Nigerian Police Launches Cybercrime Reporting Portal by prof2007: 10:45am On Nov 22, 2020
In an effort to curb the rate of cybercrime in the country the Nigerian Police has launched a cybercrime reporting portal. The Police said the portal “ensures ease of crime reportage by the public, to enable prompt investigation, arrest, and prosecute perpetrators of cybercrime & other related offences.”

This was disclosed by the Nigerian Police in a statement on Thursday. The Police said the portal would enable anyone to report an alleged cybercrime at any time in the world, which would be attended by the Cybercrime unit in partnership with INTERPOL

“Complainants can now report cases of cybercrime online, at any time and from any part of the world. Cases are promptly attended to by the Cybercrime Unit of the Force domiciled with the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB); Force Headquarters, Abuja; and the newly created Cybercrime Unit at the INTERPOL Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos.

“The Force urges potential users of the portal to ensure that only correct and accurate information, devoid of deliberate falsehood, misrepresentation, and misinformation, are provided when filing their complaints.”

The portal to report cases of cybercrime is: https://incb.police.gov.ng

Oga olopa leave cybercrime alone ,that isn't the problem of Nigeria.

Nigeria's woes is tied to poor leadership ,police corruption and injustice, bad governance, these are the problem of Nigeria. If these vices are taken care of, cybercrime will fizzle out on its own

What is EFCC's job?

Police that failed to secure our highways,

Police that ended up killing innocent Nigerians,

The same police that was harvesting human organs from victims.

Now they want to go cyber.

You dey mind the idiots? 12 policemen were kidnapped the other day and their families had to pay ransoms to secure their release. Policemen! Not to talk of ordinary Nigerians at the mercy of kidnappers and bandits daily across the federation, and then armed robbers and others terrorising law abiding citizens everywhere. The police hasn't bothered to find a solution to this monstrous problem. They are more interested in the 'easy', less risky, soft, and 'lucrative' business of cybercrime.

I swear Nigeria is a joke.

Why not launch a DNA database?? undecided

This is more like carrying out an operation not meant for you while yours still awaits you.

You are one of the problem of the Nigerian youths. How can you see a move to stop crime and you are downplaying it? When you were growing up, were you taught that stealing is right?

bro no one is justifying crime. But however, we should learn to handle issues that is of most important to national development and stop chasing shadows.

If cybercrime is tackled to a halt, how has that improved the life of the common Nigerian in the street? How has that giving us a just and upright police force? How has that added to our national creed of power? How has that created a level playing ground for all graduate in their various walk of life? How has that stop the monumental looting of our national resources by polithievecians ,how will that end police extortion and bribery?

The list are numerous. In philosophy there is what is called "causality" that is 'cause and effect'.this move is like treating a symptom without identifying the root cause.

Let them stop their bribery, extortion ,corruption and injustice holding sway within the rank and file of the force, then we can know where to start from. But for now, cybercrime isn't the problem deviling our nation

You must have been long in this earth and in this life to understand that no crime can be tackled to a halt. A good police system has different sections and each section works hard to make a difference in its specialization. So you can't tell me that if you get employed in the cyber crime department of the police and choose to make a difference, you should be mocked because the country doesn't need that now. Should we all wait till Nigerians revert away from making cashless transactions before a step is taken?

It's the primary duty of the Police to prevent and detect crimes. Cyber crime is also a crime.

It's like saying RRS shouldn't arrest Kidnappers because they are not the Anti-kidnapping unit.
