with IPOB.

5) Before IPOB was proscribed in 2017, there had been numerous documented cases of the security forces shooting and killing them even though they were unarmed. Amnesty International released a white paper accusing the Nigerian Army of killing 150 unarmed IPOB protesters. There are numerous videos and pictures online of IPOB members killed by the security forces. In one video still on YouTube, the Nigerian Army goes into  school in Aba, where IPOB members are singing and dancing, and open fire on them with no provocation. Sympathy has already swung in Igbos direction that they are the ones being killed and oppressed and that the government the government of Nigeria an unproven terrorist claim to cover its attrocities against the group as well as suppress it.

In September 2017, the Federal Government approached a High Court in Abuja seeking to proscribe the Indigenous People Of Biafra(IPOB) as a terrorist organisation. They tendered some evidence against the group and their wish was granted. Shortly after IPOB was procribed, the American government, the EU and the apex socio- political organisation of Igbos, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, all came out to state that they do not see IPOB as a terrorist group, and that position has not changed. Before Coronavirus hit early this year, IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu was seen travelling to several countries such as America, Canada, Japan, Germany and Israel with problem at all, a clear indication that those countries have no problem with him.  IPOB is still allowed to freely demonstrate in most countries. So why doesnt the international community see IPOB as a terrorist group despite the government of Nigeria saying they are? The answer is in the fact that terrorism is such a serious issue that the international community has a high bar what a terrorist group is. Unfortunately, Nigeria is one those countries who are not serious about terrorism and thats why they have set a low bar for it. An example of this is a situation where killer herdsmen, long designated the 4th most dangerous terrorist group by the international community, who are killing thousands of Nigerians every year, raping women, destroying lives and property, are not declared terrorists. But IPOB who haven't done 1% of what they did are the ones declared terrorists.

Carry your peaceful activities only to the international community then sad
In fact you can start killing their soldiers,DSS,police etc or looking for Hausa-Fulani there to attack or burning down mosques.
Don't worry, they will only take you serious when you guys carry atomic bomb.

Is a magazine an international community
Even foreigners were cautious enough to use the phrase "Fulani militants" and not Fulani herdsmen which is the occupation of millions of people.
I mean from the US government,EU,UN,NATO and so on,which such international body has declared it a terrorist group?

Because you and the evil people who hated Igbo people had worked overtime to keep the true story coming out to the notice of the international community.
That's why I dont comment on fg prosecuting Endsars protesters. Everyone keeps quiet when an unarmed group were tagged terrorist and even chaired the government for killing them.
The evil you all support will get to each and everyone of you in the future.

Because the accusations levelled against ipob seems to be just mere accusations without evidence. Even wike himself does not have evidence, the security agents does not have evidence either. It just looks like an excuse to kill innocent people.
