Diesel is like oil with high heat resistance meaning your engine would work smoothly and the diesel would act as a secondary lubrication.

Diesel doesn't burn like petrol so you enjoy more distance travel and better fuel economy than petrol.

Diesel engines are rugged because they utilize compression unlike combustion in petrol so they can last twice as long as petrol engines.

The cheapness part... Why would you say it's cheap when it's more than 100 more expensive than petrol per liter?
