You cant be completely free from sin...you can only keep washing you mind with the holy water...the word of God.
as long as the devil exist he will keep trying to poison you mind with alot of things...but the word of God will keep helping you out from temptation. .
its also a way that God keeps checking you believe and faith in him...
He brings problems like he did while Israelites where in the bush...they failed and the lack of faith in God to overcome the problem killed them...
because Gods word has a thing for unbelief. ..

The sin you keep repeating, is it a sexual sin? Like masturbation, fornication, porn, if it is, just know that a sexual demon is behind your addiction. Pray against that succubus demon or go for deliverance.

My Brother the Whole Bible is the Word of GOD.
There is no special place to read to hear God speak to you!
The Word of God says " you will seek me and Find me when you search for me with all of your Heart "

You could start with Psalms or Matthew!
Let it not be a one off stuff! Make it a daily move!
At least 3-5 Chapters Everyday.
Don't give sleep to your Eyes until it is done.
As it becomes a habit, you will see that there are habits that you no longer have the urge for..

As you begin to grow spiritually, you begin to have some spiritual exercises like fasting laced with Prayers ..
Fasting Laced with Prayers is also a Spirtual Booster!

This is exactly the trick the enemy uses...condemnation(as a result of the consciousness of sin) but guess what? God's got it all sorted out. Hallelujah. There's a reason Jesus Christ said to Nicodemus in John 3:7

7 Marvel not [do not be surprised, astonished] at My telling you, You must all be born anew (from above).

This is because, man born the natural way cannot by himself do what's right because sin is in his DNA. Its the reason the Apostle Paul, after describing same situation as OP mentioned in Rom7:15-End, went on to the next chapter in Rom8:1(you may read to the end) to describe the life of the Man, who is born anew, as the Master, our Lord Jesus stated earlier. He says;

Therefore, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death.

3 For God has done what the Law could not do, [its power] being weakened by the flesh [the entire nature of man without the Holy Spirit]. Sending His own Son in the guise of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, [God] condemned sin in the flesh [subdued, overcame, deprived it of its power over all who accept that sacrifice],

Now, these three verses hit the point. The man who is born anew in Christ has a new DNA. He is no longer homosapien. I like to call him "HomoGod", that is one with God. HE NO LONGER LIVES BY THE FLESH(Natural life) BUT BY THE SPIRIT(From his spirit). This means he is not subject to and doesn't reason or comprehend things from the natural/feeling(whether good or bad, right or wrong, convenient or inconvenient, well or unwell etc) point of view. Afterall, a spirit doesn't have natural feelings. That's why the latter part of the first verse of Romans 8 describes him as living(controlled) by the dictates of the Spirit. This is because, The Holy Spirit of God now lives in him.

All of the above works on the fundamental but simple principle of the christian "FAITH", which confers automatic everlasting/eternal/ GOD KIND OF LIFE on the one, who "simply" innocently BELIEVES in his heart and CONFESSES with his mouth, that THE LORD JESUS CHRIST is Lord over his life. John 3:16. The believing guarantees the "Righteousness of God(God's power and ability to be right or the rightness of God", into that fellow's account. Therefore, that fellow doesn't need to feel right to be righteous. He is righteous because God's Righteousness/Correctness not what man/society says is right, is in his account. The confession part is what a lot of christians like the OP need to cultivate.

The bible says, with the heart, man BELIEVETH UNTO RIGHTEOUSNESS, and with the mouth, CONFESSION IS MADE UNTO SALVATION. See how it is stated in Rom10:10;

10 For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation.

This means, you're already righteous when you believed in Jesus Christ from/with your heart but your voice should also speak out to affirm/confirm your salvation(that you are saved). In other words, say the same thing God has just said about you. Declare you're righteous. Stop calling yourself a sinner.

