Fools. Is Buhari a king? Instead of doing what is right they are trying to distract us with useless politics, debating Constitution up and down. If the constitution is defective then our 'fat money collecting lawmakers' have failed over the years. |

Prof Itse Sagay brought to the fore the truism in this adage, "you have to be so stupid and lose your mind completely to support BUHARI." He is an old fool and a clown. He read law and became a SAN only to become a novice in common law of common sense. The British parliament can't summon the queen because she's not an elected constitutional authority. And that doesn't make the queen a dictator because she doesn't have absolute authority and power. But the English parliament can summon the prime minister because he's elected. |

Re: Sagay To National Assembly: British Parliament Can’t Summon Queen by Awoleesu(m): 7:50am On Dec 11, 2020 |
Prof. Itse should know better than to bring this flawed analogy into the argument. The Queen of England is a Monarch in a Kingdom (UK) while Buhari is a President in a Republic! Sagay should have compared the British PM to Buhari, otherwise he's only being smart by half by attempting to confer the powers of a Monarch on the ranking of a Prime Minister! |
Re: Sagay To National Assembly: British Parliament Can’t Summon Queen by AbdlRashid(m): 7:53am On Dec 11, 2020 |
Does this man knows what he is saying? The British has a prime minister who oversees the day to day activities of governance and answerable to the parliaments. How would they summon the Queen when she is not in charge of the economy? Or have we given our president absolute power? |
Re: Sagay To National Assembly: British Parliament Can’t Summon Queen by Kingstanding: 7:55am On Dec 11, 2020 |
bolaayenimo:. Sagay is a disgrace to humanity. How can he compare The Queen of England to mere President of Nigeria? When they say Queen's do no wrong what does that mean? The meaning is Queeen is above the law. Do Nigeria president is above the law? And moreso Her Majesty will never do things that will warrant her to be summoned by the house of parliament. Honestly education is upside down in Nigeria. The Queen of England is the most powerful Monarch in the whole wide world, and Sagay is now comparing Buhari to Queen of England, that's an insult to the Queen and British Empire. |
Re: Sagay To National Assembly: British Parliament Can’t Summon Queen by Agbegbaorogboye: 8:05am On Dec 11, 2020 |
Truth be told, I've listened to some constitutional lawyers and most seem to agree that there's nowhere in the constitution where power is given to the NASS to summon or invite the president. However, Ozekhome raised a valid argument of the NASS having power to summon "any public officer". That's one point that will be subject to interpretation of whether the president is a public officer or not. That said, I believe in the interim, the president appearing seems to have been reduced to a political matter and not one of governance or public responsibility. Thus, the president having given his word to the speaker should have kept his word especially seeing how much interest it generated in the polity. I think what's obvious from all these is that our leaders are less concerned about what we think of them especially when elections are not around the corner. While it's true that the British parliament can't summon the Queen, we have examples of presidents being summoned in a democracy all over the world |

I'm seriously scared about this generation. Reading the comments from page 1- 9, they're all saying the same thing. Seriously? Herders mentality! Constitionaly, Buhari is both the Queen(Head of State) and the Prime Minister(Head of Government). He's also theCommander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces GCFR. That is the power and privilege the constitution repose on him. That is why you hear people saying that the Nigeria President is too powerful. Buhari is even more powerful in Nigeria than Donald Trump in the United States. Imagine that Donald Trump have limited power over States and counties, or do you think if Trump would have been a Nigeria President he could stop the election by the way and the constitution will still support him. Summarily, Nigeria President is too powerful within and that's why people are clamouring for restructuring so that there will devolution of power at the center. If Buhari agrees to attend it's just out of morality but not out of legality. Well, it's only on Nairaland you'll hear a secondary school leaver teaching a surgeon how to perform surgery. |

This man is an idiot of the highest order, the queen is nothing but a ceremonial head of the government which means she does'nt take part in the day to day runing of the affairs of government, the person responsible for the day to day runing of the government is the prime minister, now the question for sagar is that can the prime minister be summon by the house of lords? If yes then sagar is nothing but an idiotic element trying to please an idiotic president who happen to be his idiotic paymaster, if this word would come to an end, something tells me it would start from Nigeria, angel micheal or Gabriel should just blow the triumphant already. |
