It was actually published in July but media was not interested

You're right. Since the scientists are not in white countries, they may not get any attention.

Their report showed that there are mutant variant in circulation in Nigeria even as far as July. They may truly have noted the variant causing concern now in the UK

Foolish professor, you had 1% similarity from the one in Nigeria to the lineage B.1.1.7 strain in UK, yet the caption reads " THE UK STRAIN FOUND IN NIGERIA AS EARLY AS AUGHUST ". How much are you paid to implicate Nigeria? If your findings was anything to go by, why did you keep quiet till now?

Covid 19 originated in Wuhan China, black men were stigmatized and attacked for bringing it, now another strain of the virus detected in the UK, few days after a caricature research came up claiming the strain was early observed in Nigeria...

GOD HELP BLACK PEOPLE.

Don’t mind the white idiots. Sebi they have been dying in thousands like Xmas chickens, let them continue pointing fingers at Africa, before they know it, their population would have decreased by 75% while the black man will adapt to living with it just as we got used to Malaria. Then, the white racists pigs with start begging Africans to come over and help sleep with their remaining women so that their useless race will not go into extinction

Exactly. I could remember too. My major concern now is how nigeria government had not banned international flights as many others.

Ban international flights because a local dominant strain might be imported?

Not only that. Detecting the strain is not the issue. The issue is developing a home grown vaccine, because it will amount to an exercise in futility for Nigerians to be administered a vaccine for a virus strain endemic in other parts of the world.

Who says the vaccine is impotent against this strain?

You see how ITK(I too know) ruins economy?... you are not sure since your 1st test in August predates that of UK, while Nigeria never had a rapid increase 5 months counting , but you are quick to give press statement on assumed findings..

What is your gain if the country is isolated?, dont you know the right channel to reach the Govt?

You are facing this much insecurity on a normal day, now imagine total lockdown and international isolation.. please discover cures and vaccines, not problems... nonsense.

What annoys me with our country is that, for a longtime now there hasn't been cases reported for COVID-19, but as Europe said there would be a 2nd wave, all of a sudden, the cases in Nigeria started risin fast, cos we wanna get money for vaccine. B4 u know it, Nigerian government will start selling the vaccine

Dont mind the man, he is only Looking for clout, saying we had the new corona strain since August even before UK, meanwhile our infection rate is not even an inch of UK.

Like he is expecting nations to shut us out like they have done UK without considering the repercautions..

Seriously! So many things need to be regulated in this country! I don't think they know implication of their stupid finding instead of our Olodo scientist to developed cure!

I am very sure UK is regretting their announcement and they will now understand why China kept quiet in the first instance!

That lab is the most equipped molecular biology lab in Africa. They tested and and revealed the status of Patrick Sawyer. Even the USA embassy prefer the result from the lab than from Washington DC because it is both reliable and fast.
Mane are asking why they didn't speak up since. If they didn't speak up earlier, it is because they do not want to create panic as they are not the legal authority to broadcast that without the knowledge of NCDC. They probably raised the alarm to the government. However, what would happen if they create a panic? Would that have stopped the spread or would that have created a vaccine?

But even NCDC seem to be part of the research too So no need reporting to them, they already know

one of the problems in this country is not appreciating the contribution of our intellectuals to knowledge. it's saddens and disheartening! if FG can look inward, even in the non-researh friendly environment like ours, every information and solutions to all issues of this coronavirus is available. but their collaboration with the whites against their own people for their own selfish interest is mind-blowing!!!

Well, since it hasn’t raised our casualty numbers then it’s safe to say we don’t need lockdowns over here.

If NDDC is part of the research, they should be responsible for broadcasting it. However, as far as I know ACEGID, it is an independent research centre and NDDC contributes nothing to the research being done their but depend on them for results.
The best they can donate ACEGID is to publish their findings in a journal and not to make a public broadcast.

NCDC is a partner/collaborator of the research and their DG is a co-author of the research.

Hmm...article clearly states strain was earlier detected in August, so if the study was carried out in April/May, the strain must have been detected around March undecided

They won't make enough money if there are no enough covid 19 within the country. When they are sure enough has entered. That is when they will close the border

Another higher level of cashing out activated
