To spend eternity we must have eternal life, which comes only thru faith in Jesus. Note that the above scripture does not say where the eternal life would be spent, but that it is given as a gift thru Jesus by God.
So if one who doesn't believe in Jesus or follow his step is to spend eternity in hell, from where did he get his eternal life, since the penalty of his sins is death?
