Those were good old days when men were men.

See the focused look on his face .

With those eyes piercing and deeply affecting.

Not these days that boys are more interested in inanities ,singing boobs and ass or either opening threads upon threads to rant and cry on women affairs. grin grin grin grin grin shocked

He studied abroad at the University of London's Institute of Education, which today forms part of University College London. Upon returning to Nigeria, he became an Inspector of Schools for the colonial administration and later entered politics.

Tafewa Balewa was one of the most read ( highly intelligent and went to the best educational institutions overseas) Nigerian president we ever had, with the best command of the English language. When I watch some YouTube videos when he gave speeches I almost wept with pride and at the same time wept at our present state having these present day illiterate leaders in a country of highly read intellectuals.

BUT CAN A SECTIONAL LEADER LIKE PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI WITH HIS ETHNIC BIGOTRY AND TRIBALISTIC TENDENCIES HAVE SUCH OPPORTUNITY AS AT TODAY TO GET SUCH A COVERAGE IN AN INTERNATIONAL MAGAZINE LIKE TIME?

The answer is NO.

Buhari and his kinsmen are setting Nigeria backward.

President Shehu Shagari and Umaru Musa Yar "adua were great leader but Buhari is running Nigeria like his personal lunch box.

I wonder if there was not a coup in 1966 and we had parliamentary system of governance if the county would have been different today.

1.There probably would have been no civil war....(good)

2.Some of us won't have been born.....

3.I doubt Nigeria would have been better. Nigeria's problem is that we think we can make a living from selling raw materials whose prices are not set by us, and using the revenue to share among ourselves, and to import, import , import.

4.Corruption would have still been there. Live.

5.There would probably be two more regions. Or states

While we started off very good, the Civil war was inevitable. Our foundations was hugely flawed.
I'm sure If Nzeogwu and co had a crystal ball, they wouldn't have carried out that coup. It consumed not only them but also their kinsmen. It destroyed whatever Purpose this country might have had. Killing Balewa and the sultan was a 'brave' thing. I still don't know If I like the Man Kaduna Nzeogwu.. some say he was misunderstood....

What simplistic nonsense.

You cannot minimise my positions by simply tagging it as ''blame the white man'' bla bla bla, which is what you are trying desperately to do, because you cannot argue against the specific points I raise.

Face the actual points I raise or SHUT UP.

One more thing. Having a ''strong British accent'' does not make a person ''intelligent'', which seems to be your implied position in your first post.

Part of the problem, thinking you know better.
Am very sure na one stupid English you go use reply.

Time magazine is just a political propaganda tool used by the international cabals.

There is nothing worth celebrating about him being the fact he was a puppet in the hands of imperialism and colonial rulers.

Hitler too was once given time magazine.
Africans that deserve time magazine was

Patrice lumumba
Mandela
Awolowo

They cant be recognized because this people were progressive Africans ready to make Africa really independent.

Less than a month after Queen Elizabeth II proclaimed self-government for Eastern and Western Nigeria, the tropic Federation got its first Prime Minister and installed its first all-Nigerian Cabinet in the capital of Lagos, beside the tepid green waters of the Bight of Benin.* Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, a Northern Moslem, became Nigeria's first Prime Minister.

In a graceful speech opening Parliament, Balewa paid tribute to British statesmanship and the service of Christian missionaries, spoke of the "tremendous good will" that existed between Britain and Nigeria, but emphasized that he and his ministers are" "irrevocably committed" to complete independence for Nigeria.

Actually, it wasn't.

1.If the civilian administration hadn't handed over to Ironsi because they were so scared...

2.If ironsi had organized an open court martial for the coup plotters....

3.Ironsi's mistakes (like the decree abolishing regions, and so on)

4.It is rumored that some of our leaders were warned of the coup. Why didn't they do anything about it?

The wise man that overtook Zik and Awolowo to become the first prime minister and it is a wonder that the Igbos and Yorubas are still repeating same mistake, thinking they know it all. The Hausa Fulani is quietly using common sense to control everything in the country.

Exoticism has several negative implications on our ways of life. It has spiralled into an embarrassing inferiority complex for many deluded Oyinbo wannabes. Socioculturally, it is responsible for the craze for light skin, western styles and erosion of indigenous cultures. Economically, we are plagued by unparalleled propensities for foreign goods while local ones suffer mockery and mass neglect resulting in loss of Forex. What about education and health? Even the President trust UK doctors than Nigerian Physicians. Exoticism is one of the bases of our pathetic state as a nation.
We share similar views on African nationalism, although I do not agree with with your discourteous manner of conveyance and total attribution of the blame of underdevelopment to western actors.