In other words, don't allow the enemy to keep tricking you with condemnation. Keep confessing and declaring that like Abraham, you have believed God and righteousness has been transferred to your account. You didn't and don't have to work for it, lest any man should boast. It is a gift. Do this long enough and that besetting sin will not have the audacity to hang around you any longer.

This is so that your subconscious is saturated with righteousness consciousness as against sin consciousness,(enemy's trick responsible for repetitive sins). You'll reach a point, where you're so full and conscious of righteousness that you'll know as the Word puts it in 1John 5:13 with SETTLED AND ABSOLUTE KNOWLEDGE, that you already have eternal(incorruptible, endless, God kind of) life as quoted below;

13 I write this to you who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) the name of the Son of God [in the peculiar services and blessings conferred by Him on men], so that you may know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that you [already] have life, yes, eternal life.

This is something you should have known from the start, by the way. At that point, you'll realise the truth in the scriptures below;

1John 5:18
18 We know [absolutely] that anyone born of God does not [deliberately and knowingly] practice committing sin, but the One Who was begotten of God carefully watches over and protects him [Christ’s divine presence within him preserves him against the evil], and the wicked one does not lay hold (get a grip) on him or touch [him].

1John 3:9
9 No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, for God’s nature abides in him [His principle of life, the divine sperm, remains permanently within him]; and he cannot practice sinning [/b]because he is born (begotten) of God.

Now, that's the reason the Master said as quoted earlier; John3:7 Marvel not [do not be surprised, astonished] at My telling you, [b]You must all be born anew (from above).

It is good that you know you sin and I hope you do ask for forgiveness but it will be much better to stop sin. It will take determination and your willingness to submit to the person of Christ. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing the word of God. Study the word of God the more and pray unto God.

Grace alone can make you free from sin
My friend, grace does not mean that God has gone soft on sin.
He is not looking down from heaven, shaking his head and saying, “Boys will
be boys!” He is not saying, “Never mind,

He has to punish sin, every single sin. In fact, He has punished

The end-times started the moment Jesus Christ pronounced the words, "It is finished" on the cross about 2000 years ago, so you need to relax on that. If your repentance is born out of fear that you will be doomed to Hell, well, here is bad news for you, Judgement and Hell is not for the unbelievers, but instead for many of those who are believers/saved/received Eternal life. If you need a better explanation of this, I will be glad to explain with scripture grin

Now, if you are struggling with a particular sin, what you need to do is work towards understanding the reason behind your mind falling for this sin. Every sin is a choice made... there is no involuntary sin. To lie, you have to, in your mind, choose to lie. Do some serious self-examination to better understand what is at the root of the sin in your life, and start from there in eliminating the problem.

According to Jesus Christ's teachings, however, the only way to stop sinning is to choose to obey His commandments instead...abide in Him, Jesus Christ, for only then can the Spirit of God abide in you, and those who are led by the Spirit of God are above the Law. The New Covenant, Jesus Christ, gave us about 46 commandments, all of which are profitable to us all. Try to spend time studying the gospels( I recommend Matthew, Mark and John to begin with) in order to learn what these commandments are, so you have a better chance of countering sin as you are able to choose instead to do what Jesus Christ commands instead.

This is untrue i.e. not according to the teachings of Jesus Christ Himself. It is indeed possible to be perfect, and perfection here not according to man's standards but the standards of perfection as put down by Jesus Christ Himself.

According to the teachings of Jesus Christ, as contained in the context above, to be perfect, one would need to not only love one's neighbours but also one's enemies, making sure to pray for them instead of against them and going the extra mile for one's enemies when called to go one.

Prayer is not the key. Obedience is!
And in order to obey, you need to know what the commandments are for you to obey them. I suggest you begin reading through the Gospel of Matthew, paying attention to all the commandments as given by Jesus Christ Himself.

Nope! Being free from sin does no such thing! Jesus Christ did not promise His Kingdom to Him who is without Sin. No, His Kingdom is instead promised to those who do works of righteousness as He commanded.
